Several hives in the Hive Hub.

  • Be aware that the Hive Hub isn't very well optimized (Bee Swarm Simulator wasn't made to handle this much data at once), so its best to have a decent device and set your graphics to 1 in order to avoid crashing and major framedrops. Still, expect your frames per second to drop to at least 50.

The following items are not usable in the Hive Hub:

Snowflake

  • Every type of Balloon .
  • Every type of Planter .
  • The Hive Hub is the only field in which your Bees don't spawn.
  • It's possible to enter this place wihtout having anything at all, since the 20 Bee Zone teleport barrier doesn't cover the left side of the area, this is due to teleport barrier never being increased after the area was expanded. Player just needs need to climb the wall to the left of the Ant Gate , then following the wall to the left, they need to jump down, where they will find themself behind the Stinger Shop . After that player just needs to jump while hugging the wall infront of them, this will allow them to gain enough height to be able to jump up to the fence to be able to climb it, once they are climbing it, they can either climb over it or fit in the middle hole of the fence. This can be used to get your own private hub server, if you are willing to fill it with 36 of your own accounts.

The Hive - Minecraft Server

Development Update - July 2023

It's time for a first look at some of the server updates you can expect to see very soon!

Hive Team

There have been many exciting things going on recently at The Hive! In addition to working on the server, we were trusted with bringing this year's Marketplace Summer Celebration to life; a Trails & Tales-themed live event, a free world, and 14 character creator items.

Now that we've wrapped up that project, we wanted to give you a first look at some of the server updates you can expect to see very soon!

A whole new... hub?

That's right, a brand-new hub is one of the first updates you'll see this summer. Although our current hub has served us well over the past 5 years, it was clear that change was needed.

A Minecraft screenshot. A break in green foliage reveals a large ornate castle.

Simply put, we were running out of space. We added the Arcade to support more games without further cluttering our main hub, but it did not meet our expectations. Games being hidden away in a different hub made them much harder for first-time players. When we moved Capture The Flag from the Arcade to the main hub, we saw an instant 30% increase in active players, and it has remained a popular game to this day.

As such, we will be vaulting the Arcade when the new hub is released. Don't worry! None of the Arcade games are being removed; they now have a home in the much-improved spawn of the new hub! Sadly, this does mean the hub-microgames will be going for now, but we hope to revisit some of them in the future.

We're super excited about the new hub; it's much bigger - perfect for mounts and future events, better optimized, and shows off all our high-quality games in a much more organized fashion.

Hubs... but smaller

With the release of Treasure Wars: Seasons, we'll launch another brand-new feature to The Hive: Microhubs.

the hive hub tour

Microhubs are designed specifically for their game. They provide tailored functionality, like access to game-specific merchants, bundles, and even features like prestige. Additionally, they become a great place to meet other players interested in the same game as you.

Treasure Wars will be the first game to get a microhub, but more will come in the future (cough... SkyWars).

To ensure you can always get back to playing as quickly as possible, if you leave The Hive and rejoin within 24 hours, you will be automatically placed back in the last hub you were in! This allows you to jump straight back into the action.

We're also tirelessly working on some incredible game updates for you. Some of these updates needed special functionality in their microhubs for brand-new features, which is why the hub updates took priority.

Treasure Wars: Seasons

It's happening! We're currently working on Treasure Wars: Seasons. In fact, we're taking this opportunity to recode the game completely. Treasure Wars is one of our oldest games and desperately needs modernization.

It's a big change, but a needed one!

We can't wait to share this revitalized game version with you. We'll be sharing teasers and more information about that soon.

Murder Mystery

Maps, maps, maps! There was more information to share, but it may have been lost somewhere in the backrooms...

A Minecraft screenshot of a liminal space.

Hide and Seek: Quality of Life Update

A fresh coat of paint is heading to Hide and Seek. This update primarily focuses on improving quality of life, such as better chat messages, improved UIs, and bug fixes. Oh... did we mention it will also come with brand-new maps and 25 more levels?

SkyWars Update

We hear you SkyWars players! Although it's early days, a SkyWars update is in the pipeline. Be sure to follow us on our various social media profiles to be kept up to date!

A Minecraft screenshot of a themed world. A river in the foreground leads way to roman architecture in the background.

That concludes this development update. We hope you're as excited as we are. As always, we're humbled by the incredible support, and we thank you for your patience.

Butler, a changing industrial hub north of Pittsburgh, is a Republican stronghold.

A crowd of casually dressed people stand and sit in the shade of a large tree.

  • Published July 13, 2024 Updated July 14, 2024, 4:19 a.m. ET

The city of Butler, a blue-collar town that was built on steel, has been trying to get a foothold economically in recent years after struggling to reinvent itself following a loss of industry in recent decades.

Home to about 13,000 people , the city is perched on the banks of Connoquenessing Creek, about a 50-minute drive northeast of Pittsburgh. It retains a relatively high poverty rate compared with the nation and the rest of Pennsylvania.

The county that the city sits within has been changing over time, however, becoming both more educated and more prosperous.

Broader Butler County’s population of nearly 200,000 remains about 95 percent white, according to the Census Bureau , but the nonwhite share of the population has been slowly growing. About 38 percent of adults there now have a bachelor’s degree, slightly higher than the 34 percent average nationally .

The county’s unemployment rate is well below the national level: just 2.8 percent . And per capita earnings in Butler County surpassed the state average in 2007, after being below it ever since records had begun to be kept.

Professional and business services are now the county’s largest employer. The southern part of the county is accessible to Pittsburgh, which makes it popular among commuters into the city. New housing developments and businesses have sprung up in recent years.

But Butler County retains large swaths of rural farmland and wooded forests. Gun ownership in that corner of Western Pennsylvania is pervasive , and hunting is such a major pastime there that local schools long took off the first day of deer season.

“We’re a little overwhelmed,” Bob Dandoy, Butler’s mayor, said in an interview late Saturday, after the shooting. “This is a small town.”

The area skews heavily Republican, and Trump signs dot local roadsides. Voter registration data from the local Bureau of Elections shows that just under 40,000 Democrats are registered in the county, and nearly 80,000 Republicans. About 20,000 voters are not registered as members of either party.

Trump voters outnumbered Biden voters nearly two to one in the 2020 election.

Mr. Dandoy is a Democrat, but he said the trauma of the shooting transcended parties.

“Politics aside, the people at that rally were exercising one of the most basic freedoms of our country,” he said. “An attack on their rights is an attack on all of our rights.”

Hive Hub 360 Setup and Review

By Mark's Tech Blogs

16th May 2021

Hive is a leading brand of smart home products who’s key product is a smart thermostat. Hive offer two types of Hub, a wired Hub and the Hive Hub 360 which is a wireless Hub for your Hive products with some extra features. So, how do you setup the Hive Hub 360 and should you buy the Hive Hub 360? Read on for all of that.

What is the Hive Hub 360?

The Hive Hub 360 is effectively a wireless replacement for your wired Hive Hub that probably came with your Hive products. It costs around £99 and so does have some extra features to make the upgrade more worthwhile.

The Hive Hub 360 comes in glossy white or glossy black and has some extra gold features. It’s not a bad looking product and looks pretty non-invasive depending where you choose to place it. It’s powered by a USB cable.

In addition to being the hub for your Hive smart products it also listens out for noises such as glass breaking, dogs barking and fire alarms and alerts you to the things it’s heard which means it can act as a way of making your non-smart fire alarm smart.

How to set up the Hive Hub 360?

Setting up the Hive Hub 360 is really easy. You simply plug it in, wait for the light on the top to start flashing white and then from within the Hive App just choose ‘Add New Device’ and follow the instructions.

This process configures your Hub with your Wifi settings and lets you select a few other options (e.g. if you want it to listen or not). From there you’re done and if you’re replacing an existing hub you can unplug the old wired one.

One of the great things about the Hive Hub 360 is the simplicity of installation but if you get stuck Hive have some great instructions on their website .

Is this wireless better than the Wired Hub?

The Hive Hub 360 offers a couple of plus points over the wired Hub. The first being that it connects using Wifi. This means you don’t need to place it close to your router, you can place it anywhere you like and, with the listening features you need to place it where it’s likely to pick up the noise of your smoke alarm.

The second key feature is the security options it offers with the ability to pick up and recognise the sound of a smoke alarm, dog barking or window breaking. Once it picks up one of these sounds you’ll get a notification and you can open the Hive app and listen to the sound recorded. This works wherever you are in the world allowing you to check the noise when you’re away from home.

The listening feature is a great idea but it doesn’t have the biggest range meaning you need to place it in the same room as you’d want it to listen too. Secondly, it’s still very limited to what it can hear still only recognising three sounds three years later.

Finally, I’ve found the Hub less reliable than the wired Hub with occasionally dropouts of signal.

Should I buy the Hive Hub 360 or Hive Hub?

If you’re trying to decide whether you need the Hive Hub 360 or the Hive Hub (wired) for your new smart heating or lighting from Hive then you need to decide whether the listening feature is something you want. If you’re not fussed about the ability to get notifications about smoke alarms and your router has an ethernet port then I’d recommend sticking with the wired Hub as it’s more reliable and can easily be hidden.

If you want wifi connection for your Hub and like the idea of the listening feature then go for a Hive Hub 360 as we’ve found it generally performs well.

Should I upgrade my Hive Hub to the Hive Hub 360

For a cost of just under £100 our answer to this is no. Unless you really want the listening features the Hive Hub 360 isn’t a big enough of an upgrade to make it worth while.

Is it any good?

The Hive Hub 360 provides the ability for a wireless Hub connection to your Hive devices and the ability to get alerts about glass breaking, dogs barking and smoke alarms but that’s it.
