England's Matt Wallace opened up a four-shot lead at the halfway stage of the Omega European Masters in Switzerland.
Wallace tore around Crans-sur-Sierre on Friday, carding a bogey-free 8-under 62.
The Englishman trailed compatriot and overnight leader Alex Fitzpatrick by one shot after the opening round but moved to 14-under with a classy display.
Alex, the younger brother of former U.S. Open champion Matthew, dropped to second after he followed his opening 63 with a 67.
Wallace is the only player to have played the first two rounds without a bogey.
His second round was highlighted with three birdies on the spin from the 14th.
Wallace also chipped in for birdie on the fourth and fifth holes.
He will almost certainly have Ryder Cup qualification on his mind for next September's contest.
The qualifying period began last week at The Belfry.
"It's not just about the win, it's about playing well," said Wallace, who is without a victory in six years.
"Luke wants you to play well and I want to play well so I'm going to try and play well every single day."
Matthew Fitzpatrick made the cut on the number. His round of 73 was littered with mistakes.
Ludvig Aberg won the European Masters the last time it was held.
Aberg won by two shots last September and cemented his place on the European Ryder Cup team.
The Swedish phenom is unable to defend his title this week after confirming he is headed for surgery to repair damage to a torn meniscus.

Matt Wallace is thumping the field at DP World Tour's Omega European Masters
Matt Wallace had a respectable season on the PGA Tour, making 20 starts and reaching the weekend 13 times. He finished with over $1 million in earnings and posted four top-25 finishes, including a T-4 at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson outside Dallas.
But he's still grinding this fall on the DP World Tour, posting an eighth-place finish at the Betfred British Masters hosted by Sir Nick Faldo last week and now surging out to the lead this week at the Omega European Masters at Crans-sur-Sierre in Switzerland.
Wallace opened the event with a 64, but followed it up with an even better round, draining five birdies on the front during a second round that saw him finish with a 62. At 14 under, he leads Alex Fitzpatrick by four strokes.
But what's Wallace's true motivation during this stretch? It's to impress Ryder Cup captain Luke Donald.
"It's not just about the win, it's playing well," he said.
"Luke wants you to play well and I want to play well so I'm going to try to play well every single day and what comes from it comes from it."

Donald will again choose six wild cards for Europe’s Ryder Cup team, with the six qualifiers for next year’s trophy defense taken from just one ranking list.
Qualifying points will be earned using a new tournament banding structure weighted towards performances in the majors and biggest PGA Tour and DP World Tour events, but LIV Golf tournaments remain unable to award points.
As for maintaining a big lead, Wallace insisted he's looking to simply keep pressing.
"It is good, competition, but I want to get away from the competition as much as possible."
Henrik Norlander and Jordan Smith are five strokes back in third place.

Wallace continued his fast start after following a six-under 64 by registering eight birdies in another bogey-free round on Friday, taking him to 14 under and with a commanding advantage.
The four-time DP World Tour winner opened with three straight pars before chipping in twice in as many holes from the fourth, part of a run of five birdies in a six-hole stretch to see him reach the turn in 30.

Omega European Masters
Crans-sur-Sierre GC, Crans Montana, Switzerland
How to watch the Omega European Masters
European Tour Productions, the DP World Tour’s in-house production company, will produce and distribute live coverage of the Omega European Masters .
This week sees the Back 9 continue with a return to the scenic Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in the Swiss Alps.
The Omega European Masters is one of the most historic events on the DP World Tour, and offers increased Race to Dubai Ranking Points as players look to earn qualification into the final two events on the 2024 schedule: The DP World Tour Play-Offs.
The top 70 in the season-long Race to Dubai Rankings at the end of the Back 9 phase of the season will gain qualification into the DP World Tour Play-Offs. Players can qualify throughout the Back 9, as they earn enough points to guarantee their position in the top 70.
While reigning champion Ludvig Åberg is not in the field this week, there are a host of former champions who are teeing it up, including in-form pair Thriston Lawrence and Rasmus Højgaard.
Among the other DP World Tour members in action are the Fitzpatrick brothers, with Matt aiming to become just the fourth player to have won the tournament on three occasions, and Alex looking to impress again after finishing tied fifth on his debut in the event last year.
