Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System

Fairbanks International Airport Baggage Transport Conveyor Enhanced With Mod Drive™ System

Airports face a host of unique industry challenges, such as meeting efficiency regulations and seeking out the best maintenance practices to reduce costs and keep operations flowing. In today’s current economic climate, any potential cost savings can go a long way.

In 2019, Alaska’s Fairbanks International Airport (FAI) sought to modernize its equipment and operations. They were dissatisfied with the performance of the gearmotors on their baggage transport conveyors and began searching for new suppliers. Regal approached FAI with a solution that could improve equipment performance and simplify maintenance, with the added benefit of energy cost savings: the Hub City® MOD Drive™ system.

This white paper discusses the hardware deployed, the test results and the annualized expectations for ROI.

MEXICO-AVIATION-TRAVEL

Nebraska Cornhuskers ’ fans may have noticed in the news yesterday that the Lincoln Airport (LNK) is soon to be the operating home of America’s newest “airline” when Red Way begins serving seven destinations starting this June. The new air service is targeting leisure markets out of Lincoln’s airport for twice weekly routes to start.

globalx air tours llc

The new airline service is being marketed as seasonal for now, with frequency increasing on select routes to three a week beginning in September if demand permits. The initial launch will feature a roundtrip flight twice a week to seven destinations out of Lincoln, starting with Orlando and Minneapolis, expanding to Atlanta, Dallas, and Las Vegas, and finishing its initial route offerings with Austin and Nashville.

  • 2x weekly Orlando (MCO) service starts June 8, 2023
  • 2x weekly Minneapolis (MSP) service starts June 8, 2023
  • 2x weekly Atlanta (ATL) service starts June 16, 2023
  • 2x weekly Dallas (DFW) service starts June 16, 2023
  • 2x weekly Las Vegas (LAS) service starts June 16, 2023
  • 2x weekly Austin (AUS) service starts June 24, 2023
  • 2x weekly Nashville (BNA) service starts June 24, 2023

Atlanta, DFW, and Minneapolis are scheduled for three-flights weekly beginning in September. Atlanta service does not have an end date on the schedule, but Austin and Nashville are scheduled to cease seasonal operations Sept. 6, with Orlando and Las Vegas ending on Nov. 2, and DFW and Minneapolis on Nov. 3.

Red Way will be directly selling seats on aircraft on behalf of GlobalX Air Tours, with the aircraft owned and operated by Global Crossing Airlines. Global Crossing was founded in 2018 and commenced operations Aug. 7, 2021. With Red Way acting strictly as sales agent for the operation, it is essentially a “virtual airline” for all intents and purposes, but still essentially qualifies as America’s newest “airline” beginning this June when it launches.

GlobalX is headquartered in Miami and has operating bases in Atlantic City, Las Vegas, and Miami. It operates a fleet of Airbus A320ceo aircraft family, including six A320-200 for passenger service, two A321-200 aircraft for passenger service and one for freighter service, with two A319-100 aircraft on order to be used for government contracts.

Though, there is at least one A319 listed on the company’s website in service per its registration code, but oddly it is listed as an A320 there. More on that, shortly. GlobalX also has other aircraft on order currently in the development phase, but I won’t bore you with the details of those long term growth plans.

Red Way will be operating with an ultra low cost model in mind, marketing bare bones fares starting at just $59. Passengers can add on other options to their fare for a fee, including a carry-on bag, checked bag, seat selection, or extra legroom.

globalx air tours llc

Flights are available on sale now directly on Red Way’s website . The configuration provided at booking suggests that GlobalX is launching with A320 aircraft, including N282GX and N283GX, though N283GX is listed on GlobalX’s website as having the same layout despite the fact it is actually an A319 .

The former aircraft, N282GX, was leased to Virginia America after assembly in France and later used briefly by Alaska Airlines before ending the lease. The 17 year old A320-214 is now leased to GlobalX. N283GX was initially leased by Mexicana Airlines from 2006-2010, by Avianca from 2011-2016, Cobalt 2016-2018, and HiFly Malta from 2019-2021. It is scheduled for delivery soon to GlobalX on lease.

The choice for Lincoln and destinations are an interesting one to an extent. LNK has been reduced to just United Express flights to Chicago, Houston, and Denver after Delta had to cut service due to a national pilot shortage affecting regional airline operations in 2022. Delta was unable to sustain service in the wake of staff issues despite feeding flights into its Atlanta hub until 2020 and Minneapolis until 2022. Allegiant also served a Las Vegas route until 2009.

According to 2019 roundtrip passenger counts assembled by Simply Flying , Atlanta saw 10,200 passengers and Minneapolis 21,800. After that, Orlando was next highest at 5,500 and Las Vegas next with 4,400. No other destination saw more than 3,600 passengers at most, though none at that point had direct service.

Regardless, this is a massive influx of seats to the market. At its peak, DOT data suggests that Lincoln averaged around 400 passengers per day and is now down to around 300 as of Sept. 2022 (most recent available count). Presuming the 150-seat explanation is correct for GlobalX aircraft being used for the routes, that’s an influx of 300 seats per day to bring it to around 600.

GlobalX CEO Ed Wegel was confident of their research into partnering with Red Way to open Lincoln services, however:

“Lincoln represents the very best of America. Hometown values, hardworking citizens and a real zest for capitalism . . . We’ve looked at the numbers. There’s been a lot of research and analysis that’s gone into this, and we know that this is a winner.”

It also helped that the American Rescue Plan Act provided $3 million in funds via the City of Lincoln to provide a big boost in start-up costs for the airline service, however, as well. It would not be the first time a service has started seasonal operations using a separate charter airline’s aircraft, either.

Apple Vacations, for example, uses charter services to market vacation packages out of a number of Midwest airports, from larger fields like Milwaukee to smaller ones like Lansing. Though not a perfect comparison to what Red Ways will offer, still a helpful example that it can be done, even if the scale is significantly smaller in total volume.

New US charter carrier Red Way plans launch operations in June

By Howard Hardee 2023-03-30T20:24:00+01:00

A new discount charter carrier called Red Way plans to launch flights on 8 June from Lincoln, Nebraska to seven US cities.

The airline’s fleet will include multi-class Airbus A320s and A321s operated by Miami-based charter carrier Global Crossing Airlines (GlobalX), Red Way said on 30 March.

A Global Crossing Airbus A320

“Red Way and GlobalX Air Tours will be adhering to a cost-efficient structure to offer affordable fares, flexibility and choice,” the airline says. “Customers can choose their own experience with basic economy or premium options that include perks such as spacious legroom and additional baggage.”

“Amenities such as food and beverage will also be available on the aircraft for purchase,” the fledgling carrier adds.

Red Way did not immediately specify how many narrowbody jets GlobalX will operate on its behalf. Flights will be public charters, with initial destinations including Orlando, Las Vegas, Dallas Fort Worth, Nashville, Austin, Atlanta and Minneapolis.

“Through this model, known as Part 380 operations, we can offer seasonal flexibility and keep the operations simple,” Red Way tells FlightGlobal. “We have a strong community focus and look forward to making an economic impact in Lincoln and the surrounding areas.”

During a ceremony in Lincoln, David Haring, executive director of the Lincoln Airport Authority, said the expanded air service “is not just a new chapter for our airport and our community, but is actually a tremendous opportunity for our state”.

In 2014, Delta Air Lines began offering flights between Lincoln and Atlanta. More recently, United Airlines has been operating to Houston, Haring says.

“Those successes have been few and far between,” Haring says. “There is also a nationwide capacity shortage disproportionately impacting airports the size of Lincoln.” Delta stopped flying to Lincoln in early 2022 amid a broader pullback from smaller markets.

However, “the size and continued growth of Lincoln is impressive and supportive of a robust air service network”, says Ed Wegel, GlobalX’s chief executive.

Red Way will begin flying on 8 June and continue adding destinations through 24 June.

Lincoln Airport announces flights to seven new cities

LINCOLN, Neb (KLKN) – The Lincoln Airport announced Thursday that a number of new cities are on the menu for flying in and out of Lincoln, which officials hope will draw more business, tourism and general travel.

The new destinations are Minneapolis, Austin, Orlando, Nashville, Dallas, Atlanta and Las Vegas.

Flights to each of those cities will not be daily but will be scheduled twice a week.

You pay a base amount for fares, with additional fees for baggage and specific seating.

Starting in June, the flights will be offered through the new Red Way charter carrier, which was created to help the airport develop new options for flights.

“So the mission of Red Way is simple,” said David Haring, executive director of the Lincoln Airport Authority. “We want to provide our community with the right destinations, at the right time, at the right price, all on a product that is unparalleled in customer service. ”

Flights through Red Way will be operated by GlobalX Air Tours and Global Crossing Airlines , which offers charter flights out of Lincoln.

Ed Wegel, the founder, chairman and CEO of GlobalX, said that the continued growth of Lincoln is “supportive of a robust air service network” and that the city deserves more options at its airport.

“Lincoln represents the very best of America,” he said. “Hometown values, hardworking citizens and a real zest for capitalism. We’ve looked at the numbers. There’s been a lot of research and analysis that’s gone into this, and we know that this is a winner.”

Officials said that since the start of the pandemic, LNK has been struggling to keep up in the market, despite flights returning to mostly normal levels.

A little more than a year ago, Delta Airlines also stopped making flights to Lincoln , impacting travel from Lincoln to Minneapolis.

Jason Ball, president and CEO of the Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, said having these destinations will help grow both Lincoln and Nebraska’s economy by connecting businesses and their workers to more cities.

“Anytime you can add new direct flights from the Lincoln Airport, it’s gonna create new activity based off of that,” he said.

Ball said that whenever you make it easier to travel to a city, “you’re gonna have more business flights that are gonna want to take advantage of that opportunity.”

To accommodate these new flights, a new 35,000-square-foot addition has been made.

The $55 million expansion and renovation will consolidate some of the Transportation Security Administration operations while expanding passenger gates and creating new restaurant and concession areas.

Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird said about $3 million of American Rescue Plan Act funds are being put into this project to help bring Red Way and the new destinations to Lincoln.

The new terminal will be opening in May.

Red Way Launches First Commercial Flights

globalx air tours llc

Red Way, a new Nebraska-based tour operator, has commenced commercial services from Lincoln Airport as it strives to ‘innovate’ the way Nebraskans fly.

The birth of Red Way

On 08 June 2023, Red Way performed its inaugural flight from its Nebraska base of Lincoln. The flight was non-stop between the cities of Lincoln and the major tourist destination of Orlando in Florida.

The company said that its first flight was a full cabin of excited customers on the direct service to the Florida airport.

The first routes planned, all from its home base of Lincoln, will be to popular destinations in the United States of America, initially to Orlando.

globalx air tours llc

Red Way flights are offered as public charters by GlobalX Air Tours, LLC and are operated by the airline Global Crossing Airlines, Inc. The fleet of aircraft used are the Airbus A320 narrowbody aircraft.

Global Crossing Airlines is a Florida-based airline specialising in long term charter and lease operations. Red Way is a USA Part 380 operator.

Speaking on the inaugural flights, Red Way issued a statement that said: “We are thrilled to be starting service on June 8th. Our vision started with a simplistic goal of having a positive economic impact on the community by offering affordable pricing and an exceptional customer experience.”

[monsterinsights_popular_posts_inline]

Red Way is looking to establish a new, fresh, and established network of non-stop flights from Lincoln – often passengers from the airport or region have to make layovers or connections.

The network expands from 16 June with the destinations of Atlanta, Dallas, and Minneapolis added to the scheduled. On 24 June, further services will commence to Austin and Nashville.

‘A Unique and Honest Approach Air Travel’

In the press release, Red Way said they are “innovating the way Nebraskans fly and offers convenient and affordable non-stop routes to popular destinations.”

Establishing regular direct services from Lincoln, and providing increased accessibility for the greater Nebraskan community, is only one cornerstone of its strategy. It also says that it will offer exceptional service, competitive prices, and a seamless experience for the customers.

Speaking on the initial flights, David Haring, Executive Director of Lincoln Airport , said: “We are proud to introduce Red Way and bring the joy of hassle-free air travel to Lincoln and the wider Nebraska community.”

Both the airport and the tour operator have hailed the support these first flights have received the local Nebraska community. A message that appears to show their wish to be close to the hearts of the state and to keep in touch with their home base support.

“As we take flight, we are confident that our presence will continue to have positive impacts in a broader scope than what we originally anticipated. Our success can be credited to the incredible people and communities of Nebraska who have welcomed us with open arms,” the Red Way press release concluded.

Global Crossing Airlines and Canada Jetlines Partner on Scheduled Charter Service Between Toronto and Florida

November 10, 2021 17:01 ET | Source: Global Crossing Airlines Group Inc. Global Crossing Airlines Group Inc.

MIAMI, Nov. 10, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd. ( NEO: CJET) (“ Canada Jetlines ”) and Global Crossing Airlines Group Inc. ( JET: TSX-V; JET.B: TSX-V; JETMF: OTCQB) (“ GlobalX ”), are pleased to announce that Canada Jetlines (through its Canada Jetlines Vacations Ltd.) subsidiary, and GlobalX (through its GlobalX Air Tours LLC subsidiary) intend to launch their first partnership on the sale of public charter flights between Toronto and Florida.

The arrangement is the first between the two companies since GlobalX completed the spin out of Canada Jetlines in June 2021 to shareholders. Under the terms of the arrangement, Canada Jetlines Vacations will jointly market and sell seats on GlobalX public charter flights over a six-week period. Round trip charter flights are expected to operate from Toronto to Miami and Fort Lauderdale weekly beginning in March 2022. The parties are targeting that tickets will go on sale in December 2021, pending receipt of all final regulatory approvals including approval from, and completion of Canada Jetlines Vacation registration with, the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO). Flights will be operated on GlobalX Airbus A320 aircraft. Canada Jetlines intends to start operating flights to Florida with its own A320 aircraft once it has completed its certification and receives all required government approvals.

“This partnership is exactly what we envisioned when we spun off Canada Jetlines- creating Canada’s newest low-cost airline. The alliance between the two airlines allows us to fly for each other to open new charter routes, provide additional capacity at certain peak periods for each airline and to maximize the benefits of the two networks. We look forward to flying these charter routes for our partner as the first step in expanding our alliance,” said Ed Wegel, Chair and CEO of GlobalX.

“The ability for Canada Jetlines Vacations to charter GlobalX to operate flights to Florida this upcoming winter is exciting news for Canada Jetlines. The partnership with GlobalX allows us the flexibility to quickly react and open routes and charter flights that would otherwise not be available,” said Eddy Doyle, CEO of Canada Jetlines.
