Outstanding Company

We have been with Travel Chapter for about three years, it was the best decision we made. We have our own property manager 'Sally Thomas' who has been absolutely outstanding. Whenever there has been an issue, her response has always been swift, very helpful and she really could not do more to promote our property. Throughout 'Covid' the company has always done its best for us and the guests, something which I'm sure has not always been easy. We are thrilled with our bookings, fully booked for pretty much the next year. I cannot rate this company highly enough and especially our property manager.

Thank you to the team for all your hard work, I'd definitely recommend the Travel Chapter to somebody looking for a company to let their holiday home.

We have let with Travel Chapter for the last year and a half and have been delighted with the service and high level of bookings. Sally Thomas our account manager has been amazing, dealing with our queries and making changes as requested in a very timely manner. We are so pleased that we chose to let with Holiday Cottages and would highly recommend them.

A great organisation that serves guests as well as they serve hosts.

We have been a a Travel Chapter host for about a year and have two furnished holiday lets with them. We have also used them to book our own short breaks. We love having a real account manager to talk to and they have consistently brought us bookings when others say things are slow. There is always someone at the end of a line if either we or the guests needs them. Fortunately things have and continue to go well.

Renting Your Holiday Let with Holiday Cottages

Holiday Cottages have been excellent helping us rent our cottage. We have had excellent bookings and the system from the owners point of view works really well. Thoroughly recommend if you are looking for a firm to help you rent your holiday let with.

Elbeck Barn

We had a wonderful week at Elbeck Barn in Litton in the Yorkshire Dales. The cottage is amazing with every convenience in a stunning location. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners Sue and Graham who have created a charming holiday cottage.

After a year of very few bookings my cottage is finally getting a lot more. I did swap over to Travel Chapter last summer, I can't say I get as much money as I would have expected but at least it is coming in. When I do look at other business that do bookings for holiday cottages the ones near me and other areas aren't getting as many bookings as I am currently getting. So I am relieved that at least I am getting bookings this year.

Complaints about the dirty state of the property, including smell from shower drain and mouldy waste in the fridge overflow tray not resolved even though the local management company were called out and found the mould that was causing some of the offensive odour in the property. I wouldn’t use this company ever again.

My holiday property is never empty thanks to being full 95% of the year. This is due to Travel Chapter and my property manager, Emma Arkle working hard to achieve the level of bookings I receive. Travel Chapter sold to management team

Private equity firm ECI Partners has sold self-catering holiday rentals Travel Chapter to the management team, supported by investment from Intermediate Capital Group (ICG).

Travel Chapter offers about 8,000 properties across the UK, and features brands such as Holidaycottages.co.uk (pictured), Canine Cottages and Cottages & Castles.

ECI acquired stake in Travel Chapter in 2018 , and the business has since grown, both organically and through seven acquisitions.

In June 2021, the business made its largest acquisition to date, acquiring the Sally’s Cottages brand, which has more than 500 properties in the Lake District.

Jayne McClure, chief executive of Travel Chapter, said: “ECI have been highly supportive in helping Travel Chapter deliver on both organic and acquisitive growth.

“Our shared alignment on the importance of both owners and customers helped us to attract fantastic new properties and continue to deliver our exceptional customer service as we have scaled.

“I’d like to thank them for a successful partnership and I look forward to working with ICG over the coming years as we continue to deliver on the growth potential of the Travel Chapter brands.”

George Moss, partner at ECI, added: “Jayne and the team have done a fantastic job building the business through both M&A and organic growth and shown great leadership of a resilient business against a challenging Covid backdrop.

“Travel Chapter’s focus on high quality properties and excellent owner and customer service means they are really well placed to benefit from the enhanced long-term growth trends in the staycation sector.”

James Roddis, managing director at ICG, commented: “We are delighted to partner with Travel Chapter’s exceptional management team, who have succeeded in building a market leading holiday rental platform, offering fantastic service to both property owners and customers.

“We believe there is huge further growth potential for the business and we are looking forward to working with Jayne and the wider management team in the next exciting stage in Travel Chapter’s journey.”

ICG already owns Park Holidays UK, which has 42 holiday parks.

Travel Chapter was reported previously to have been working on an IPO, advised by Houlihan Lokey, an American investment bank.

In November 2021, a plan by Travel Chapter to go public was delayed due to “market volatility”.

The IPO plan had been announced in October, attracting interest from investors on the back of a boom in staycations.

Title: pod suboptimal control of evolution problems: theory and applications.

Abstract: The work is organized as follows. First an introduction is given in Chapter 1. In Chapter 2 we introduce the POD method in finite and infinite-dimensional Hilbert spaces and discuss various applications. Chapter 3 is devoted to to POD-based Galerkin schemes for evolution problems. Mainly, we study linear problems taking different discretization methods into account. We provide a certified a-priori and a-posteriori error analysis. Furthermore, the numerical realizations are explained and illustrated by test examples. Quadratic programming problems governed by liner evolution problems are investigated in Chapter 4. As in Chapter 3 we present a certified a-priori and a-posteriori error analysis. Moreover, we discuss basis update strategies. In Chapter 5 we give an outlook to further directions in reduced-order modeling in optimal control and optimization. More precisely, a nonlinear optimal control problem is studied. Moreover, state-constrained optimization problems are solved by a tailored combination of primal-dual active set methods and POD-aesed reduced-order modeling. Furthermore, POD Galerkin methods for multiobjective optimal control problems are investigated. Finally, some required theoretical foundations are summarized in the appendix.

Governor Cooper to Attend White House State Dinner Honoring Prime Minister of Japan Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and Mrs. Kishida Yuko will visit North Carolina following State Dinner with President Biden

Governor Roy Cooper and First Lady Kristin Cooper will travel to Washington, D.C. to attend a White House State Dinner on Wednesday night honoring America’s relationship with Japan. President Biden will host Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio and his wife Kishida Yuko, along with other members of the Japanese delegation. Following the State Dinner, Prime Minister and Mrs. Kishida will travel to North Carolina on Friday, April 12 for a historic State Lunch at the Executive Mansion, visits to major Japanese employers in North Carolina and other events emphasizing the state’s strong relationship with Japan.

“Kristin and I appreciate President Biden’s invitation to attend the White House State Dinner honoring our nation’s relationship with Japan and we look forward to hosting Prime Minister and Mrs. Kishida in North Carolina as well,” said Governor Cooper. “Japan is a great ally and economic partner and I’m grateful for President Biden’s efforts to bring our countries even closer together, especially during a time of conflicts and tension around the world.”

Following the State Dinner, Prime Minister and First Lady Kishida will travel to North Carolina. On Thursday evening, Governor Cooper will greet Prime Minister Kishida at RDU-International Airport. On Friday, Governor and Mrs. Cooper will host Prime Minister and Mrs. Kishida, US Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emmanuel, state leaders and members of the Japanese delegation at the Governor’s Executive Mansion in Raleigh for a historic State Lunch.

Governor Cooper, Prime Minister Kishida and a delegation of Japanese dignitaries will then visit  Toyota’s  first and only electric and hybrid battery plant in Randolph County and  HondaJet  in Guilford County. First Lady Kristin Cooper will join Mrs. Kishida for a traditional Japanese tea at Sarah P. Duke Gardens in Durham. First Lady Cooper and Mrs. Kishida will also visit the North Carolina Museum of Science to see a traditional Japanese Friendship Doll that has been continuously on display in North Carolina since it was gifted to the state by the people of Japan in the 1920s.

Governor Cooper visited Tokyo in 2023 to participate in the Southeast US/Japan Economic Partnership Conference and has continued to work to recruit new Japanese business investment to North Carolina. Japan is the largest source of foreign direct investment in North Carolina.

Since taking office, Governor Cooper’s sustained engagement with Japanese leaders and employers has paid dividends for North Carolina’s economy. From his trips to Tokyo in 2017 and 2023 to hosting the SEUS/Japan Conference in Charlotte next fall, Governor Cooper has made it a priority to build lasting relationships between North Carolina and Japanese business leaders and recruit good-paying jobs in high-growth industries like aerospace, electric vehicles and biotechnology.

The Governor last attended a White House State Dinner in October 2023.

Brand network

The Travel Chapter is proud to welcome Sally’s Cottages

Based in the Lake District, Sally’s Cottages is an award-winning, family-run business that began life in 2003 with just a single holiday property. Over the years, the brand has grown significantly, going from strength to strength and now boasts over 500 beautiful properties in the region, including cottages in the popular areas of Keswick, Ambleside and Windermere as well as numerous other locations.

travel chapter email address

The natural beauty of the Lake District makes it one of the most popular holiday destinations in the UK, especially for those looking to make the most of the great outdoors, with plenty of opportunities for walking, hiking, cycling and all manner of other outdoor pursuits.

Guests visiting this stunning area can also enjoy the popular attractions of Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain; its largest lake, Lake Windermere, as well as Coniston Water, Ullswater and Castlerigg Stone Circle. Lovers of literature can also discover the homes of Romantic poet, William Wordsworth and children’s author, Beatrix Potter.

At The Travel Chapter, we are proud to welcome Sally’s Cottages to our network of brands. Sally’s Cottages' property owners will now benefit not only from exposure on the Sally’s Cottages' website, but also, in due course, from our extended marketing reach across numerous sites within our network, which receive over 35 million visits a year and include brands such as Canine Cottages, Big Domain and our flagship brand, holidaycottages.co.uk.

The Sally’s Cottages' team will continue to work from the offices in Keswick and Windermere to ensure that owners and guests alike will enjoy continuous local support and knowledge, alongside the additional support and increased marketing reach of The Travel Chapter.

Sally Fielding commented: “This year is looking amazing for bookings and I very much hope this will continue going forward, after what has been a very challenging 15 months. Going into next year with The Travel Chapter at the helm will mean that there will be funds to safeguard all the jobs of the team here. It will also mean that there are the financial reserves to support the marketing of all the cottages, meaning that Sally’s Cottages can continue to be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

"We chose The Travel Chapter because, whilst they have a national presence, their origins as a regional agency mean they remain a company that has the same beliefs and values as Sally’s; integrity, friendliness and simplicity.”

The Travel Chapter’s CEO, Jayne McClure, also commented: “We’ve long admired the brand that Sally and the team have created as well as the great ethos and service they’ve delivered.

"We’re delighted that Sally and her husband Rob have chosen us to take the business forward. We’re looking forward to continuing the business in what should, hopefully, be a more encouraging year for tourism across the UK.

“In due course, we will integrate the Sally’s Cottages' properties onto the wider Travel Chapter network where they will benefit from even greater marketing exposure. Our plan is to build on the brilliant success of this great business and continue to encourage guests to visit this beautiful part of the UK for many years to come.”
