Finland Is Now Welcoming Fully Vaccinated Travelers
All vaccinated travelers can enter Finland — without taking a COVID-19 test or quarantining.

Fully vaccinated American travelers will be allowed to visit Finland without needing to quarantine or take a COVID-19 test, the country announced Tuesday.
Visitors are required to have completed a full course of an approved vaccine at least two weeks before arrival.
"The joy and urge to escape everyday life and travel is great for many. Aspects such as safety and sustainability are currently the most important decision-making criteria when planning a vacation," the country's tourism board shared with Travel + Leisure in a statement. "As a travel destination, Finland meets these requirements in many respects: with almost 80 percent forest area, 40 national parks and 188,000 lakes, travelers can enjoy the surroundings, keep plenty of distance and have a feeling of security."
Finland is also allowing visitors from countries it deems low-risk — under 25 infections per 100,000 people — to arrive without proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test, the government announced last week. Based on the latest data from Reuters ' COVID-19 tracker , the U.S. is currently outside that boundary. Therefore, only vaccinated Americans can enter Finland.
The most up-to-date information on entry requirements can be found on the Finnish Border Guard website .
Travelers no longer need to show COVID certificates to board Finnair flights to Finland, the airline announced earlier this month.
Those who previously had and have recovered from the coronavirus within six months of their departure, or were born after 2005, are also cleared to visit Finland.
Finnish officials also created the Finentry tool to help people figure out whether they're allowed to visit Finland, as well as to provide information about testing or other requirements that may apply.

Finland has announced it will allow fully vaccinated tourists to visit without testing or quarantine requirements from July 12.
To skip COVID-19 travel restrictions visitors must show proof of vaccination — either an EU digital COVID-19 certificate or an approved health certificate — upon arrival in Finland. Vaccines approved by the Finnish health ministry for entry to Finland include Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, Sinopharm, Covishield and CoronaVac.

Those who have only received one vaccination dose can still visit Finland but they're required to take a COVID-19 test within 72 hours of departure. Unvaccinated tourists can also visit but they'll need to take a test before departure and a test upon arrival. Those who can prove they have had COVID-19 within the last six months and have recovered from the virus are permitted to enter without testing.
The new measures will be reviewed every fortnight and apply to people traveling from EU and Schengen countries, as well as those coming from destinations outside these zones that are classified as low-risk(where the incidence of COVID-19 is low). This includes Australia, Hong Kong, Israel, China, Malta, Poland, New Zealand and Singapore among others .
Any other travelers must be tested for COVID-19 as soon as they arrive in Finland, self-isolate and take a second test between three and five days after arrival. This includes arrivals from the US and UK.

The Finnish government announced on Tuesday it was relaxing travel restrictions after more than a year of tight border and domestic controls to curb the spread of COVID-19. Across the " world's happiest country ", hotels and attractions are open and restaurants, cafes and bars are open for indoor and outdoor service. Generally they can stay open until midnight but opening times can vary by region with local restrictions.
Infections are rising in Finland in recent weeks, but Reuters reports that it remains among the countries least affected by COVID-19. According to the Finnish health ministry , 60% of eligible adults have received their first dose of a vaccine and 21.4% have received their second dose.

Von Der Leyen Promises Finland EU Help to Counter Migrants From Russia

HELSINKI (Reuters) -The European Union will help Finland guard its eastern border from neighbouring Russia's attempt to "instrumentalise migrants" to destabilise it, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on Friday.
Finland last year shut all passenger crossing points on its long border with Russia amid an influx of asylum-seekers from countries including Syria and Somalia, and accused Moscow of weaponising migration, an assertion the Kremlin denies.
The border closure has put an end to the flow of migrants but Finland is building a fence on parts of the border and has stepped up patrols, fearing the phenomenon could restart any time.
On a visit to the Finnish-Russian border area, von der Leyen reminded a similar "hybrid attack" had been launched by Belarus in November 2021 against Latvia, Poland and Lithuania.
"... We all know how Putin and his allies instrumentalise migrants to test our defences and try to destabilise us. Now, Putin is focusing on Finland," she told reporters.

"This is no doubt in response to your firm support of Ukraine and your accession to NATO," she added.
Finland's government is planning to introduce emergency legislation to allow its border guards to block migrants and send them back to Russia without receiving their asylum applications, should Russia allow them to start crossing through the vast forests that cover the 1,340-km (830-mile) long border.
"We are preparing our own legislation but we also need EU measures," Finland's Prime Minister Petteri Orpo said.
Von der Leyen promised the EU would support Finland with 230 million euros ($245 million) and operational help from the bloc's Frontex border agency to counter the problem, by deploying border guards and surveillance equipment to Finland.
She said the Commission was also working with the countries of origin of migrants to counter the problem.
"What we see is that a state is instrumentalising poor people to put pressure on another state so that is a clear security issue," she said.
Measures taken to deal with migrants from Russia must strike a balance between protecting the security of borders and international obligations, she said.
