The “Top Gun: Maverick” actor rubbed shoulders with Hollywood’s elite at the star-studded event at The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, but despite the myriad of big names packed into one lavish room, Cruise’s striking coif and skin tone were the first thing celebrities noticed.

Cruise sported a much deeper tan than he’s known for, and paired it with a longer hairstyle that fans aren’t used to seeing on him.

Marking his first red carpet appearance in eight months, 60-year-old Cruise turned heads with his floppy locks.

He opted for a midnight blue bespoke three-piece suit by Brioni, which he paired with a lilac patterned tie.

In fact, his new appearance was even pointed out by eagle-eyed fans, some of whom even poked fun at his tan.

“Jamie Lee Curtis seeing Tom Cruise’s Trump-level spray tan up close,” tweeted one person alongside a snap of a shocked Jamie Lee Curtis embracing Cruise.

Elsewhere at the lunch, Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences president Janet Yang spoke about last year’s disastrous event as a result of the infamous Will Smith “slapgate.”

The organization, which votes on nominees, winners and hosts of the annual ceremony, said it will be “fully transparent” in the future .

“I’m sure you all remember we experienced an unprecedented event at the Oscars,” she said, according to Variety.

Tom Cruise’s cropped haircut in Top Gun is simple, slick and a go-to summer grooming reference I’ll be showing my barber when he reopens next week. What should I ask for to achieve this cut? And do you have any hair product recommendations to style it similarly?  

Joe Mills: Tom Cruise’s haircut in Top Gun is the perfect summer crop; it has just enough length to be versatile and give you a quite a few styling options. 

When it comes to the cut, ask your barber to leave 2.5 inches of hair on top and a bit more length around the fringe. This style needs to have some texture added in order to give it some movement and to stop it from sitting too flat. The back and sides will be in need of a scissor cut – not too close but off the ear and into the neck. 

Personally, I recommend asking for your hairline at the back to have a slight taper, as the original on Tom Cruise is a little heavy. This will also help your hair grow out better between cuts. You want a slightly square feel through the sides as well, but nothing clippered as this will be too short.

Styling-wise, there’s a bunch of options. You can part your hair, wear if forward or push it up and back with a messy quiff. I would first of all reach for a sea salt spray as a base product in order to ensure texture. For a softer, more forward look, dry your hair from the crown forward and, at the end, direct the airflow at the front and push the fringe up and over to one side.

To get the hair stood up and back, I would go with Triumph & Disaster’s Ponsonby Pomade. With a five-pence-sized amount to start, work the product into your hands and then use your fingers like a brush to style it. If you feel you need more product, repeat this process. This will give it the shine and hold that Cruise masters.

Tom Cruise showed off his brand new hairstyle as he arrived in London this week, before hopping into a helicopter to fly to filming for Mission Impossible 8 .

The Top Gun star had a new highlighted hair-do that was a lighter colour than previously seen on the actor. His luxurious locks were windswept from the helicopter blades and Tom had a big cheesy smile on his face.

Tom flew into the UK from Tampa, Florida, aboard his private jet. He then was photographed getting on a black helicopter that would take him to the set for his upcoming project, Mission Impossible 8.

Tom wore white Nike trainers that were left untied. He donned a pair of jeans and a long-sleeve navy, knitted shirt that was rolled up to his elbows. In his left hand, he held a black backpack.

The 61-year-old has finally been allowed to work on the film since the SAG-AFTRA strike ended recently, letting actors go back to work. It was the longest strike in union history, starting back in July.

Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two, as the film is rumoured to be called, had started filming before the strike but had to halt production. The film was also set to premiere on June 28, 2024 but with the strike has now been pushed back to May 23, 2025.

"Lots of people believe that the color needs to set in your hair for a few days after coloring — that's actually just a myth," hair-color specialist Sydney Palmer tells PS. "The hair color doesn't set in any more than it already has if you wait to wash it."

So if you've ever wondered, "Can I wash my hair 24 hours after dyeing it?" you have your answer, once and for all. Hair-color specialist Jade Kromer adds that you can wash your hair as soon as you need to (although you likely won't need to that day if you're coming fresh from the salon). "Washing your hair right after you color it really isn't the problem," she says. "Focus more on what products you're using rather than time in between shampoos."

You might be wondering, why do salons wash your hair after coloring? The answer is simple: they want to make sure all the dye is out of your hair before getting you styled. They might even double-wash your hair: once to get rid of the dye, and a second time to fully cleanse your hair.

Why Is My Color Fading?

When it comes to hair dye, it's much more important to prevent the dye from leaching out than it is to let it "set" in your hair initially. Each strand of hair is surrounded by the cuticle, which is what traps the color in. When you wash your hair, particularly in hot water, you risk opening up the cuticle and letting the color bleed out. Palmer recommended washing colored hair in cooler water: "That makes your hair cuticle stay closed and keeps your hair color trapped inside the strands of hair. Warm water makes the cuticle more likely to open and let the color out, which is why color fades so fast."

Then comes the question of how to keep your hair color vibrant. If a cold shower doesn't sound appealing to you, you can also wash your hair less frequently and try to avoid water that's steaming hot. If you choose what's known as a "fashion color" for your hair, such as bright pink, orange, or purple, Kromer recommends washing just once a week and using dry shampoo in the meantime. These colors typically require bleaching the hair, which can make cuticles more porous and, therefore, more likely to leak color in the shower.

If you just have highlights or lowlights instead of full hair color, you can be a little more lax about water temperature, Palmer says. Less pigment in the hair means that the temperature of the water matters less. In addition to how frequently you wash your hair and the temperature, what you wash it with can make a big difference in how long your color lasts.

"The type of shampoo , conditioner, and products you use at home are the ultimate reason why your color is going to last or fade," Kromer says. "Drugstore shampoos may feel like they're getting your hair and scalp really clean, but they can have chemicals in them that are linked to fading of professional hair color. If you invest in your products, you'll realize how much more life you'll get from your color."

Some drugstore brands of shampoo and conditioner can contain synthetic ingredients like sulfates, parabens, silicone, and other ingredients that can strip the hair of its color. When you invest in high-quality hair care, you're investing in your hair color and overall hair health. Palmer also recommends watching out for clarifying shampoos, which are "great for getting your scalp clean, but more likely to strip hair of its color." As such, it's best to use those sparingly.

Should You Wash Your Hair Before Dying It?

The short answer: "Yes, but there's really no need," Palmer says. Your colorist will have done that for you. If you head straight from the salon to the gym and need to wash your hair afterward, don't fret — just use cooler water and quality products for your hair type. Palmer recommended washing no more than three times per week with cooler water and the right products. Another tip for avoiding dullness is to regularly use a hair-color mask like the Olaplex No. 8 Bond Intense Moisture Hair Mask ($30) or Shu Uemura's Color Lustre Treatment Mask for Color Treated Hair ($68).

Do You Need Shampoo to Rinse Out Hair Dye?

If you're dyeing your hair at home, when it's time to rinse it out, simply use cold water. You should continue rinsing your hair until the water runs completely clear, which signifies that all the dye has been washed out. From there, feel free to shampoo with your typical product and then follow up with a conditioner. Some manufacturers' instructions require forgoing shampoo after dyeing your hair, so make sure to read the instructions on the product you're using.

Tom Cruise's famous date to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour London show revealed

The mission impossible star was thought to have attended alone.

Tom Cruise was just one of many famous faces in the crowd for Taylor Swift's second London show of her Eras Tour on Saturday. 

The Top Gun: Maverick star, 61, was captured in fan videos smiling and enjoying himself while dancing to the music as he stood in the VIP tent alongside Taylor's boyfriend Travis Kelce, 34, and many other A-Listers. 

While Tom was thought to have attended the show at Wembley alone, he was, in fact, joined by his longtime collaborator and good friend, director Christopher McQuarrie, 55. 

Tom and Christopher have built up a solid friendship over the years and have worked together on several films, including Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One .

Swifties loved seeing Tom enjoying himself and exchanging friendship bracelets with fans in the crowds, with many taking to social media to share their shock over his attendance.

There were some people, however, who were unimpressed that Tom was in London the same weekend his daughter, Suri, graduated from high school.  

Tom is believed to be estranged from the 18-year-old he shares with his ex-wife, Katie Holmes , and he was not in attendance when she received her diploma from LaGuardia High School in New York on Friday.

As a young girl, Suri did appear to have a close relationship with her dad and was very much part of his spotlight. However, they have not been seen together in over a decade.

Suri recently gave a subtle but noticeable statement on the status of their relationship when she dropped 'Cruise' from her name. 

In May, she performed in Head Over Heels in New York, and it was revealed on the casting sheet that she adopted her mom's middle name and was listed as 'Suri Noelle' instead of 'Suri Cruise'. 

She also used the name 'Suri Noelle' in her graduation pamphlet, and will no doubt keep the new moniker when she attends Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the fall. 

Suri has lived with her mother since her parents' divorce in 2012 and Katie was awarded full custody. 

As part of their settlement, Tom agreed to pay $400,000 per year in child support, an arrangement which expired when Suri turned 18. Over the past 12 years, Tom’s contributions have totaled roughly $33,000 a month. 

Katie did not seek spousal support in their divorce, and Tom also covers Suri’s insurance bills and contributes to her college tuition. 

Katie and Suri have an incredibly close bond, with the Dawson's Creek alum telling Glamour last year: "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her.

"I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person." 

Speaking to InStyle in 2022, Katie also said: "I love her so much. My biggest goal has always been to nurture her into her individuality. To make sure she is 100 per cent herself and strong, confident, and able. And to know it."

'Mission: Impossible 8' Set Images — Tom Cruise Is on the Run

Is it a Mission: Impossible movie if Tom Cruise isn't running? Hell, is it a Tom Cruise movie if Tom Cruise isn't running? Well, good news folks, if the latest set images from Mission: Impossible 8 (definitely not the final title) are anything to go by—we're getting some running done and, from the looks of it, Ethan Hunt isn't doing so good. Images posted on Twitter have shown off Cruise in full pelt in front of London's Houses of Parliament, with Big Ben looming large in the background, and looking a little worse for wear, with his shirt bloodied. What has the Entity done this time?

The movie, once known as Dead Reckoning - Part Two , has been back in production for a while in the UK, after the previous installment— Dead Reckoning —shot a large portion of the film in and around the Peak District and Derbyshire area, including an incredible steam train crash which saw the locomotive plummet into a quarry. Given the length of Cruise's hair, too, the film will obviously carry a significant time jump from the last film which will add an air of intrigue to the plot.

What Can We Expect from 'Mission: Impossible 8'?

While the film is no longer titled Part Two , its writer and director Christopher McQuarrie fully believes this is the concluding part of a story that began in Dead Reckoning , as he explained during an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub at the film's premiere back in July.

"I knew I wanted to expand the cast, and I knew I wanted to give each one of those characters more to do, so I knew the movie was going to be bigger and longer than Fallout [ the previous movie]. And at which point I said, 'Why are we fighting this? Why are we going to try to jam this into two hours? Let's just break it in half and make it two movies.' That really was the rationale behind it being a two-part movie. It just it wasn't just that the story was bigger but that we wanted more emotion in the movie. At that time, the studio were actually very genuinely excited about it. And, you know, I think we were excited about it too. And then there were times when we were on set, and Tom would look at me, and he'd say, 'This was your idea. Just remember that.'”
