The Ichamati River (Ichamoti Nodi) is the main attraction of Taki. A boat ride in the Ichamati River is an experience you cannot miss. The India – Bangladesh Border runs through the middle of this river here in Taki.

Ichamati River - Places to Visit in Taki

The Ichamati River (Ichamoti Nodi) is the main attraction of Taki. A boat ride on the Ichamati River offers a mesmerizing experience you cannot miss. One important thing to be noted here is that this river runs through the border between India and Bangladesh. Therefore, Indian Flags will be flying on all the boats cruising the Ichamati River. Additionally, you will see boats hoisted with Bangladeshi flags on the other side of the river. You will also see Bangladeshi boats approaching and tourists waving at you. The boat ride here will cost you around 40 Rs per person if you take a boat on sharing basis with 20 other people.

Golota Forest

Golota Forest - Places to visit in Taki

Golpata Forest is often referred to as Mini Sundarban, and one can experience the mangrove forest on a smaller scale. It is difficult to walk inside any mangrove forest as they would be either half-submerged underwater or if the water recedes during low tide, then the place will be muddy, and walking on them is just impossible. At Golpata Forest, however, the authorities have constructed a concrete bridge in a labyrinth manner, taking you around the forest so that you can enjoy nature and not have to walk on slushy mud or knee-deep water. You get to enjoy the surroundings from a safe height. There is also a watchtower that is still under construction, and from the top, you get a magnificent panoramic view of the forest. The entry fee for this place is ten Rs, which needs to be paid at the entrance. You can ideally spend around an hour exploring this place.

Kuleshwari Kali Bari Temple

The Kuleshwar Kali Bari is a historic temple opined to be of high spiritual standing in the local community. The present structure is new and dates back close to a century. Devi Kali is active in this temple and fulfills her disciples’ wishes. When you visit this place, you will feel positive vibes.

Joramandir - Places to visit in taki

The twin Jormandirs dedicated to Lord Shiva on the edge of a small pond spread a very ethereal vibe and sublime views. There is a deep sense of serenity out here as one sits on the edge of the pond watching the slow movement of the people and time. These temples are close to 400 years old.

Puber Bari - Places to visit in Taki

Puber Bari is one of the old Zamindari households abandoned now and is slowly crumbling down. It would be good if the Tourism dept stepped in to renovate the structure, thus preserving another gem in Best of Taki places to explore. It was ruined and closed, and Taki Municipality took the authority. At the time of Durga Puja, locals organize Puja for five days, and outsiders are allowed to enter during that time.

Durga Dalan Mandir

Taki Durga Dalan is a 300-year-old structure where the community Durga Puja happens. The structure is accessible only during the Puja times, and the unique aspect is that the idol is prepared right at the Dolan itself and not built anywhere else.

A nice article. I did not know that such a place existed near Kolkata. We come to know about the vastness of our country when we read about such new places. I had been to Kolkata long back and had a sightseeing tour of the city also but did not hear this name probably because of the distance involved as it can not be covered in the city tour.

I have some interest in writing on travel related matters and places of interest so I usually go through such articles in the magazines or net. I have also not heard about this unique place near Kolkata. It is a very informative article posted by the author so that the readers are getting aware of such beautiful place near one of the metro city of our country. Kolkata is already a great tourist place as it has so much to offer to the domestic or foreign tourists and addition of this place makes it much more attractive.

Thanks to the members who have gone through this article. At the first instance, I would like to state that Taki is a very ancient locality and the Kolkatans are generally aware of this tourist spot. But very few people outside West Bengal know about this excellent place very near to Kolkata. Tourists can enjoy the sublime beauty of River Ichhamati when it is in full flow during monsoon. In a peaceful winter evening, they can sit on the banks of the river and enjoy the sunset. They can also enjoy the beauty in motor-boats. However, they should not try to land on the other bank of the river, which is in Bangladesh. As Taki is a very ancient locality, the temples are also very old. The family mansion of India's former General Shankar Roychoudhuri is also at Taki. If the tourists want to return to Kolkata on the same day, they can do it very easily. But I am sure that the beauty of River Ichhamati and Taki won't allow them to do so.

Thanks a lot for this wonderful article about Taki, a nice work done here. It is very useful for a new traveller like me. We are waiting for more such articles. As a new traveler, I have only experienced a great trip to Sundarban.

Plan a Perfect Trip to Taki, the Border Town of West Bengal

Its in our nature to think about either the sea or the mountains as a great place for a vacation. But there are many interesting places that don't take a whole day to reach, yet are filled with countless instances of joy. Taki, a town at the border of West Bengal and Bangladesh, is already a tourist spot for many reasons. Once a village, Taki has its own old-world charm and aesthetics; you'll realise that while visiting the centuries-old temples and marketplaces dating back to the colonial era. The Ichamati River flows along with the banks of Taki, seperating India from Bangladesh. Simply walking alongside the river while the barbwire is visible on the other side is a different experience, after all. What if I told you that being one with nature can also be a thrilling experience? Once you delve deep into the stories of the colonial era and the atrocities faced by the locals at the hands of the British, chilled waves will go down through your spine. Not only will you feel bad, but the consequences will haunt you to the core. Yes, the neelkuthi and numerous incidents of paranormal activities will definitely keep you up at night. Mangalgunj is the perfect place for listening to such incidents in front of a bonfire—the classic way of storytelling. You can get your share of thrills on haunted trail walks, and if you're too afraid, the serene beauty of nature and calming Ichamati River are enough to soothe your soul. The Bibhutibhusan Bird Sanctuary is notable for numerous species of birds and other lifeforms, making it a sensory treat for nature enthusiasts. Thinking of offbeat, untrodden locations? Kapashati is little known for its remoteness, hence a wonderful escapade in the lap of nature. located in the north 24 Parganas and close to the India- bangladesh border, it is a hub for birds and other lifeforms, knitting a close tie to the greenery. Boat rides at the Ichamoti River and enjoying warm food beside bonfires are the key takeaways at this location.

We believe Sonar Bangla Taki will change the scenario.

Sonar Bangla Taki is a perfect escapade to provide you with the scenic natural beauty without venturing into long miles because this talked about gem is hidden nowhere other than Bengal at a distance of about 2 hours from Kolkata. Taki is a place, mesmerizing enough with the gurgling sound of the Ichamati River , the heritage buildings of the zamindars and the spectacular border of Bangladesh.

If the above mentioned doesn’t suffice the beauty of the place, then the Goddess Durga idol immersion ceremony needs a special mention. Explore Bengal like never before and Taki takes the full responsibility to provide your weary souls with perfect rejuvenating vacation.

With all that it has to offer, Hotel Sonar Bangla Taki will certainly changethe tourism scenario in Taki.
