Understanding Cruise Price Drops After Your Final Payment

Picture of Doug Parker

Doug Parker

  • June 2, 2024

Cruise price drops are a common concern, especially if they happen after paying for your trip. So what happens if your cruise price drops after you’ve already paid for it? Below are some helpful tips on maximizing the value of your cruise.

msc cruise cozumel cruise price drops

How Cruise Pricing Works

It’s important to remember that cruise pricing is dynamic and constantly changing based on supply and demand.

As a result, it is not uncommon for cruise lines to offer promotions or discounts to stimulate demand for a particular sailing or stateroom category.

life ring carnival mardi gras

This often leaves passengers wondering what happens if a cruise price drops after booking – and whether they are entitled to a refund or other compensation.

Passengers need to understand the reasons behind a price drop and whether it is likely to continue before deciding whether to pursue a refund or compensation claim.

Not all price drops result in a refund, and passengers should know the potential impact on their existing reservation when booking their cruise because it may be too late afterward.

Understanding Cruise Price Drops

Carnival Firenze Exterior

Booking a cruise excites everyone – after all, you’re counting down the days before you go on vacation – but it can also be frustrating when prices drop after you’ve booked.

The price for a cruise is basic economics – when demand is high, prices tend to increase.

Cruise prices fluctuate for various reasons, including changes in demand and supply and external factors such as geopolitical events, natural disasters, and weather conditions. These changes can result in price drops, which may be temporary or permanent.

Conversely, when demand is low, prices tend to decrease. This means prices vary based on the season, itinerary, and cabin availability. In some cases, cruise lines may purposely price a voyage higher than usual to decrease demand for that sailing in the hope that consumers choose another one.

celebrity edge magic carpet

Importantly, cruise prices are not set in stone and may change multiple times before the sailing date. This means that if a lower price becomes available, you may be able to take advantage of the lower price, even after you’ve already booked.

You should monitor cruise fares regularly to take advantage of a cruise price drop.

Many cruise lines offer price protection guarantees, which means that if the price of a cruise drops after booking, the traveler can receive a refund for the difference.

But these guarantees often have restrictions and limitations, so reading the fine print is essential.

Impact of Cruise Price Drops on Existing Bookings

Celebrity Edge Return Trip Report

When cruise prices drop after booking, it can be frustrating for travelers who have already committed to paying a specific price. Cruise operators understand the potential impact of these price drops on existing bookings.

Firstly, not all cruise lines offer price protection or price adjustment policies—the price is the price, no matter what.

“Travelers should check with their travel agent or carefully review the terms and conditions of their ticket contract to determine if they are eligible,” travel agent Becky Smith told us.

Carnival Vista cruise ship

For cruise lines that offer price protection – which essentially says that consumers are entitled to compensation or a refund in the event of a price change – travelers may be eligible for a refund or onboard credit if their cruise price drops before the final payment is due.

Further, travelers who have already made their final payment may not be eligible for any compensation if the price of their cruise drops.

Sometimes, it doesn’t warrant paying in full early if you can’t take advantage of a price drop. In this case, the traveler may take advantage of any promotions or discounts offered at the time of the price drop, but they will not receive a refund or onboard credit.

Policies on Cruise Price Drops

Carnival Magic sea day

When prices drop, many consumers simply say, “I’ll cancel and rebook at the lower price.” But not so fast.

Depending on the terms and conditions of the original booking, canceling may result in penalties or fees that could outweigh any potential savings from rebooking at a lower price and are not worth the hassle of rebooking just to save a few dollars.

Cruise Policy Variations

nassau bahamas Carnival Liberty

Policies on price drops vary from one cruise line to another. Some cruise lines offer price protection programs that allow passengers to claim the difference as an onboard credit, while others may offer refunds or the option to rebook at a lower price.

Carnival also offers its Early Saver program that allows guests to claim price drops until the final payment date. After the final payment, adjustments can be made to recoup the difference in the form of an onboard credit.

odyssey of the seas port everglades florida lauderdale

Royal Caribbean offers a similar program called “ Price Protection ,” which allows passengers to claim the difference in price up until 72 hours before the sailing date.

Becky Smith of Becky’s Travel Biz tells us that while these programs are quite popular and have saved consumers thousands of dollars, there is a caveat.

Smith says, “To take advantage of a price drop, the same category must be available to reprice a reservation, and it also must be available with the same occupancy for the booking.” So read the fine print carefully.

On the other hand, some cruise lines, particularly more upscale or all-inclusive lines – do not offer any price protection programs. If the price drops after booking, passengers who book with these companies are not eligible for refunds or credits.

Cruise Contract Terms and Conditions

grandeur of the seas and valiant lady in portmiami

Cruise line policies on price drops also come with specific terms and conditions. Although these can vary from one cruise line to another, some common ones include:

  • The lower price must be for the same sailing date , stateroom type, and itinerary.
  • The lower price must be publicly available and not part of a restricted or private offer.
  • The price drop must be significant enough to qualify for the program (e.g., $50 or more).
  • Passengers must submit their claim within a specific time frame (e.g., 48 hours of booking).

Passengers should read and understand the terms and conditions of the price protection program before booking their cruise. Failure to meet any requirements may result in a denied claim.

Becky said, “A great example of a price restriction is cruise promotions, including free airfare. If the cruise fare drops after the final payment, the free air promo will not be available at that time, meaning that  difference in the cruise fare cannot be claimed, nor are any upgrades provided for this cabin.”

Steps to Take If a Price Drop Occurs

A renovated hot tub on the deck of the Norwegian Joy cruise ship.

If you’ve already booked a cruise and noticed that the price has dropped, don’t worry. You can take steps to receive a refund or onboard credit.

Monitoring Cruise Price Drops

The key to catching a price drop is regularly monitoring the cruise price. Cruiseline.com offers price drop alerts that will notify you if your cruise costs drop via an email or text alert.

With the constant fluctuation in cruise pricing, these alerts can be a real money saver.

Contacting the Cruise Line or Travel Agent

allure of the seas galveston texas terminal

When your cruise price drops, the first step is to contact the cruise line or travel agent you booked through .

When contacting the cruise line or travel agent, be sure to have your booking information and specific details (the more specific, the better) of the price drop on hand.

It’s also important to be polite and respectful when speaking with customer service representatives. They are more likely to help you if you are friendly and understanding.

(Note: Remember, guest service reps are simply there to answer your call – they don’t create the policies themselves – so patience and understanding go a long way.)

Possible Outcomes of a Price Drop Claim

outdoor seating area at the pizza place

There are several possible outcomes if a cruise passenger notices a price drop after booking.

The cruise line’s policies and the timing of the claim will determine the options available to the passenger.

If guests request that the pricing for a booking be adjusted due to a drop in the cruise fare, all portions of the reservation can change. The prepaid gratuities may have been established at a rate that was initially at a lower amount.

If the booking is changed to claim a lower cruise fare, the prepaid gratuities can be increased to reflect the current amount established by the cruise line.

The same situation can develop with cruise port taxes/fees , as those may have increased. So, guests must ensure they gain more than they lose in the long run.

Cruise Stateroom Upgrades

A room on a Carnival cruise with a bed and a mirror.

One possible outcome of a price drop claim is a stateroom upgrade. Some cruise lines offer promotions for staterooms to passengers who have booked a lower-category stateroom and subsequently see a price reduction for a higher-category cabin.

The availability of upgrades depends on the cruise line’s policies, the timing of the claim, and the availability of the higher category stateroom.

Passengers who make their claims early are more likely to receive an upgrade than those who wait until closer to the sailing date.

Cruise Line Onboard Credit

A luxurious lounge chair with green lights in front of a glass wall aboard the Norwegian Joy.

Another possible outcome of a price drop claim is onboard credit , which is applied to your shipboard account and can be used for virtually any purchase onboard, be it shore excursions, drinks, spa treatments, or even gratuities.

The credit amount varies depending on the cruise line’s policies and the price drop.

Refund Difference

mardi gras casino carnival

Although not always offered since providing stateroom upgrades or shipboard credits is more economically advantageous to the cruise line, a third possible outcome of a price drop claim is a refund of the difference between the original and lower prices.

The timing of the claim is essential, as some cruise lines have deadlines for submitting a claim. Passengers who miss the deadline may not be eligible for a refund.

Tips to Protect Your Cruise Investment

Booking with a Price Drop Guarantee

When booking a cruise, looking for a cruise line with a price drop guarantee is always a good idea. If the price of your cruise drops after you’ve booked, you can receive a stateroom upgrade, onboard credit, or refund credit for the difference.

Some cruise lines have specific timeframes for when you can receive a refund or credit, so it’s essential to read the fine print.

Not all stateroom categories or sailings may be eligible for a price drop guarantee, so checking with the cruise line before booking is important.

Purchasing Travel Insurance

Travel Insurance Chart

Another way to protect your cruise investment is by purchasing travel insurance , which can help protect you from unexpected events, such as illness or weather-related cancellations.

When purchasing your cruise, travel insurance is typically available through the cruise line or an independent third-party provider.

It’s essential to read the explanation of benefits (EOB) inside the policy carefully to understand what is covered and what is not.

Some policies may have specific exclusions for pre-existing conditions or certain activities, so it’s important to know what you’re getting before purchasing.

Travel Insurance is Recommended

cozumel mexico cruise ships multiple

While travel insurance is strongly encouraged, it’s not mandatory. Dan Skiken, President of Trip Insurance.com , put it bluntly, “If a cruise line, tour operator, or travel agent tells you that you must buy travel insurance through them, they are lying.”

He noted the differences between buying vacation protection (which primarily covers your cruise) and travel insurance (which covers both on and off-the-ship events such as airline delays, lost luggage, medical coverage shoreside, and missing the ship due to a transportation issue).

In addition to protecting your investment, travel insurance can provide peace of mind while on your cruise.

If something does happen, you can rest assured that you’re covered and won’t be left with unexpected expenses.

Final Thoughts of Cruise Line Price Drops

Norwegian Cruise Line refreshments

Book with a Price Drop Guarantee to ensure you get the most value from your cruise. This will protect you against losing money in case of price drops and may offer stateroom upgrades, onboard credits, or refunds.

It’s important to note that getting a cruise price drop may not be as simple as it seems. The devil is in the details. If all of this seems like too much work, you can always wait and shop around for last-minute cruise deals .

However, it’s worth mentioning that even those are becoming increasingly rare these days.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can i get a refund if my cruise price drops after booking.

Not all cruise lines offer refunds, so it’s best to check with them or your travel agent to see if you’re eligible for one if the fare drops after booking.

When is the best time to book a cruise to get the best price?

The best time to book a cruise for the best price is typically during Wave Season, which runs from January to March. This is when most cruise lines offer special deals and promotions.

Is it worth waiting for last-minute cruise deals to save money?

There is a misperception that last-minute cruise deals are available closer to sailing and will offer these staterooms a huge discount. That is not the case, especially with higher occupancies these days.

4 Ways to Check for Price Drops on Cruises

Ben Souza

With some fare codes, you can even get onboard credit up until 72 hours before your cruise if the price drops. It is best to always know the rules behind the fare code that you are booking. However, what is the best way to monitor price drops and how can you know if the price of your cabin has gone down?  Here are four ways to make sure that you don’t overpay on your next cruise.

Check Yourself – The most common method of checking for price drops is to manually check and see if your cabin category is now selling at a lower rate.  To find this out, simply do a mock booking on the cruise line’s site and see if your cabin category is selling for a lower price.  If it is, you can then contact the cruise line or your travel agent (whoever you booked through) to get the lower price.

CruiseFish.net – CruiseFish.net  has an automated tool that searches price drops for you, saving you time from doing it yourself.  If you were to book a cruise 6 months in advance and check every day to see if the price went down, you would spend approximately four hours (two minutes per day) over the four months until final payment.  For 99 cents, CruiseFish will do this for you and send you an email if there has been a price reduction. Saving four hours of time for less than a buck?  Sounds like a dollar well spent!

Ship Mate   – The world’s #1 cruise app now offers a price drop feature that will monitor and alert you anytime the price of your cruise cabin drops more than 1%.  The feature is currently available on Apple and Android products.   For those who do not use the app, you can also set yourself up with price drop alerts on their parent company’s website  Cruiseline.com .  Just search for your cruise, and click on the “Set up FREE Price Alert” icon.  It’s super easy and the entire process takes less than 60 seconds.

Travel Agent – A good travel agent (keyword: good) will check for price drops for you and automatically get you the lower price.  Not all travel agents will do this. You will want to ask any potential travel agent that you might use if this is included in their services.

Where Every Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Will Sail To/From in 2025

I’m a cruiser since the 90’s. what i miss most about cruising of yesteryear, cruise ship terminal reopens but with limited air conditioning, carnival cruise line’s latest on cruises out of galveston, related articles, 4 things cruise lines want you to ignore, 8 things i skipped on my cruise to save money, what happens if there is a hurricane during my cruise dates.

how do you find your cabin category on carnivals cruise lines site ? All I ever see is balcony no categories ? We are 8E but I can not find an 8 E…just balconies ???? I am trying to see if the price drops on both of the cruises we are taking in nov and dec of 2020

Didn’t cruisefish go out of business?

CHANGE your travel agent, a deposit IS refundable before final payment (I do not know ANY of the cruise lines that do not offer that) or can be transferred , but if you already did final payment, get a category upgrade, cruise credit or SOMETHING, that is why a travel agent is good, because they can do that for you, if you are not comfortable doing that, if you booked it directly (which I never do) and the cruise line has a personal cruise consultant you used first contact him/her but if not the regular, be persistent and get the same thing (after final payment they will NEVER refund your monies).

And FYI for all you Carnival (not me for sure!) passengers, they have two options a Price Protection Policy for Early Bookers, if the price goes down, you get the difference in cruise credits or an upgrade, and if you doń´t use it up, they send you a check for the difference, this happened to a woman at my dining table when they removed the 100% single supplement, she found out BEFORE the cruise sailed (they will NOT do anything after the cruises leaves-which I found out much to my bitterness. Fairness is not paramount to them.)

Two, on Carnival if you do not like your cruise, if you get off on the first port, they pay to have you returned to your departure point and give you a refund of 110 percent of what you paid. (Hope a lot of people take advantage of this.)

I have a very, VERY good travel agent, but I may not be able to post that information here (it was removed from all the other cruise forums) but go to Trip Advisor and in the search in the forum for a thread ¨The difference between a cruise travel agent and a booker” and you will be able to contact me and I can give you his name.

Cruisefish is excellent and well worth the cost. I didn’t sign up for a long time, because while the cost per cruise is only 99 cents, you have to purchase 5 credits up front. That said, just one price drop and you’ve made your money back many times over.

I have also heard that good TA’s find price drops for you. And a former TA told me that they had a system that did it for them (but he never found me anything). But I’ve yet to hear of one that actually does it. I’m sailing on a British Isles cruise this summer that had some pretty major price drops that were probably due to a pricing error. Cruisefish caught them and I was able to save hundreds of dollars by calling my TA and getting the price adjusted. She hadn’t noticed them, and when I posted the info on the sailing’s roll call thread on another site, no one said “my TA got me that already”. So bottom line, I really do question whether this is true.

What happens when the travel agent tells u that your deposit is non refundable and if I want the new fare they will have to rebook therefore loosing the whole deposit

Cruise Fare Tracking Will Save You A Fortune. Here’s How

by Gary Bembridge · April 5, 2022

Cruise Fare Tracking Will Save You A Fortune

Cruise Fare Tracking Will Save You A Fortune

Cruise ship fare tracking could save you a fortune off your cruise. It has for me and many people that follow my channel who follow my advice to do it. Every week passengers contact me to tell me how they had their fares cut, got upgrades or extra on-board credit. It is easy to do.

Once you have booked a cruise, you should set up a fare tracker. If you see the fare fall then contact the cruise line and ask them to match the new fare. Some lines are better than others, so you may have to request to be upgraded so you get a cabin at that new price for you old fare, or ask for On-Board credit.

The rewards can be huge. I have been upgraded to a suite and even on one recent cruise where I saw the price fall by half, mostly as they had dropped the solo supplement I got $1,500 back.

Lines will be most flexible before you have paid final balance, So, I would do a check before paying that. I recommend doing a “dummy booking” on the cruise line website as that will default to where you have booked before approaching the cruise line. I do a booking at same cabin grade to check the pricing and then act.

Here are three sites I use and a guide to set up a tracker on each.

CRUISEWATCH.COM – FARE TRACKER

Cruisewatch.com is the easiest. Though they tend to cover USA-passenger centric lines, so you will not find liens like P&O Cruises, SAGA etc. Nevertheless, they are a great tool for cruise ship fare tracking, regardless.

Go to https://www.cruisewatch.com/cruise-price-alerts

cruise fare tracker

Enter your ship, select trip (they will list all the scheduled cruises of that ship), grade of cabin booked and your email address

cruise fare tracker

Check they confirm your tracker is set up. This will appear. The first time you set up an alert you will get an email with a link to confirm your email.

Receive email updates like the one below for your cruise ship fare (This is for a trip I already have set up)

CRUISELINE – FARE TRACKER

Go to CRUISE PRICE ALERTS on Cruiseline.com and enter the cruise line, ship, month and cruise. Then your email address and save.

Step 2 – Get alerts when prices change

royal caribbean cruise price tracker

CRUISECRITIC – FARE TRACKER

This is not as simple but still works, and is good for covering cruise lines that CruiseWatch.Com do not have.

Go to FIND A CRUISE on CruiseCritic.com and enter when and where you want to go

royal caribbean cruise price tracker

Find your cruise from the list that search returns, and click on the “FARE INSIGHT” heading which will bring up the option to set a tracker. The insight, unlike Cruisewatch.com will show recent typical and highest prices). Enter your email address and click “Save Price Alert”

Cruise Fare Tracker

You will get a confirmation that the tracker is set up

For our cruise, the cruise line payment deadline was about 9 months before the cruise. After the deadline, another round of price reductions was offered. What do I do then, since I’ve already paid in full.

' src=

Contact the line, or if you booked through agent, showing the difference and askign for either upgrade so you are paying what you would now for a better cabin or ask for the difference in on-board credit. They will not refund you. I have had both of those work for me. Gary

' src=

Hi Gary! Two quick questions. If you book your travel through a travel agent, should you or the agent contact the cruiseline for the reduced fare if using a fare tracker? Also, for Holland America – have they done away with the traditional “formal” night and replaced with “gala”? I have no interest in buying a formal gown, but always wear nicer clothing to dinner on a cruise (nice slacks or dress, husband would always wear a collared shirt and slacks – not jeans). Thanks!

Cruise watch doesn’t have my cruise in it’s database. I’m book on the Carnival Spirit on Feb 11 2024 and trying to find a way to keep track of the price. CW has ships that have been scrapped and doesn’t have mine. Go Figure!

have a look at cruiseline.com as they also have a tracker and will update the post with how to follow them too

Cruise Price History: How it can Help You Save

Looking at the past can tell us quite a bit about the future. For example about the best time to book that cruise .

We love to combine data and cruises. That’s the reason we do analyze the cruise price history of all trips every day and every second. We have done this for years and have amassed a treasure trove of data on the cruising industry. Our collections gives us great knowledge of the price itself and how it fluctuates over time. This can be a great help to you when booking your cruise!

How does the cruise price history help me?

No one likes the feeling of booking their cruise at yesterday’s best price and then discovering that others have booked it much cheaper.

We can help you avoid that situation. One thing we do is compare websites and prices in real-time to get you the best deal available. But we have also found that the biggest savings come from booking at the right point of time. We can save you a lot of money by showing you the best time to book.

Our cruise price history is unique per ship. To see it in action and learn how it can help you save money, just click the linked ship’s name and go to the “price history“ layer in our ship selection.

You will get a graphical representation of the cruise price history for the given ship, by cabin type. It will look something like this:

How do we find that value in cruise price history

The chart shows you the historic pricing for oceanview cabins on Celebrity Eclipse. You can see how the pricing changes over time with the left hand side of the graph showing 600 days before departure and the right hand side being departure day.

Historic Pricing Oceanview

We have normalized all pricing at 100 so that you can see price drops and hikes. The orange line is the average pricing line with the other lines showing statistical boundaries.

In this example, the pricing trend is generally upwards in the beginning with moderate increases of about 3%. Price reductions start about 60 days before departure with the lowest pricing around 40 days.

Of course, this is just the average. Cruise pricing will always be impacted by individual demand and supply. As you can see, there are sailings that have significant price increases fairly early. Such sailings are typically in high demand seasons (such as public holidays). And there is also a very active last minute season with strong pricing drops about 90 to 25 days before departure (red line).

Keep this in mind when looking at current cruise prices and check out the pricing history of the ship you are interested in. To do this, browse through the cruise lines, pick a ship, click on “analytics” and then choose a cabin type.

Will I Have to Check Prices Every Day?

Not at all. We offer a next generation alert service. Simply choose your relevant set of cruise trips or cabin types and then define when and why you want to receive alert messages. We can send an alert, for example, only when the cruise trip now offers its best price ever or when we award it a Good Deal rating.

Cruise fare tracking – how to save money on your next cruise

Cruise fare tracking - How to save money before or after you book your cruise.

How do you know you get the best price when you book your cruise? Cruise fare tracking allows you to monitor the price of cruises over time, enabling you to book at the best price.

Everyone wants a great deal when booking a holiday. Regardless of how much your vacation costs, you want to feel you are getting value in return for your hard-earned money. You can save money on your next cruise vacation by watching prices. And this means more cash to spend on shore excursions or an extra night at a pre-cruise hotel .

This article explains what cruise fare tracking is, why it’s essential, and how it works. We will also provide names of cruise fare-tracking websites to help you find the best deals on your next cruise.

Quick navigation

How cruise prices can fluctuate

When it comes to booking a cruise, timing is everything. Prices of cruises vary greatly depending on several factors, such as the region where you want to cruise, the cruise ship you choose, your cabin category, and the cruise itinerary.

The time of year you wish to cruise will also affect the price. For example, fees for a Caribbean cruise during the peak winter months may be significantly higher than those in the fall or spring. Additionally, costs for a balcony cabin may be higher than prices for an interior cabin.

Why is cruise fare tracking important?

Cruise fare tracking helps you stay on top of these fluctuations by monitoring prices over time. You can determine the best time to book your trip by tracking prices. The aim is to save money and get the best price possible when you book your cruise.

Cruise fare tracking tools provide transparency and allow you to compare prices across different itineraries and sailing dates, giving you more options when planning your vacation.

What are the best cruise fare tracking tools to use?

We recommend several excellent cruise fare-tracking websites to help you track prices for your chosen cruise.

Cruisewatch : This website allows you to submit a request for a cruise and then provides real-time price alerts. Use the tool as part of your planning before you book to find the best deal. And also, set up the alert even after you are already booked, and they will inform you of any price drop so that you can request a refund from the cruise line.

Follow the instructions when setting up your alert by entering information such as ship name, date of travel and name of the cruise, and your cabin category. Note that this website mainly focuses on American cruise lines and may not list every cruise line worldwide.

Cruise Critic : This is one of the best websites for checking cruise prices and joining groups of fellow cruisers traveling on the same itinerary as you on the same date. Follow the instructions, set up your price alerts, and receive an email confirmation. If you don’t see any emails, always check your spam folder, as occasionally, mail can get diverted there.

Royal Caribbean Cruise Line : If you are a fan of Royal Caribbean and are planning your next cruise with them, you’ll be pleased to know the cruise line has set up its price alert feature on its website. You must create an account and sign in to activate this feature.

Cruiseline.com : Set up your price alerts by entering the cruise you want to track, and receive price information by email. The best thing to do is to enter the same cruise information as you have done for other price alert websites and thereby be able to compare the prices for precisely the same sailing.

CruiseDirect.com : CruiseDirect is one of our favorite cruise providers and cruise price comparison websites. They offer a price guarantee and have access to great deals on all the major cruise lines.

Why do cruise prices fluctuate?

When using these websites, it’s important to remember that prices fluctuate for many reasons. For example, a cruise price can drop because a cruise is not filling up as quickly as the cruise line had hoped. However, it is also possible that a price drop could indicate that a particular sailing is not as desirable as others, for example, if the ship is older.

It is essential to research and read the cruise reviews before you decide. And by monitoring prices over time, you can determine the best time to book your trip and potentially save a significant amount of money.

What can I do if the price drops but I have already paid a deposit?

It can be frustrating if you have already paid a deposit for a cruise but later see the price drop. You need to contact your travel agent or the cruise line directly.

First, a good travel agent should inform you of a price drop and work on your behalf with the cruise line to have them match the new lower price to your existing booking. Travel agents should monitor the prices of cruises on behalf of their customers and pass on any savings to you.

If you booked directly, call the cruise line and ask them to adjust the price of your cruise so it matches their new, lower price. Many have a price protection policy. Be sure to read the policy when booking and understand the rules.

Once the cruise line has adjusted your price, it should send you a new booking confirmation with the new price. Most often, cruise lines only change the price before the final payment. In other words, if you have only paid the deposit.

Once your cruise is fully paid for, it is almost impossible to adjust your price, even if it is at a new lower cost. So don’t be in a hurry to pay for your cruise. Wait until the final payment deadline before paying the balance.

By understanding the terms and conditions of your booking when you book, you may be able to recoup some of the cost of your trip if the cruise line drops the price of your cruise. Additionally, keep an eye on the cruise fare tracking websites and set price alerts for your trip so you get the best price possible.
