James Blunt Announces ‘Who We Used To Be’ 2024 Australian Tour

"It’s been a few years since I last toured Down Under, and you’ve always been like a second home to me."

After a six-year hiatus, James Blunt is back touring and headed for Australia in November 2024 following the release of his Who We Used To Be album.

Five shows have been announced, and early bird pre-sale tickets are available from 10 am on Wednesday, December 6, and on general sale Friday, December 8.

The Afterlove Tour was Blunt's last tour in Australia, following the album release of the same name. Blunt says he has an affinity for Down Under and looks forward to getting back there.

Who We Used To Be , directed by Craig Bingham , is a number that captures Blunt’s past with the Beside You track, one of the first to be released. The Beside You video shows Blunt meeting previous versions of himself, embracing them as he moves forward. 

“Some albums are a struggle to write because I’ve got less to write about, and I think you can probably spot that with the quality of the album. And some of them just come naturally. I wrote this album very quickly, with great ease. I feel this album is one that I’ve nailed, lyrically – it’s just come at the right time, for my time of life,” he said.

The Who We Used To Be tour will celebrate Blunt’s much-loved discography, showcasing his popular hits and new material from the album.

Blunt released his Greatest Hits album, The Stars Beneath My Feet, in 2021, with the artist saying that compiling his music felt more like a beginning than an ending to his work and something that was for him.

“You think that it signifies an end, mentally – a gathering of all your work. But it also signifies a new start to me, because the record label called me up and told me they were signing me to a new deal, so – a new beginning.

“And it’s also a kind of release: you think, “OK, you can do whatever you like now, this is all gravy, this is a bonus. You’ve got my Greatest Hits; that’s what I’m known for; the next stuff isn’t going to be on the Greatest Hits – surely not – so this is all… bonus tracks. For me. I really approached this album for me.”

Early bird tickets go on sale at 10 am on Wednesday, December 6, and on general sale on Friday, December 8 via Destroy All Lines .

Who We Used To Be is James’ first studio album since the acclaimed, top 3 Once Upon A Mind in 2019. This time out he has worked with a variety of producers including Jonny Coffer, Red Triangle, Jack & Coke and Steve Robson. James Blunt – the English musician responsible for some of the most shamelessly (and delightfully) saccharine love songs of the noughties – has announced dates for an upcoming Australian tour, which will take him through our major cities twenty years after the release of his magnum opus You’re Beautiful .

When is James Blunt in Sydney?

Starting in Brisbane on November 21 2024, James Blunt’s Who We Used To Be tour will comprise five arena shows – taking over Sydney’s Aware Super Theatre on Saturday, November 23 2024. Blunt’s last headline show on Australian soil took place over six years ago, and the singer has stated his eagerness to get back in front of Australian fans. “ It’s been a few years since I last toured Down Under, and you’ve always been like a second home to me.  I cannot wait to be touring there again and playing for some of the best audiences in the world!" Blunt has said.

What will James Blunt’s Sydney show be like?

Though the show is a celebration of his most recent album, fans can expect to hear favourites from Blunt’s discography alongside new material.

How can I get tickets to the James Blunt show and how much do they cost?  

Early bird pre-sale tickets will be available from 10am on Wednesday, December 6 2023 via  Destroy All Lines , and on general sale via  Ticketek   from 9am on Friday, December 8. Ticket prices are yet to be released.

Does tix sell the actual tickets themselves.

TIX is a marketing channel for live entertainment. We promote events but do not process ticket orders. James Blunt Announces 2024 Australian Tour

Self-aware adult-contemporary singer-songwriter James Blunt will return to Australia for a run of arena shows in November 2024. The tour will mark Blunt’s first since 2018 , and is in support of his seventh studio album, Who We Used to Be , which was released in October.

Blunt had previously planned to visit Australia in 2020 in support of his 2019 album, Once Upon a Mind , on a co-headline run with Jason Mraz . The tour was ultimately cancelled , however, due to COVID-19 restrictions.

James Blunt – ‘Goodbye My Lover’

“Australia, I’m coming to get you,” said Blunt in a press statement announcing the tour. “It’s been a few years since I last toured Down Under, and you’ve always been like a second home to me. I cannot wait to be touring there again and playing for some of the best audiences in the world.”

Blunt first toured Australia in 2006 around the peak of his popularity, following the release of his 2005 debut album, Back to Bedlam . In addition to his signature song, ‘You’re Beautiful’, that album contained the hits ‘Goodbye My Lover’ (#3 in Australia) and ‘Wise Men’ (#11 in Australia).

The album topped the charts locally, selling over 670,000 units and going nine times platinum – a feat only surpassed in his native Britain, where it did so 11 times. The UK singer was also based in Australia for a time, serving as a judge on The X Factor Australia in 2015 alongside Chris Isaak, Guy Sebastian and Dannii Minogue.

Unbelievable! Best show I've ever been to! He has such an amazing voice and is so natural with it. He makes the show inclusive for the audience and his funny stories really tie the experience together.

An amazing performance with so much energy. Far far better than we even hoped. The only criticism was that the onscreen projection audio and video were out of synch, which was really irritating. We were sitting near the techies and I passed the info to the security guys who were literally only 3m from the sound desk but they didn’t bother passing the message on. Shame as I had explained that I’m a videographer so wasn’t just complaining to be a nuisance. I really hope they don’t make the same mistake throughout the tour!

I didn't know what to expect. 11,000 fans at Manchester Victoria and he didn't disappoint. His voice is so unique, the songs catchy and at times emotional. It felt like I knew all the songs even though I can guess I had only listened to about 5. Not once was I disappointed. He engaged the audience as though we were all friends. The band were tight and I liked the 3 floating screens. Well worth £25 of anyone's money and will be back next time he tours
