Great adventure ride with beautiful views and fun facts about Mount Dora. Great for a date night to enjoy the scenery and have some fun .

Definitely worth the cost! Our guide was a riot and made the experience so much fun. Weather was perfect and the trip down the Dora Canal was amazing. The boat takes a bit to get used to and the wakes are pretty rough when following behind a few boats. But absolutely loved it and would do again for sure

I'm from the entertainment capital of the world so I'm sometimes hard to impress. This tour is A+. Our guide, Captain Ron, was awesome. He was funny, informative, observant, and safe. He gave us a warning about the possibility of choppy waters, gave perfect instruction and let us decide how comfortable we were. We excitedly embarked on the adventure. The open water was pretty choppy but only sketchy enough to be fun. The Dora Canal is simply beautiful. This is the stuff of movies, literally. Several movies were filmed there. We saw a ton of birds, ancient cypress trees, otter and even an alligator. At the end, Captain Ron even made some recommendations for our trip based on our interests. This tour, and our guide, score 10 out of 10.

We went on the CatBoat adventure back in August. These little boats are a blast. Just make sure the lake is calm because you do bounce around. The slow pace through the canal was amazing. Can't say enough good things about Captain Ron. What a hoot! Enjoyed all the history he shared.

This is a great place with a lot of fun. Everyone can drive these boats. Nick was exciting, informative, and funny. Had a great time. He let us go free near the end and just enjoy the open water. I would go here again. Just make sure you take off your shoes or wear sandals for your feet will get wet. Taught us how to navigate if the waters got a little choppy but Nick was always near by to help out if needed. A must see thing to do and worth the price.

AMAZING! I highly highly recommend this tour! Ron was our guide and he was just so genuine and knowledgeable about the area. Before the tour we were facing up to 22mph winds on the water and they warned us that we might get wet, but we went anyways and we're SO glad! We saw a wild gator, a huge otter, some bald eagles, and much more! The boats are fast and fun and our guide was amazing!! You would be missing out if you skipped this attraction!

The boats are a blast to drive. Takes a few minutes to get the feel of them, and then watch out! Waterworld here I come. The canal is cool. Captain Tony is entertaining, albeit corny, but I'm corny too, so.... If you want an adventure, book this trip.

These are little pontoon boats that have a huge motor to move you around on the lakes. We signed up for a Friday tour but got rained out but they let us rescheduled for Sunday. We were the only one to go out that day! So much fun. So worth to time and money. Going through the Dora canal was an experience. Capt Brian was great and had lots of history. Highly recommend for something to do when in Mt Dora

We just had an incredible evening with Captain Ron! We went on the beautiful sunset tour for our second year anniversary and Captain Ron helped making it even more special! It was amazing! We absolutely had an amazing adventure. From the moment we arrived at the dock, we began receiving great customer service. The staff was funny and knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything patiently. Being a boater, I never would have expected to have such a good time on these little boys but they were amazingly fun! Zooming across the water and going through a nature area, we were able to capture a lot of wild life and beautiful birds and scenery. It was simply an amazing day. I will definitely be back! Mount Dora is a charming small town in the hill and lake country about thirty miles northwest of Orlando. 

It is noted for its many art and craft festivals, unique shops, restaurants, historic buildings, and antiques.  

Many visitors say Mount Dora reminds them of a typical small New England town – something rare in Florida. 

It is located on the western shore of six mile long Lake Dora, one of the beautiful bodies of fresh water in the Harris Chain of Lakes. 

These lakes are famous in Florida for their natural beauty, historic settings, and world class fishing. 

Catboat Adventures is a unique way to experience these waters up close and informational. 

The boats are headquartered in the small historic marina adjacent to Gilbert Park in downtown Mount Dora. 

The adventure involves a two-hour narrated lake tour on a small twin hulled power catamaran.  

You and a partner sit in comfort in your small outboard powered catamaran. 

The controls are simple and easy to operate.  An experienced guide will show you how to steer the boat and control the speed. 

Even someone with no boat experience can handle it.

The guide leads the way and communicates with each passenger via a small walkie talkie radio. 

Each passenger has a radio and can listen as the guide points out wildlife and features along the way. 

You will be in the middle of a lot of history and natural places. 

The highlight of the tour is a slow and informative passage through the Dora Canal that connects Lake Dora to Lake Eustis. 

This canal is a bit more than one mile long and is a reminder of the tropical wilderness that Florida once was. 

You will glide quietly among ancient cypress trees draped in Spanish Moss, swampy shores, and an eclectic mix of small cottages and trailers that are home to nature loving Floridians and seasonal visitors. 

You will probably see great blue herons, green herons, osprey, cranes, turtles, and maybe even an alligator or a snake.

The canal reminded movie makers of the jungles of Africa, and they filmed portions of the movie “African Queen” in this location. 

The classic movie starred Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn.

Don’t worry about your safety on this jungle cruise.   You will be high and dry in your little boat as you cruise through the wilderness.

After exiting the canal into Lake Eustis, you will make a slow circle and go back through the canal in the opposite direction.  You will see things you didn’t notice the first time.

A fun part of this two hour adventure is when the guide lets you go off on your own and hurtle down six mile long Lake Dora at high speeds. 

The outboard motor quickly brings the little catamaran up on a plane and you feel like you are flying above the water.

At the end of the tour the guide takes his boat into the marina first and then calls in the individual boats in the little fleet one by one and helps to dock the craft. 

That’s the end of the tour. 

The marina has rest rooms if you are so inclined after your two-hour journey.

You will leave the marina wanting to do the tour again.  Unlike many Florida attractions, you will feel like your money was well spent.

You can also rent one of the boats without going on the tour.  You can customize your own time by calling and making reservations.

Catboat Adventures operates daily.  In addition to the standard two hour tour, other tours are also available.  As of April 24, 2024 the two hour tour costs $160 per couple.

Mount Dora is famous for it's sunsets and their is no better vantage point than Lake Dora itself. The Lake Beauclair, Lake Carlton & Sunset Guided Tour leaves the docks 1-1/2 hours before sunset. Join us on this 1-1/2 hour adventure into Lake Beauclair, Lake Carlton and along the Lake Dora shoreline to view a stunning sunset. Sunset viewing is always weather dependent. This tour price has a built-in $10.00 savings with unassisted online booking. With unassisted online booking the cost of the tour is $160.00 per boat ($80.00 per person) plus tax and includes up to two people and a 90 minuted guided tour.(Gratuities not included). The cost of the tour if booking by phone through our reservation agent is $170.00 plus tax per boat. Boat operators must be 18 years of age and possess a valid Florida Boating Safety Education Identification Card if born on or after January 1st, 1988. Boating cards or licenses from other states may be reciprocal.

Instruction will be given before the tour leaves the dock., customers may bring the following items:.

The tour is paid in full at the time of the reservation. All sales are FINAL! In the event of a canceled tour due to weather you will be rescheduled or provided with a gift certificate to use at anytime in the future. Boats may only be driven by the designated driver(s) on the contract. In order to operate a motorboat of ten (10) horsepower or greater, Florida law requires anyone who was born on or after Jan. 1, 1988 to successfully complete an approved boating safety course and obtain a Boating Safety Education Identification Card issued by the FWC. Florida does not have a "boating license." If you were born prior to January 1, 1988 you may operate a boat in Florida without a Boating Safety Education I.D. Card but we highly recommend you complete the course and obtain your I.D. Card. NO alcohol allowed on the tour No littering No swimming or jumping off of CatBoats. HAVE FUN!!
