Busted Number 1 album Greatest Hits 2.0

Busted are go! Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne celebrate their first-ever Official Number 1 album this week with Greatest Hits 2.0 ; over 20 years after their debut.

The British rock trio, who are currently playing their catalogue to sold-out arenas across the UK and Ireland on their 20th Anniversary & Greatest Hits Tour , storm straight to the summit with their collection, following a closely fought battle against fellow pop-rock purveyor Olivia Rodrigo.

The independently-released Greatest Hits 2.0, available as a special Guest Features Edition including collaborations with the likes of Jonas Brothers , James Arthur and McFly , earns Busted a career-best, the band having previously enjoyed success with 2002’s Busted (2), 2003 LP A Present for Everyone (2), 2004’s Live: A Ticket for Everyone (11), 2016 reunion record Night Driver (13) and 2019 release Half Way There (2).

It’s a fifth Top 40 album for Thirty Seconds to Mars this week, as It’s the End of the World But It’s a Beautiful Day makes its debut (20). The group – comprising Jared and Shannon Leto – previously saw success with 2007’s A Beautiful Lie (38), 2009’s This is War (15), 2013 release LOVE LUST FAITH + DREAMS (5) and 2018 LP America (4).

The frontman made it to the final round of the hit UK show, where he ultimately was crowned the winner of the fourth season. Following his win, singer-songwriter James Arthur took to Twitter to respond to fans who believed it was him behind the disguise .

“Fuck me I can’t wait till everybody stops blowing my phone up every Saturday thinking I’m on telly singing dressed as a rhino,” he wrote. “@CharlieSimpson id know that voice anywhere… One of the best out there #maskedsinger now everyone piss off and leave me alone.”

He later tweeted again, adding: “Honoured to be compared to @CharlieSimpson by the way. It’s about time he got the recognition he deserves.”

Busted Announce 20th Anniversary and Greatest Hits Tour

Impossible though it may seem, it’s been twenty years since Busted bounced into the charts with the irrepressible pop-punk energy of their debut single ‘What I Go To School For’. It kickstarted a succession of hits for the trio, including the #1 smashes ‘Crashed The Wedding’, ‘Who’s David’, ‘Thunderbirds Are Go’, ‘You Said No’ and the Top 3 singles ‘Year 3000’, ‘Air Hostess’ and ‘Sleeping With The Light On’.

Now Busted celebrate their 20th anniversary by announcing details of a major UK arena tour starting on the 2nd September in Plymouth, alongside a series of new versions of fifteen of their classic hits to be released in the build-up, with some very special guests.

Supporting Busted will be the iconic Hanson for all the shows from Birmingham onwards. The pop trio brothers are behind hits including the number 1 smash ‘MMMBop’, ‘Where’s The Love’, ‘I Will Come To You’ and ‘Penny & Me’. The line-up will also feature New Hope Club, who scored a Top 5 hit with their self-titled debut album and have since exceeded 2 billion streams.

Fans who sign up to Busted’s mailing list will receive access to a pre-sale for tour tickets which opens at 9am on Wednesday, March 29th. Remaining tickets will then go on general sale from 9am on Friday, March 31st. The dates are:

Busted have now ticked off their highly anticipated Greatest Hits tour and the setlist has been causing quite a stir amongst fans, ahead of the band's two shows in Newcastle next week.

There was great excitement earlier this year when, hot on the heels of Charlie Simpson's victory as Rhino on The Masked Singer , he, Matt Willis and James Bourne, announced that they'd be hitting the road to mark 20 years since the release of their self titled debut album and first number 1 single, You Said No.

And the news got better for fans when the trio revealed that their support act would be none other than 90s icons Hanson, the band famous for shooting to number 1 across the world with Mmm Bop.
