If you haven't seen Turnstile live, I insist that you buy a ticket the next time they are in your vicinity. You will walk out of the venue with your heart pounding and perhaps whisper to yourself, "Now THAT was a motherfucking rock and roll show."

This show was amazing. I’ve never seen any of the bands live before. I’ve also never been To Baltimore Soundstage even though I’ve been in Baltimore my whole life. I’d love to see everyone play again. Thanks for a sick night.

Turnstile Are the Only Rock Act on 2023 Rolling Loud Miami Festival Lineup

The Miami installment of this year's Rolling Loud festival features headliners Playboi Carti , Travis Scott and A$AP Rocky , with hardcore breakouts Turnstile serving as the only rock act on the entire lineup.

Established in 2015, Rolling Loud is a historically rap and hip-hop centric event and has become one of the world's biggest events to highlight these styles of music. This year, the fest will be held in Thailand (April 13-15), Rotterdam (June 30 - July 1), Portugal (July 5-7), Germany (July 7-9), Inglewood, California (already took place on March 3-5) and Miami, Florida, the latter of which being where the event first took place eight years ago.

While Turnstile are obviously not a rap or hip-hop act, getting booked at Rolling Loud is actually not all that surprising. The group has historically toured with artists far outside the traditional heavy music spectrum, offering up eclectic bills rather than stacking like-minded groups together for a few hours each night.

As far as their mainstream success goes, their song "Holiday" has been featured in a Taco Bell commercial for Nacho Fries and they delivered late night TV performances on  Late Night With Seth Meyers (Dec. 15, 2021) and  Jimmy Kimmel Live! (March 2, 2022). And despite not earning a Grammy award this year , being nominated in three categories is an impressive achievement in itself.

It's only a good thing for heavy music when a band such as Turnstile, who last released Glow On in 2021, can represent on a festival bill such as the one for this year's Rolling Loud event taking place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami from July 21-23.

Turnstile are set to hit the stage on Sunday (July 23) and their name prominently appears in the middle of the second line from the top of the bill, a seriously high placement considering their musical style doesn't match the fest's usual intentions.

Turnstile Announce Fall North American Headlining Tour

Turnstile  are the biggest band in hardcore and simply one of the fastest-rising bands in all of rock music, and a lot of that has to do with their boldness to tour with bands from outside of the heavy music scene. This spring, their headlining tour featured support from indie bands (Citizen, Truth Cult) and hardcore bands alike (Ceremony, Ekulu), and this coming fall they're hitting North America again and bringing along two fellow Baltimore acts who hardcore fans may not expect — experimental rapper JPEGMAFIA and indie-rock singer-songwriter Snail Mail.

The Turnstile Love Connection Tour trek kicks off October 3rd in Brooklyn and will make its way throughout the whole country — including a stop in Toronto — before wrapping up in Boston on November 19th. In addition to JPEGMAFIA and Snail Mail, the band promise "special guests" on certain tour dates, and it's anybody's guess who those artists will end up being. Surely, for a band with taste as great as Turnstile's, every show is going to be amazing. 

General tickets go on sale Thursday June 23rd at 10 a.m. local time and will be available here . Check out the dates below.

Rolling Loud Miami is expanding into other genres for its 2023 edition. Turnstile become the hip-hop festival’s first rock act on the bill. This year’s eclectic lineup also includes non-hip-hop-focused acts including Pinkpantheress, Foushée, and Bryson Tiller. Spanish-language rapper Yovngchimi will also perform.

Travis Scott , A$AP Rocky , and Playboi Carti are set to headline the event, which takes place at Hard Rock Stadium July 21 through 23.

Tickets for the festival go on sale April 14 via Rolling Loud Miami’s website , with 3-day general and general+ admission, VIP and VIP+ ticket options, and shuttle and hotel booking offerings.

While the Rolling Loud franchise recently rolled out its California fest in March at Hollywood Park, its plans for Rolling Loud New York were canceled that same month after being held in 2019, 2021, and 2022. Rolling Loud Thailand will debut April 13-15 with Travis Scott, Cardi B, and Chris Brown headlining. Over the summer, the franchise heads to Europe for the second annual Rolling Loud Portugal, the first-ever Rolling Loud Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and the inaugural Rolling Loud Germany in Munich.

Turnstiles: The Ultimate Tribute to the Music of Billy Joel

If you consider the definition of “Tribute” as being an acknowledgment of respect and admiration, you can understand what has driven Turnstiles’ band leader Tony Monaco to form “Turnstiles”. As a young man, Tony became an inspired, lifelong fan of the Piano Man and he used that inspiration to grow as a pianist, vocalist, and songwriter. As a result, Billy’s style has been forever imprinted on his musical soul, much like that of Ray Charles and many others have been imprinted on that of Billy Joel.

After years of performing with various original projects and cover bands, Tony decided to form “Stormfront”, his first Billy Joel tribute back in 1993. While Stormfront played to critical acclaim in the New York Area, their career was cut short when Tony decided to relocate to South Florida. Now, some 15 years later, Tony decided to enlist some of the finest musicians in South Florida to join with him to once again pay tribute to the man he has so much respect and admiration for, Billy Joel. Never intending to be an impersonator, his focus instead is simply on the music and delivering a faithful and completely live Billy Joel experience to share with others. Turnstiles’ renditions of Billy’s classic songs are certain to move the casual listener as well as the hard core “Joel fan” to their feet and have them singing along with all the classics! Now, at 11 years into their amazing journey, Turnstiles has performed for 100’s of thousands of fellow Billy Joel fans, leaving them overjoyed and screaming for more! …and the best is yet to come as Turnstiles continues to spread the joy that only the timeless, classic music of Billy Joel can bring!

TURNSTILES is…..

Tony Monaco Piano, Lead Vocal

Tony was born into a musical family and began his musical journey at the age of 8. While he was fascinated with the piano, the guitar was a more realistic financial option. As a result, Tony studied guitar with his Father, Pat Monaco, and played it as his main instrument until the age of 13, winning both regional and national guitar competitions.

Over the years, his love for keyboards was rekindled when he fell in love with the Hammond organ which eventually led him back to his first love, the piano. He studied piano with many private teachers but credits Dave Frank (world renowned jazz pianist) for really focusing his efforts. As a result, many of his influences were jazz artists. However, when a close friend suggested he listen to more artists like Billy Joel, he reluctantly did so and to his surprise, he became enamored with the genius of Billy Joel. Billy’s piano style was one that Tony not only found inspiring, but also easier to relate what he learned from emulating Billy’s licks and listening to his lyrics to his efforts as an aspiring singer-songwriter with his own band, Thrills (As a member of Thrills, Tony did extensive recording and touring, opening for bands such as Foreigner, Quarterflash, Nick Lowe, Juice Newton, and Orleans). In the years following, Tony played with many of Long Island’s top bands and then in 1993, he formed what he believes was one of the first tributes to the piano man, “Stormfront”, which earned him an audition for the traveling production of the Broadway show, “Movin’ Out”.

Now residing in South Florida, Tony has decided to once again pay tribute to the music and man that has been such an influence in his musical life. In addition, with the formation of “Turnstiles”, he has been reunited with his life long friend and former band mate from Thrills, Dave Fullerton. Dave along with both new and old friends has now joined forces with Tony to bring this band to life for all Billy Joel fans to enjoy!

Ron Fattorusso Sax, Flute, Vocals

Ron studied music at the University of Miami playing in jazz and concert bands as well as classical ensembles & groups. He started his professional career in 1974 as a multi-instrumentalist (Alto, Tenor and Soprano saxes, flute and clarinet). Since then, he has played for and performed with such stars as “The Temptations” Bing Crosby, Steve Lawrence, Edie Gorme, Hal Linden, Joan Rivers, Mitzi Gaynor, Julio Iglesias, and many more. By the 1980’s he backed up Desi Arnaz, and jazz giants Ira Sullivan, Joe Diorio and Eddie Daniels. From 1981-84 Ron went on a ‘sold out’ concert tour’s all around the World with “El Puma”.

In 1980, Ron opened a recording studio in South Florida (Star Track Recording). Having recorded countless talented musicians over a 20 year span, he has been able to use his experience and knowledge and apply it to his first solo jazz cd, “Up All Night”. Ron also had 12 songs on NBC’s Weather Channel as well as international radio airplay. While his last CD “Spirit” was officially released in March 2013, the record label pre-released two of his tracks in 2011 to NBC’s Weather Channel for airing, “You’re Always Around’ and the title track “Spirit” aired for several months and still being played on radio stations across the world…

While still playing with several bands and recording new music, he has now found his home with the Turnstiles family, loving every minute of playing with his Brothers on stages across the US!

Dave Fullerton Guitars, Vocals

Dave was born and raised in Pittsburgh Pa. and began playing Guitar at the age of 8. Shortly thereafter, he began playing in neighborhood and local bands and eventually met up with Tony Monaco. At the age of 13, they joined forces playing in various local bands together which eventually spawned into their recording and touring band, “Thrills”. Thrills relocated to New York where they toured and played nonstop for over 10 years and recorded 5 albums on the G&P label which are now available on CD (through Rewind Records).

Following the breakup of Thrills, Dave and Tony continued to work together until they both relocated to South Florida in 1995. After their relocation, they did not work together for some 15 years. Needless to say, Dave was extremely excited when Tony asked him to be part of the Turnstiles project. Now, Dave and Tony are once again united and continuing a life- long musical journey, and the best is yet to come!

Mark Jacobs Bass, Vocals

Mark hails from Boston area and shortly after relocating to Florida, he quickly became a fixture in the South Florida music scene. Bitten by the music bug in his youth, (after watching his cousin’s band perform and much to his parent’s dismay) he soon picked up the drums himself! He switched to bass in high school and that’s been his main instrument ever since.

Mark has worked with a wide range of national touring bands and now, he brings his extensive experience to Turnstiles. He’s also a sound engineer with several major label credits to his name. When not performing with Turnstiles, Mark can also be seen around South Florida with various bands as a highly recommended sub.

“I was humbled and honored that Tony asked me to be a part of Turnstiles and jumped at the chance to be involved with such great musicians and even better people. I am excited about the future!”

Jeff McDonald Drums, Vocals

Since the age of 2, Jeff McDonald has had a passion for the drums, and or anything he could hit that would make sound. By the time he left high school, Jeff had studied with renowned teacher Joe Pulice, and had played with several drum and bugle corps, and marching bands including the Kilties, and Lighthouse Brigade.

Teaching for Horst’s music in Racine, WI. Jeff met Rex Merriweather, and soon became the drummer for R.E.X., an all-original horn band influenced by Chase, Tower of Power, and Chicago. This gave him the opportunity to open for artist such as Robert Cray, Chubby Checker, and several other artists. Soon after playing with Merriweather, Jeff got involved in the glam rock screen playing with Lyden Moon, and opening shows for Enuff-Znuff.

Shortly after moving to Florida in 1994, Jeff met members of the Truth, an industrial metal band influenced by Dream Theatre, Journey, and Deep Purple. Releasing “Believe” later that year, the Truth attracted the attention of Kansas band leader Steve Walsh, which led to an opening slot for the band. It was during this time that Jeff met Tony Monaco. They became instant friends, and have performed together in several bands over the past decade and a half. “It’s not very often that someone comes along in your life that influences you musically like Tony has for me. His drive and attention to every detail is what make playing music with him so rewarding.” Currently playing with Tony in Shakedown as well as having a genuine desire to be part of this project made Jeff the obvious choice for the slot in Turnstiles…….and the rest WILL be history!

Greg Reitano Keyboards, Guitar, Vocals

Soon after graduating Berklee College of Music in Boston , Greg earned himself a place as a mainstay in the South Florida Club scene and as a sought after session player in Central and South Florida. Besides anchoring local bands such as “Foolproof” and “Back in Time”, Greg has performed with rock legends such as Tommy Roe, The Shirelles, and The Chiffons. He has also performed in the pit orchestras for the stage productions of “Grease”, “They’re Playing Our Song”, “Over There”, and “The Boyfriend”. Recently, Greg has had the pleasure of opening for country stars such as Jake Owen and Craig Morgan. In addition, Greg has also completed an album of his own original material.

Now as the Keyboardist for Turnstiles, Greg provides the perfect compliment to Tony’s piano, providing the keyboard orchestrations and effects. He also provides acoustic guitar and backing vocals, adding just the right touch of ornaments to their sound. Helping to keep Tony’s hands on the piano, Greg is an integral part of keeping Turnstiles faithful to Mr. Joel’s original recordings. As Tony says “Greg is our “musical swiss army knife! Mr. Utility himself”.

Turnstile are coming your way in the fall. The melody-loving Maryland hardcore rockers dropped the sweaty video for the Glow On single “New Heart Design” on Tuesday (June 21) and also announced the dates for their upcoming fall 2022 U.S. tour .

The video directed by Brendan Yates and Ian Hurdle for the reggae-tinged rager captures the band in their live glory, raging on stage while a packed club audience dances along. Billboard named Glow On  one of the  best albums of 2021 , placing it at No. 27 on the list. The record also debuted on the  Billboard 200  chart dated Sept. 10 at  No. 30 .

Speaking about how the album’s production techniques differ from the traditional hard  rock formula, singer Brendan Yates told  Billboard  in August, “It’s allowing your gut instinct to come out in the music, whether it’s with percussion stuff, pianos or different sounds … sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But if it pops up in your mind, it’s for a reason, and we always try to capture that.”

Currently on tour in Europe playing a series of festivals including Outbreak, Glastonbury, Roskilde, Main Square, Rock Werchter, Lollapalooza Stockholm, Lollapalooza Paris and Buktafestival through late July, the band will head back to the U.S. for a run of North American festival and arena gigs in late summer and kick off the fall “Love Connection” tour on Oct. 3 with a gig at the Brooklyn Mirage; Snail Mail and JPEGMAFIA will join them on the fall outing.

Turnstiles' energetic renditions of Billy Joel's songs bring generations together, entertaining casual listeners and hard core fans alike.

ABOUT THE BAND: If you consider the definition of "Tribute" as being an acknowledgment of respect and admiration, you can understand what has driven Turnstiles' band leader Tony Monaco to form "Turnstiles". As a young man, Tony became an inspired, lifelong fan of the Piano Man and he used that inspiration to grow as a pianist, vocalist, and songwriter.

Cut to [a few] years later, Tony decided to enlist some of the finest musicians in South Florida to join with him to once again pay tribute. Tony’s project became the now highly-acclaimed tribute band “Turnstiles”, performing energetic renditions of Billy's classic songs that are certain to move the casual listener as well as the hard core "Joel fan" to their feet and have them singing along with all the classics! https://thebillyjoeltribute.com/

Turnstile’s mission  is to advance public knowledge about the meaning of place, foster connections and understanding between people of diverse backgrounds, and inspire and reflect a culture of community participation through providing welcoming, well-researched, inclusive, and engaging experiences and resources to people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities. The company itself achieves its mission through  Turnstile Tours , the foundation of the company that operates ongoing public tour programming and research efforts in partnership with select nonprofit organizations, and  Turnstile Studio , a consulting practice that supports cultural and government organizations in place-making efforts, visitor engagement, and in the development of tours, programs, and exhibits.

As a New York State-registered  benefit corporation , we are legally required to annually review our social and environmental impact measured against our mission, as well as third party standards, and  post our findings on our website . In 2017 and 2018, Turnstile Tours was honored by B Lab as “ Best for the World Overall , ” for scoring in the  top 10% of Certified B Corporations in the world , as well as “Best for Community” and “Best in Governance”.

Turnstile Tours include  the  Brooklyn Navy Yard ,  Brooklyn Army Terminal ,  Prospect Park ,  Essex Market , tours of  Food Carts and Food Trucks , and custom-made tours, all of which are offered in partnership with select non-profit organizations. At least 5% of all of our ticket sales goes towards supporting the work of select nonprofit organization that help to keep neighborhoods vital and thriving. All of our staff members are engaged behind-the-scenes in ongoing research, archival and field-based, to ensure that the tours we offer are relevant, dynamic, entertaining, and thoughtful.

All Turnstile Tours staff are  licensed New York City Sightseeing Guides   and have a diverse range of experience and expertise, from historical research to museum studies, sustainable architecture to street food. All of our team members also participates in ongoing research and tour development.

Cindy VandenBosch

President & Founder

Cindy VandenBosch founded Turnstile Tours & Studio to create interactive and content-based experiences that foster engagement and interaction within and across communities in partnership with non-profit organizations in the neighborhoods of New York City. Cindy is passionate about offering experiences that are welcoming and accessible to people of all ages and abilities, and she has long been interested in socially-responsible business models, which led her to found Turnstile as a Benefit Corporation in 2012.

Andrew Gustafson

Vice President

Andrew loves sharing how the city works, especially its waterfront, industry, and infrastructure. In addition to developing and leading tours, he consults with cultural institutions on operations, interpretation, and accessibility, and he oversees knowledge management for Turnstile, maintaining the archive, library, and oral history collection. Much of Andrew’s work focuses on the past and present of New York’s waterfront, and he is an avid shipspotter, birdwatcher, and paddler. Andrew is a member of the New York Council Navy League, American Institute of Architects (Allied Member), and the US Naval Institute, and he serves on the Advisory Board of the Street Vendor Project and the Sunset Park Task Force.

Doug Chapman

Head of Sustainability Programming

Doug’s diverse talents include being a working actor and an ecological design consultant, experience he gets to blend together at Turnstile Tours. He loves exploring the history and ecology of Prospect Park, he led development of both the Urban Ecology and Sustainable Architecture and Industry tours at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, and he helps Turnstile to incorporate sustainability- and environmentally-focused content into all of our programs and operations.

Brian Hoffman

Food Tour Educator

Brian Hoffman is a food blogger, actor, waiter, and lover of New York. Originally from South Florida, but born to a family of New York expats, he always dreamed of being a starving artist in the big city. After studying theater at Carnegie Mellon University and moving to New York City in 2001, he realized the starving part wouldn’t cut it. So in order to never go hungry again, he founded Eat This NY, a food blog where he searches for the best of New York’s most iconic foods, and a web series of the same name that documents those searches alongside a comedic storyline.

Amanda Adler Brennan

Food Tours Manager and Special Projects Associate

A native New Yorker, Amanda is delighted to bring her passion for storytelling, and for the city’s history and culture to visitors through Turnstile’s tours and programs. She especially enjoys working with the street vending community, exploring the sights and flavors of neighborhoods such as Midtown and Jackson Heights. Most recently, Amanda has joined the team in hosting school programs in partnership with the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Amanda has a background in museum education and visitor services, having worked previously for the Museum of Modern Art, Tenement Museum, HistoryMiami, and as the host of How to Be American, the Tenement Museum’s podcast that explores multiculturalism and American identity through the stories immigrants, migrants and refugees.

Carinn Candelaria

Education Programs Manager and Tour Guide

Carinn, a Californian, has interpreted history from coast to coast. Since earning her B.A. at Vassar College, Carinn has immersed herself in NYC through her work with iconic institutions including the American Museum of Natural History, Brooklyn Bridge Park, and Radio City Music Hall. At Turnstile Tours, she has developed curricula for and led summer camp partnership programs in Prospect Park and leads public tours of Prospect Park and the Brooklyn Navy Yard. She is thrilled to share her teeming curiosity for New York with visitors and locals alike.

Miriam Bader

Learning Designer

Miriam Bader is a learning designer with expertise in creating dynamic programs, systems, and training that facilitate personal, professional, and organizational development. She has supported diverse NGOs and cultural organizations to develop their leadership capacity. Her experience spans work at JDC, the leading Jewish humanitarian organization, to the National Park Service, Tenement Museum, Singapore Tourism Board, Brooklyn Children’s Museum, and Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, among others. Miriam also sits on the Board of the Jewish Foundation of the Education of Women (JFEW) where she merges her commitment to equity and education to help women of all backgrounds achieve economic mobility through a college support system. She received her Master’s degree in Museum Education at Bank Street College, a Certificate in Leadership & Public Service at NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service and from the Institute in Jewish Art at the Jewish Theological Seminary.

Nick Golebiewski

Nick, originally from Buffalo, has lived in New York City longer than anywhere else in the world, moving there after getting an art degree in his hometown. He is an artist, avid bicyclist (even in the snow), fan of hiking in the Adirondacks, and a tour guide – covering all the bases of New York State. He’s inspired by the people and places in NYC that make it quintessentially unique, which he explores in his watercolor paintings of neighborhoods such as Chinatown, and the East Village, and in his drawing-a-day project which hasn’t missed a day in over a decade! Nick’s art studio is in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, which gives him some keen insights for his tours there. After making a series of paintings of street vendors’ food carts and trucks in NYC, he made the leap to join the team at Turnstile Tours to lead Food Cart Tours.

In addition to developing and offering tours ,  Turnstile Studio   offers technical assistance and consulting services to clients that include cultural and government organizations in their efforts to more effectively engage the public through place-making and/or site specific projects, exhibitions, tours, and programs. Our core competencies include storytelling techniques, research and content production, visitor engagement and visitor services, accessibility for visitors with disabilities, cartography and graphic design, and tour and program development and evaluation.
