Our to Africa with Kensington was AMAZING!

Our second trip using Kensington was to Africa. Africa is a trip of a lifetime but Kensington made it even more so! I tell my friends...a trip with Kensington means fun and relaxation...there is litterally nothing to track or worry about because Kensington is the master of coordination and communication! Alistair, our Kensington Destination Expert was amazing to work with and he even threw in a couple of well placed surprises! We will definitely use Kensington again!

South African family adventure

Kensington / Claudia put together an amazing itinerary for our S Africa tour. Every detail was thought through and organized...from the airport greeter to the transporters, to the tour guides, the food, and especially the lodging. Will definitely use them again to plan our next adventure.

Everything was coordinated

Everything was coordinated, from flights, hotels, transportation, and the agenda. The accommodations were top notch, the drivers were perfectly on time, and the guides were a wealth of knowledge and able to adjust to unforseen events (wedding at a church during our tour), I had no issues other than the luggage tags didn't make it to me before I left. (I left four days early to stay near the international airport.)

Best Way to Go to Greece is with Kensington Tours!

To whom do you turn to plan a trip to Greece for 10 girlfriends who are all Alpha A+, some with serious control issues? Kensington Tours is the right answer!! From the minute we were met in Athens to the minute we said good bye to our smiling Kensington guide in Santorini (at 4am), everything was perfect. Moving 10 people from Athens to Mykonos to Santorini without a hiccup is no small task! The accommodations were luxurious, the guides were beyond good and the excursions were outstanding in every way. Their Destination Expert listened and provided exactly what we wanted!

Trip of a lifetime

Kensington helped us plan our family trip to South Africa/Zimbabwe (Cape Town, Victoria Falls, Safari). We had never heard of Kensington Tours before so we were a bit apprehensive but from start to finish we were very well taken care of and felt extremely pampered every step of the way. Having our own private guides in every location enhanced our experience even more. Did not experience any hiccups whatsoever as far as the itinerary goes. We were very pleased with the hotels (our least favorite was our Cape Town hotel). The Safari portion of our trip was definitely the highlight. Thornybush Lodge was incredible! Destination Expert Aptly Named

From the first interaction with our Destination Expert Moe Sami, I knew we were in good hands. My father (75) and I (45) wanted to explore the wonders of Egypt and Jordan, and Moe and his team made it a trip we will cherish for a lifetime. Flights, hotels, transportation, guides - all were perfectly planned to suit our pace and tastes. And when we needed to reschedule to reflect regional tensions that had flared up - Moe and Rommel handled all of those changes for us, stress-free. 100% would recommend Kensington and their Destination Expert Moe, and would use Kensington again for future travel.

Trip to Florence and Venice…

We traveled to Florence and Venice Italy on a trip through Kensington. Our travel expert, Mackenzie Brown, was outstanding. He listened extremely well, created the experience we wanted. From the local guides, to the hotels, to the details of transportation and recommendations/reservations for restaurants we requested, he did it all pleasantly and professionally! This was my second trip with Kensington and again they really excelled in the details. The local guides they arrange are the top of the line. One of my family members on the trip is an art historian. Our guide in Florence, Ricardo, was an art/sculpture expert just exactly what made this trip so fabulous! He was also from Florence and gave us many insider/local details and recommendations. All the guides in Florence and Venice were well prepared for our specific itinerary and had reviewed our interests before meeting with us, but they were also flexible to our requested changes. Kensington has relationships with really great boutique hotels. Working with Kensington, and particularly Mackenzie, removed all the anxiety and uncertainty of travel arrangements and made sure the trip was exactly what we wanted so we could sit back and enjoy it!

Malta Tour planned with Nicolo

10-Days in Morocco

We enjoyed a great 10-day holiday in Morocco with Kensington. Importantly, the logistics all worked perfectly, and we were very pleased with our driver and guide. Having the same team throughout the entire experience was a real plus. And we experienced the entire country ... the greenness of Rabat, the Roman ruins; Fez; the desert; hiking the Atlas Mountains; and the colors and smells of Marrakech. And our hotel accommodations were AMAZING with beautiful riads. We would definitely use Kensington again.

It doesn’t get better than Kensington!

I am a travel agent (travelatyourleisuretours.com) and worked with Samuel at Kensington to plan a solo trip for my 81-year-old mother-in-law to Scotland. It would be an understatement to say that this was probably one of the most important trips I would ever book. I knew I had to make sure that I had the best tour company, the best guide, and work with someone who made me feel that my mother-in-law would be safe and looked after. I worked with two other companies, along with Kensington, to plan the perfect itinerary. In the end, Kensington was hands down the only company I wanted to work with. Samuel was very experienced and patient with me as I navigated the importance of this trip for my mother-in-law (and for my peace of mind)! From the moment she stepped off the plane in Scotland, she was well taken care of. She did not have any issues and although she does not like to use the word perfect, she said it was pretty near perfect! She absolutely adored her guide, they hit it off wonderfully and he was so informative. Not only did he drive her around the country, but explained the different areas, dialect, history and also offered her recommendations for restaurants. She said it was a trip of a lifetime and things could not have gone any better. Everything that she wanted to see she did, and more. I was lucky enough to check Machu Pichu off my bucket list!

I was lucky enough to check Machu Pichu off the bucket list due to Kensington Tours! This destination, due to its location, had many moving parts and I would have wanted to do it all on my own. We had a lovely guide greet us and take us to each airport, train station, and shuttle bus we needed to take! Having all of our tickets purchased and printed out for us made it a breeze and truly felt like a vacation. Michele Stopher (who booked us) kept in contact with us prior, during and after our trip to make sure everything was as it should be. (She had even arranged a wonderful birthday surprise for our friend in our group. It was a WOW!) All of the hotels (5 in one week!) were convenient, friendly staff, beautiful and well appointed. With all that being said, it was the amazing guides that we were paired with that made the entire week UNFORGETTABLE! Gonzalo Lima was our tour guide when we landed in Cusco and his BEAMING heart & personality shined through from the moment we met him. He had such pride, knowledge & sincerity in the history & culture he was sharing with us. One member in our group isn’t as mobile as the other 3 and he was always checking in on him to make sure he was alright or if he needed to rest. He was ALWAYS happy to answer questions and share stories to help us keep immersed wherever we were and when we split to head to the highlands for a couple of days, he even checked on us and we shared our experiences/sent photos back. We were even lucky enough to be part of an Andean ceremony that he led, surrounded by Mother Nature & of course alpacas. A memory engrained forever. Our other guides Nino, Renee, Evan, & Patty were all fantastic! Even even climbed up 2600 stairs up & down the Montana trail at Machu Pichu with us! (And barely breathed heavy by the way hahah) I don’t want to forget our driver Henry as he got us through some crazy spots and always took good care of us! We gained so much knowledge and inspiration to learn even more about the Peruvian culture from all of the people we came in contact with over our 8 day trip and am so Thankful I booked it with Kensington.

Exploring Northern Ireland

Juri was our guide and driver for our 6 day trip on our Northern Ireland: Castles, Coastline and Culture Tour with Kensington Tours. We explored Belfast, Donegal and Galway and it’s coastlines. Juri did a great job tailoring the trip to suit our interests. He worked with us each day to make sure we were seeing the things that interested us. It was very obvious that he was doing his research every night to make sure we had all our questions answered. He would go out of his way to check with colleagues, that have worked the areas we were traveling, to make sure he had the latest information to share with us. Kensington Tours delivered the trip of a lifetime!

We planned a trip to Germany and Austria through Kensington Tours. Our travel consultant Mark Schneider was fantastic in arranging all of the details and places we wanted to visit. He even suggested other tours that were super interesting, from walking tours of the cities we were in, to special experiences like the BMW museum and performance of the philharmonic orchestra. This was a special trip for my husband to reminisce about his time in the service in Bad Reichenhall, Germany and to celebrate his birthday. We also wanted to spend time in Munich and Salzburg, Austria. Every detail was perfectly planned and executed. Our drivers, guides, and driver guides were excellent, on time and so very helpful and flexible. Mark arranged for our hotel to provide a birthday breakfast celebration and and a dinner celebration for my husband.. This was the trip of a lifetime allowing much remembering, as well as lots of new experiences and learning. Every detail was taken into account and even when one of our tours was cancelled due to snow in the mountains, our driver guide pivoted to ensure that other wonderful experiences were provided. Our travel consultant provided many touches along the way, with Sound of Music gifts after our Sound of Music tour and other welcoming items at our hotels. He even arranged for dinner reservations in Salzburg at a restaurant that we stumbled upon and wanted to try. It was a wonderful experience, all made possible by Kensington Tours.

This was our first time using Kensington, and we were very happy with our experience. Dario helped us plan an amazing trip to Croatia. He was very responsive with planning and catering to any change or request we made. On our travels I reached out to him twice and he responded right away to address some changes we had. Greece--Athens, Mykonos and Santorini

This was my first booking with Kensington Tours to Greece. Arjun Malhotra was my vendor partner and was excellent to work with from beginning to end. As a travel agent, my group consisted of 16. Our itinerary was Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. Arjun assisted upfront with all my questions and concerns. The trip included several excursions, ferry transports, all breakfasts at each hotel and transportation as well as guides for the excursions. The added plus were gifts purchased for me to give to my clients during our first stop in Athens with a letter from me to each client! It was very nice gesture and gave me even more satisfaction points with my clients. I have been traveling in Europe for 50 years. Using Kensington Tours was the biggest travel mistake I ever made. Bon a word, they are horrible. I would give them zero stars if I could. Their service and communication is non-existent. You will regret it if you book your trip with them.

I recently came across Kensington Tours, a company that specializes in creating customized, private-guided trips. I was impressed by their website, and decided to take a trip through them.

Kensington Tours offers a wide range of trips, including group and small group tours. They cater to various interests and preferences which makes them an attractive option for diverse groups of travelers. In particular, I was impressed to find out that first-time customers were pleased with their experiences, praising the logistics, planning, and knowledgeable local guides provided by Kensington Tours.

In this article, I will be telling you my opinion of this tour-booking company, based on my experiences of travelling with them.

Overview of Kensington Tours

Kensington Tours can be worth your money if you select the correct packages. However, some people have faced problems, so be careful when booking.

This company also provides experienced guides who will take you through all the sightseeing places and accompany you on tour. They are mainly used for traveling to foreign countries where people need to learn more about the local scene. The guides will know the local language and can interact with the locals on your behalf.

You won’t have to worry about anything other than your flights to reach your destination.

Services Offered

During my research about Kensington Tours, I discovered that they provide customized itineraries and personalized travel experiences. A wonderful woman by the name of Amanda Jex was my destination lead, and she was very accommodating to the last-minute changes we made to the itineraries.

Kensington Tours made our multi-country trips stress-free with efficient logistical services, such as on-time drivers, clear signage, and convenient train tickets.

Kensington Tours delivered a great bespoke European vacation for my visit to Italy and Switzerland. The company listened carefully to my family’s desires and tailored the itinerary accordingly.

Destinations Covered

Kensington Tours offers a variety of trips to different parts of the world. Some of the popular destinations I found include:

• Ultimate Ireland (Small Groups):  This 13-day group tour costs $7,775 and covers iconic Irish attractions.
• Northern Lights Escape:  A 6-day small group tour priced at $2,340, with a focus on chasing the mesmerizing aurora borealis.
• Iceland Discovery:  This 8-day small group tour, costing $3,950, takes travelers to the stunning landscapes of Iceland.
• Everest Base Camp Trek:  An adventurous small group tour that brings participants on a trek to the base camp of Mount Everest.

Pros and Cons of Kensington Tours

Kensington Tours gives exceptional service, tailored itineraries, and knowledgeable local travel guides. The company offers a wide range of  interesting trips  catering to diverse interests and preferences, such as small group tours in Ireland, Northern Lights escapes, and Everest Base Camp treks. Their flexibility and customization options make them appealing to travelers looking for unique or personalized experiences.

In addition to the impressive variety of tours, I was also happy with the accommodations, transportation, and overall logistics provided by Kensington Tours. Their level of organization and attention to detail contributed to a smooth and stress-free travel experience.

However, there have been instances where some travelers had  less than satisfactory experiences  with Kensington Tours. It’s important to note that discrepancies in service quality or tour expectations can happen with any tour operator and do not necessarily reflect the overall offerings of the company.

My main gripe with them is that they charge a very high cancellation fee ($350 per person). This makes it difficult to book a trip with them if you are not sure about when exactly you will be departing.

Nonetheless, potential issues to be aware of include inadequate accommodations or miscommunication in terms of expectations and itineraries . To avoid disappointment, I recommend doing thorough research on the specific tour you are interested in and reading multiple reviews to gather a well-rounded understanding of what to expect.

Can You Cancel Tours On Kensington Tours?

All cancellations of confirmed reservations on Kensington Tours will face a penalty of $350 per person. You will receive a full refund only if you cancel the tour 90 days before departure.

If you cancel a booked tour 60-89 days before departure, the penalty paid will be 30% of the booking price. Any canceled trip 30-59 days before the tour will face a loss of 50% of the program price. 

Any tour cancellation about 29 days before departure won’t qualify for a refund. The cancellation fees will be 100% of the program price.

How To Get Refunds From Kensington Tours?

You need to contact customer support to get a refund from Kensington Tours. You have the option to call them or send them an email on their registered email ID. 

They levy heavy cancellation charges even if you cancel a month in advance. They won’t be responsible for the cancellation fees imposed by the airlines and other associated services.

Is It Better To Trave With A Tour Company Or On Your Own?

It is better to go with a tour company if you are traveling to a different country. However, arranging the trip yourself is better when traveling within your own country. 

When visiting foreign countries, you will face many cultural and language barriers. These issues can cause trouble in planning your perfect trip.

Additionally, you may miss out on good tourist spots in foreign countries. This will not happen on guided tours since they know them all.

However, if you are familiar with the country and its language, you can travel alone. It will be a fun experience if you have the time to research properly. 

All in all, just adopt this rule of thumb 👉 Domestic Travel – Travel on your own; International Travel – Travel with a tour company.

It doesn’t get better than Kensington!

I am a travel agent (travelatyourleisuretours.com) and worked with Samuel at Kensington to plan a solo trip for my 81-year-old mother-in-law to Scotland. It would be an understatement to say that this was probably one of the most important trips I would ever book. I knew I had to make sure that I had the best tour company, the best guide, and work with someone who made me feel that my mother-in-law would be safe and looked after. I worked with two other companies, along with Kensington, to plan the perfect itinerary. In the end, Kensington was hands down the only company I wanted to work with. Samuel was very experienced and patient with me as I navigated the importance of this trip for my mother-in-law (and for my peace of mind)! From the moment she stepped off the plane in Scotland, she was well taken care of. She did not have any issues and although she does not like to use the word perfect, she said it was pretty near perfect! She absolutely adored her guide, they hit it off wonderfully and he was so informative. Not only did he drive her around the country, but explained the different areas, dialect, history and also offered her recommendations for restaurants. She said it was a trip of a lifetime and things could not have gone any better. Everything that she wanted to see she did, and more. Thank you so much to Kensington tours and Samuel for making my mother-in-law‘s trip of a lifetime literally her trip of her lifetime!

I was lucky enough to check Machu Pichu off my bucket list!

I was lucky enough to check Machu Pichu off the bucket list due to Kensington Tours! This destination, due to its location, had many moving parts and I would have wanted to do it all on my own. We had a lovely guide greet us and take us to each airport, train station, and shuttle bus we needed to take! Having all of our tickets purchased and printed out for us made it a breeze and truly felt like a vacation. Michele Stopher (who booked us) kept in contact with us prior, during and after our trip to make sure everything was as it should be. (She had even arranged a wonderful birthday surprise for our friend in our group. It was a WOW!) All of the hotels (5 in one week!) were convenient, friendly staff, beautiful and well appointed. With all that being said, it was the amazing guides that we were paired with that made the entire week UNFORGETTABLE! Gonzalo Lima was our tour guide when we landed in Cusco and his BEAMING heart & personality shined through from the moment we met him. He had such pride, knowledge & sincerity in the history & culture he was sharing with us. One member in our group isn’t as mobile as the other 3 and he was always checking in on him to make sure he was alright or if he needed to rest. He was ALWAYS happy to answer questions and share stories to help us keep immersed wherever we were and when we split to head to the highlands for a couple of days, he even checked on us and we shared our experiences/sent photos back. We were even lucky enough to be part of an Andean ceremony that he led, surrounded by Mother Nature & of course alpacas. A memory engrained forever. Our other guides Nino, Renee, Evan, & Patty were all fantastic! Even even climbed up 2600 stairs up & down the Montana trail at Machu Pichu with us! (And barely breathed heavy by the way hahah) I don’t want to forget our driver Henry as he got us through some crazy spots and always took good care of us! We gained so much knowledge and inspiration to learn even more about the Peruvian culture from all of the people we came in contact with over our 8 day trip and am so Thankful I booked it with Kensington.

Exploring Northern Ireland

Juri was our guide and driver for our 6 day trip on our Northern Ireland: Castles, Coastline and Culture Tour with Kensington Tours. We explored Belfast, Donegal and Galway and it’s coastlines. Juri did a great job tailoring the trip to suit our interests. He worked with us each day to make sure we were seeing the things that interested us. It was very obvious that he was doing his research every night to make sure we had all our questions answered. He would go out of his way to check with colleagues, that have worked the areas we were traveling, to make sure he had the latest information to share with us. Thank you Juri and Kensington Tours for a great experience exploring Northern Ireland.

Kensington Tours delivered the trip of a lifetime!

We planned a trip to Germany and Austria through Kensington Tours. Our travel consultant Mark Schneider was fantastic in arranging all of the details and places we wanted to visit. He even suggested other tours that were super interesting, from walking tours of the cities we were in, to special experiences like the BMW museum and performance of the philharmonic orchestra. This was a special trip for my husband to reminisce about his time in the service in Bad Reichenhall, Germany and to celebrate his birthday. We also wanted to spend time in Munich and Salzburg, Austria. Every detail was perfectly planned and executed. Our drivers, guides, and driver guides were excellent, on time and so very helpful and flexible. Mark arranged for our hotel to provide a birthday breakfast celebration and and a dinner celebration for my husband.. This was the trip of a lifetime allowing much remembering, as well as lots of new experiences and learning. Every detail was taken into account and even when one of our tours was cancelled due to snow in the mountains, our driver guide pivoted to ensure that other wonderful experiences were provided. Our travel consultant provided many touches along the way, with Sound of Music gifts after our Sound of Music tour and other welcoming items at our hotels. He even arranged for dinner reservations in Salzburg at a restaurant that we stumbled upon and wanted to try. It was a wonderful experience, all made possible by Kensington Tours.

This was our first time using…

This was our first time using Kensington, and we were very happy with our experience. Dario helped us plan an amazing trip to Croatia. He was very responsive with planning and catering to any change or request we made. On our travels I reached out to him twice and he responded right away to address some changes we had. Overall the trip was outstanding everything ran like clockwork and we would definitely use Dario and Kensington again in the future.

Greece--Athens, Mykonos and Santorini

This was my first booking with Kensington Tours to Greece. Arjun Malhotra was my vendor partner and was excellent to work with from beginning to end. As a travel agent, my group consisted of 16. Our itinerary was Athens, Mykonos and Santorini. Arjun assisted upfront with all my questions and concerns. The trip included several excursions, ferry transports, all breakfasts at each hotel and transportation as well as guides for the excursions. The added plus were gifts purchased for me to give to my clients during our first stop in Athens with a letter from me to each client! It was very nice gesture and gave me even more satisfaction points with my clients. When going to Greece, you cannot go wrong using Arjun Malhotra to assist with your planning and implementation requirements! I will definitely use Arjun and Kensington again!!

I have been traveling in Europe for 50…

I have been traveling in Europe for 50 years. Using Kensington Tours was the biggest travel mistake I ever made. Bon a word, they are horrible. I would give them zero stars if I could. Their service and communication is non-existent. You will regret it if you book your trip with them.
