The UAE began issuing five-year multiple-entry visas in 2021, giving tourists more flexibility when visiting the Emirates.

Since March, families visiting the UAE can now apply for the five-year multiple-entry visa as a group.

Before then, each family member needed to apply separately, submitting the same set of documents for each person.

The visa, announced during a Cabinet session in March 2021, encourages longer and more frequent stays in the country for anyone without a residency visa, with multiple entries and stays of up to 180 days.

Now with the latest development there is an option for a family to apply as a group, as confirmed by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security's website.

“It will help relatives travel back and forth and will also attract a lot more tourists without any connection to the UAE so there will be more footfall,” said Haider Hussain, partner at Fragomen, an immigration services company.

“This will enhance travel into the UAE and make life easier for residents and their extended family members,” he said.

“People can stay for six months at one go if they want to."

The entry permit works as a self-sponsored visa as individuals can apply for it themselves and their families directly online and do not need to apply via a travel agency, hotel or relative in the UAE.

The approval process is quick as long as the required paperwork is submitted.

Here are the details and process explained.

Who is eligible for the five-year tourist visas? What are the criteria?

The five-year multi-entry tourist visa is available to citizens of all countries. To be eligible the visitor must provide the following:

  • A recent colour personal photo with a white background for the sponsored
  • Proof of having a bank balance of $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies for six months
  • A valid health insurance document approved in the UAE
  • A ticket to and from the country plus proof of place of residence (hotel / residence address)
  • Passport valid for at least six months

For each family member included the following is required:

  • Proof of a health insurance policy within the country
  • A ticket to and from the country
  • A passport valid for at least six months

“The six-month bank statement showing that the balance has never gone below $4,000 is key to even be considered,” Mr Hussain said.

“That is the main requirement that needs to be fulfilled, the other requirements are pretty standard. Applications go through scrutiny and extensive review because it is a five-year multiple-entry visa.”

How do you apply?

Applications can be made online via the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security website.

The service cannot be done at typing centres.

Applicants need to log on to the website, select smart channels and visa service then fill in the data and add the required attachments.

“Generally a week’s timeline is what we are seeing in terms of approval coming through,” Mr Hussain said.

GDRFA Dubai offers a tourist visa service that is valid for five years and allows for multiple trips, provided that the prescribed fees are paid. The visa does not require a sponsor within the country. #gdrfadubai #gdrfadubai_is_ready — GDRFA DUBAI إقامة دبي (@GDRFADUBAI) March 9, 2023

Visitors and residents can log in at https://smartservices.icp.gov.ae/ to apply.

The application process in Dubai can be done by multinational companies for employees who travel frequently for international business.

How much does it cost?

The ICP website lists costs for all emirates except Dubai as follows:

  • Application fee: Dh100
  • Issuance fee: Dh500 per person
  • Electronic services: Dh50
  • Application fee: Dh100 per person
  • Electronic services: Dh50 per transaction

Dubai costs are slight different, and listed on the GDRFA as:

  • 30-day visit visa fee: Dh300
  • 60-day visit visa fee: Dh500
  • 90-day visitor visa fee: Dh700

All charges are plus VAT at 5 per cent.

A deposit of Dh2,060 is required, plus additional fees for health insurance and for applying from within the UAE.

Can I extend my visa when I’m still in the UAE?

The initial visa is issued with a 90-day duration of stay in the UAE in a year from the date of first entry. This can be extended once for an additional 90-day period. The maximum permitted duration of stay under this visa cannot exceed 180 days in a year.

Which authority do I approach to issue the visa?

This is a self-sponsored visa foreign citizens can apply for as long as they meet the eligibility conditions. In Dubai, you can approach a Customer Happiness Centre or an Amer Service Centre.

Companies can also issue this visa for international employees once the company registers with Dubai Tourism via their website.

An authorised typing centre, or a government service centre can help a person apply for it to ensure the eligibility criteria is met and the application is successful.

Individuals and families in other emirates can apply online.

How can companies get a five-year visa for international staff?

Dubai introduced a five-year multi-entry visa for employees of international companies based in the emirate to simplify the application and provide easy access to the city for global visitors.

Companies need to register with Dubai tourism, open a file for the company and then start filing for their employees instead of through a tourist agency. The employees will get the same five-year multi-entry visit visa but it will be via the company. This is open to those companies who have been approved.

What are the other tourist visa options?

For anyone not receiving a visa on arrival, a 30 or 90-day single entry tourist visa can be issued by a UAE-registered tourist agency. Cost is between Dh300 and Dh600.

If a tourist overstays, what is the grace period?

There is no longer a grace period for tourists who overstay their visa and fines will be implemented from the first day after it expires.

What is the fine per day for lapsed tourist visas?

Overstaying the permitted stay in the UAE under a tourist visa attracts a fine of Dh50 each day of overstay.

There is an additional fee for an exit permit that must be paid on departure by visitors who overstay.

All about the multiple entry five-year UAE tourist visa

  • Multiple Entry Five Year Tourist Visa

The UAE is a leading tourism destination attracting millions of visitors from around the world. The country has been extremely successful at attracting visitors and professionals by introducing strategic improvements in terms of recreational amenities and other facilities. To promote tourism even further, the government has announced a new five-year UAE Tourist Visa which allows for multiple entries into the country.

ALL ABOUT THE MULTIPLE ENTRY FIVE-YEAR UAE TOURIST VISA

The UAE Cabinet approved the decision to issue a multiple-entry UAE tourist visa that would remain valid for five years.

This new Dubai tourist visa for 5 years was announced after a cabinet meeting. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai chaired the meeting.

Passport holders from all nationalities will be eligible to apply for the new 5-year multiple-entry tourist visa. One can stay in the country for a continuous 180-days. However, another 90-day extension could be granted upon request. The applicant will be self sponsoring the visa and can enter and exit the country as many times as he or she desires.

This is another step by the UAE government to reaffirm the country’s position as one of the top global tourist destinations.

IMPLEMENTATION OF THE FIVE-YEAR UAE TOURIST VISA

The five-year, multi-entry UAE tourist visa announcement was made on 21st March 2021. The finer details about how this visa will be rolled out will be revealed in due course. Its implementation, on the other hand, is the responsibility of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship.

As per reports, the terms and conditions for getting the five-year, multi-entry UAE tourist visa will be the same as for the current UAE tourist visa.

EXPO 2020 VISITORS

The initial announcement regarding the 5-year visa was made last year in line with Expo 2020.

At the time, the chairman of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Ali Mohammad Bin Hammad Al Shamsi, had said that this decision was also taken into account, keeping in mind the upcoming visitors for Expo 2020 . The UAE welcomes 21 million visitors each year. Dubai, in particular, contributes to welcoming a significant number of tourists, so having this longer, new 5-year Dubai tourist visa will certainly be helpful.

With Expo 2020 scheduled for later this year, the government is trying to increase that number significantly. The idea is to use this mega event as a catalyst to create further global interest. By offering a 5-year tourist visa to Dubai, the government wants to ensure higher volumes of visitors that would like to stay in the country for the long term.

Reducing the amount of paperwork involved and perhaps cutting down on the overall fees will attract even more people to this land of opportunity. Given that the offer is for all nationalities, this can be a pivotal decision for the future of the UAE’s tourism industry.

WHAT IS THE FIVE YEAR MULTIPLE ENTRY TOURIST VISA FEE?

So far there hasn’t been an announcement regarding the fees for the 5-year Dubai visa for tourists.

HOW LONG IS THE VISA PROCESSING TIME?

An announcement in this regard is also expected soon. However, generally, UAE visa processing timing are fairly swift.

HOW WILL THE RESIDENTS BENEFIT FROM THIS CHANGE?

Relatives of residents who want to stay in the UAE currently have to apply for extensions if they intend to stay longer than the period mentioned on the visa. With this 5-year tourist visa in Dubai due to be enrolled soon, families can spend more time with their loved ones in the UAE.

Moreover, this five-year UAE tourist visa will, at the very least, reduce the application processing times. Applying for a visa can be a stressful experience and having to do it repeatedly is a hassle. With the 5-year UAE tourist visa, residents can stay with their relatives for longer periods. More importantly, they would only have to make a one-time payment.

While the new tourist visa for Dubai has been announced, the implementation and roll-out of the procedures may take some time. So, those who are currently staying in the country on a tourist visa, here’s how to extend tourist visa in Dubai .

It’s always best to be on the safe side and extend the visa to avoid overstaying fines . If there is any confusion, you can submit your UAE visa status enquiry.

Dubai rolls out multiple-entry tourist visa for Indians; check details

Indians are among the top visitors to the Gulf country, with 2.46 million tourists visiting Dubai in 2023. In the year-ago period, the city hosted 1.84 million tourists from India, while in 2019, it welcomed 1.97 million visitors.

  • Updated Feb 27, 2024, 3:50 PM IST

In the year-ago period, Dubai hosted 1.84 million tourists from India, while in 2019, it welcomed 1.97 million visitors.

Dubai has introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa for Indians, news agency PTI reported, citing the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET). "Dubai introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa to further bolster travel between India and Dubai, to foster sustained economic collaborations and encourage tourism and business ties," the DET said.

Dubai has now rolled out a multiple-entry visa scheme, under which Indian nationals can take multiple entries into the city for five years, with each stay allowed up to 90 days. This visa can be extended once for a similar period, ensuring that the total stay does not exceed 180 days within a year.

The visa process has also been made easy as applications will be processed within two to five working days upon receiving and accepting the service request.

To avail of the visa, applicants must possess a bank balance of $4,000 or equivalent in foreign currencies during the last six months and have valid health insurance coverage applicable in the UAE.

Through this initiative, tourists can leverage multiple entries and exits, providing operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity, DET said.

"As a key market for Dubai, India will continue to play an integral role in enabling us to achieve the goals of the D33 Agenda, further reinforcing Dubai's position as a hub for business, investment, and tourism," said Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, said.

"Our inbound visitation from India in 2023 was outstanding, contributing to a record-breaking performance by our tourism sector," Habib said, adding that the move will not only allow Indian tourists to visit Dubai but also provide a platform for enhanced economic collaboration.

Earlier this month, Iran announced a visa-waiver programme for Indians entering the country by air for tourism for a maximum stay of 15 days. The visa-free entry was rolled out for Indian citizens from February 4 subject to four conditions. In December, Iran approved a new visa-free programme for India and 32 other countries, including the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Malaysia.

  • Dubai's 5-year-multiple visa allows each stay for 90 days
  • Visa can be extended once, total stay shall not exceed 180 days within a year
  • Visa issued within 2-5 working days upon receiving and accepting service request

Dubai has rolled out a five-year multiple-entry visa to boost travel between India and the Gulf nation, news agency PTI reported, citing the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET).

Last year, 2.46 million Indians visited Dubai, a 25 per cent rise from the pre-Covid-19 pandemic era. This figure has made India the number one source market with an exceptional 34 per cent year-on-year growth, according to the latest DET data on February 22.

In the year-ago period, the city hosted 1.84 million tourists from India, while in 2019, it welcomed 1.97 million visitors, it added.

Eligible Indian nationals can now enjoy the convenience of multiple entries into Dubai for five years, with each stay allowed up to 90 days. This visa can be extended once for a similar period, ensuring that the total stay does not exceed 180 days within a year.

The visa-issuance process is notably efficient, with applications being processed within two to five working days upon receiving and accepting the service request.

To qualify for the visa, applicants must meet specific requirements, including possessing a bank balance of $4,000 or its equivalent in foreign currencies during the last six months and having valid health insurance coverage applicable in the UAE.

Through this initiative, tourists can leverage multiple entries and exits, providing operational flexibility for business engagements, leisure travel, and seamless connectivity, DET said, PTI reported.

"Dubai introduced a five-year multiple-entry visa to further bolster travel between India and Dubai, to foster sustained economic collaborations and encourage tourism and business ties," the DET said.

"As a key market for Dubai, India will continue to play an integral role in enabling us to achieve the goals of the D33 Agenda, further reinforcing Dubai's position as a hub for business, investment and tourism," said Bader Ali Habib, Regional Head of Proximity Markets at Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism, said.

"Our inbound visitation from India in 2023 was outstanding, contributing to a record-breaking performance by our tourism sector," he added.

Habib said the move will not only allow Indian tourists to visit Dubai but also provide a platform for enhanced economic collaboration.

"With exceptional flight connectivity and our ongoing commitment to the Indian market, we are confident that our upcoming initiatives will further amplify awareness about Dubai's diverse offerings, multicultural setting, and abundance of hotels and attractions, continuing to make it the top travel choice for Indian tourists," he said. The five-year multiple-entry visa is available for tourists of all nationalities and has been available for the past two years, Dubai authorities confirmed to Khaleej Times on Friday.

Several Indian media outlets reported on Thursday that a new, five-year, multiple-entry visa has been launched for Indian tourists. The multiple-entry permit was first announced in the UAE in 2021 and the first visas were issued soon after.

To boost tourism from one of its top markets, Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) highlighted this during a travel expo in Mumbai this week.

The visa, issued within two to five working days upon receiving and accepting the service request, allows its holder to stay in the country for 90 days, extendable once for a similar period, with a total stay not exceeding 180 days in one year.

The post read: “The amount of inquiries we have been receiving from India over the last two years on this visa category has been overwhelming.”

Ali Habib highlighted the versatility of the visa, enabling individuals to spend quality time with family, meet friends, and attend business or leisure events. How To Apply For A Dubai Multiple Entry Visa 2024?

Suppose you want to apply for the UAE or Dubai multiple entry visa from immigration departments in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra (Western region). In that case, you can do so on the ICA website .

Whereas the GDRFA website will authorize the five-year multiple-entry tourist visa issued through Dubai.

However, it is advised that you use the ICA website for a smoother visa application process since the GDRFAD has some bugs on its website.

Application Process For UAE 5-Year Visa

How to get a UAE visa from India? To apply for a UAE 5-year tourist visa, it's quite easy if you follow these steps:

STEP 1: Access the website

Access the ICA website to start your application. Alternatively, you can access the GDRFA website to apply for a 5-year tourist visa for UAE.

Once you access the website, click on "Public Services."

This will give you a list of visas you can apply for. The box that says "Visa-multiple entry-longterm (for 5 years) for all nationalities" is the visa you want to apply for. Click on the "start service" option.

STEP 2: Fill out the application form

Next, you need to provide a bunch of information. There are 4 main categories of information you need to provide.

These categories are applicant information (name and email), personal information for service beneficiaries (current nationality, country of birth, passport number, and type), address inside the UAE, and address outside the UAE.

STEP 3: Attach the required documents

Next, you must attach all the required travel documents I mentioned earlier. These documents include a copy of your valid passport, passport-size photograph, medical insurance, bank statements, and any other travel documents they might ask for.

STEP 4: Review your application

You're almost done! Next, you need to review your application. This might seem like the easiest step, but it's crucial. You must make sure that all the information and documents you gave are correct.

If you leave out any documents or you make a mistake in the application form, it could slow down the application process.

STEP 5: Pay the required visa fee

The last thing you need to do before submitting your application is to pay the 5-year multiple entry visit visa UAE price. Online payment is secure, and you can pay with a credit or debit card.

Then, you can submit your application! And that is the visa application process for a 5-year visa in UAE.

Getting Local Contact For The UAE Five-Year Multi-Entry Tourist Visa

When applying for the Dubai multiple entry visa for Indians, you will come across the fields where you must provide the contact details of a local in the UAE.

Ask Friends, Family, or Relatives : The best option is to inquire with your friends, family, or relatives in the UAE if you can use their address as a contact.

Check with Hotels : If you don't have any acquaintances in the UAE, you can ask hotels if they can assist you with the contact details. However, note that most large hotels do not provide a mobile phone number.

Small Hotels or Airbnb : Consider booking accommodation with a small hotel or Airbnb that may be willing to provide the required contact details.

Seek Help from Friends in India : Alternatively, ask your friends in India if they know anyone in the UAE who might be willing to provide the necessary contact information.

If you're unsure, I recommend you contact your local UAE Embassy or use the ICA helpline to be sure. This is only to help you so that your visa application won't be denied.

Important Note For Dubai Multiple Entry Visa For Indians

Though the Dubai 5-year tourist visa for Indian citizens is a great option, there are a few things that you should bear in mind. The first thing that will be slightly disappointing to many people is the success rate of the visa application.

Since this 5-year multiple-entry visit visa option is available to most nationalities, the success rate of having the visa application approved for Indian citizens is as low as 5% .

I have seen many cases where the visa is approved within a month or even a few days. This brings me to the second point about this visa. In certain instances, the visa can take up to 7 months to get approved.

However, your application will certainly be successful if you meet the requirements and provide the correct information and documents. And lastly, unfortunately , you cannot apply for this five-year visa using Atlys.

The new visa aims to simplify the process for tourists, requiring only a few business days for processing. Indian tourists contributed 2.46 million overnight stays in the UAE in 2023, marking a 25% increase compared to pre-pandemic levels.

The move aligns with Dubai's D33 Agenda, aiming to double the city's economy in the next decade. The 5-year visa, usable for both business and leisure purposes, is issued within two to five working days, allowing a stay of up to 90 days, extendable once for an additional 90 days, not exceeding 180 days per year.

To apply, travelers need a valid passport, a six-month bank statement with a minimum of $4,000, health insurance, return flight tickets, and a photo.

The visa underscores the strong ties between India and Dubai, reflecting the commitment to further strengthen the relationship. The move leverages Dubai's exceptional flight connectivity and ongoing commitment to the Indian market. The bilateral air service agreement between the UAE and India, effective since January 2014, allows airlines from both countries to operate a maximum of 66,000 seats per week between Dubai and India, supporting increased travel and tourism activities.
