I may be biased but I think I am not alone when I say Pinto Art Museum is one of the most picturesque contemporary museums in the country!
Established in 2010, Pinto Art Museum was born from the art collection of its founder, neurologist Dr. Joven Cuanang. From the museum’s name pinto , which translates to ‘door’, the aim is to bridge diverse cultures and perspectives through arts.
The museum presents various types of arts — sculptures, paintings, installations, mixed media, and more — which revolve around religion, historical events, and different modernist movements. It also showcases the works of Filipino contemporary artists. Another popular feature that you should not miss when you visit is its in-house restaurant, the Cafe Rizal .
Designed by artist Antonio Leaño, the whole museum complex is composed of white structures enclosed in a two-hectare botanical garden. It exudes a serene atmosphere. It’s not surprising that this is one of the most Instagrammed museums in the Philippines. The place is also open to couples who want to do a prenuptial shoot. Contact the management for the rates.

Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs
The Angono Petroglyphs are petroglyphs carved into a rock wall in Angono, Rizal, Philippines. It consists of 127 human and animal figures engraved on the rockwall probably carved during the late Neolithic, or before 2000 BC. They are the oldest known work of art in the Philippines. These inscriptions clearly show stylized human figures, frogs and lizards, along with other designs that may have depicted other interesting figures but erosion may have caused it to become indistinguishable. The engravings are mostly symbolic representations and are associated with healing and sympathetic magic. The site is sacred for indigenous Tagalog folk religion and is believed to be a home for anitos.
The site has been declared by the National Museum of the Philippines as a National Cultural Treasure in 1973. It is also included in the list of the World Inventory of Rock Art in 1985 and historic sites of the World Monuments Watch and World Monuments Funds and part of the Philippines’ tentative list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. But more than its historical significance, the natural beauty of the cave’s interiors and chambers are magnets that attract a lot of people that even films and television productions often use the cave as their shooting location. Palo Alto Falls are actually located in the Palo Alto Leisure and Residential Estates. This is a 200 hectare prime residential and commercial estate.
From the parking area, there are 249 concrete steps to get to the actual foot of Palo Alto Falls. The falls are about 300 metres up from the parking area. However, don’t be alarmed as the path is fully concreted/paved and only takes about 10-15 minutes. Along the way, you’ll walk through thick forests split by a small stream, with water gently trickling down through the rocks.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and have been well thought out, making it a safe and easy place to visit and enjoy. The waterfall itself is a natural waterfall. As part of the landscaping effort, the rock pool into which the water cascades has been paved so that it’s easy to walk around in. This is great for bare feet! A lane of 27 wind turbines stand atop sloping hills at 300 meters above sea level, towering over Laguna de Bay and standing along the NW-SE line to capture the Amihan from October to March, whose speeds can reach 36km/hour. Each turbine can produce 2MW. The entire farm is estimated to be able to generate almost 150 Gigawatt hours of electricity every year. Regina Rica
The 13.5 hectares of Regina RICA (Regina Rosarii Institute for Contemplation in Asia) is located along Marilaque or Marcos Highway at Sitio Aguho, Sampaloc Tanay, Rizal. It is roughly a two hours drive from Pasig city where we originated from. We only commuted so it may take just an hour and a half if you have your own vehicle.
Upon entering the gates of the Dominican community of Regina RICA, you’ll see two iconic figures namely, the image of St. Dominic and St. Catherine of Siena at the gate. A few more steps and you’ll see some letterings on the wall where motorbikes are parked that says “Dominican Sisters of Regina Rosarii”, then you’ll have to walk a few more steps towards the building structures. But from there you’ll be able to see already the huge statue located on top of the hills they call El Shaddai Hills. It’s a sprawling expanse with plenty of awesome tourist attractions, both popular ones and little-known gems. Municipalities in the province of Rizal include: Angono, Antipolo, Baras, Binangonan, Cainta, Cardona, Jalajala, Morong, Pililla, Montalban, San Mateo, Tanay, Taytay, and Teresa. COVID-19 Regulations In Rizal
Rizal is currently on Alert Level 3 until January 15, 2022. Under this classification, intrazonal and interzonal travel are allowed, subject to restrictions determined by the LGU.
When traveling, make sure you have your vaccination card with you at all times. Border control points are set up at various points throughout the Greater Manila Area, with officers checking the vaccination cards of motorists and passengers crossing municipal borders. Keep in mind that a lot of resorts only accept fully vaccinated guests—so make sure to get vaxxed ASAP!
If you’re expecting to enter public establishments like malls, restaurants, and even convenience stores, set up the contact tracing app Stay Safe on your mobile phone and generate a QR code for quick and easy entry. The use of face masks is strictly implemented throughout the Philippines, particularly in indoor and outdoor public areas. Face shields remain optional.

Embrace your inner art lover.
The creative spirit runs deep in Rizal. As the country’s Art Capital, the relatively small town of Angono should be your first stop if you and your friends are on the hunt for amazing local art. Botong’s Studio is the home museum and studio of National Artist Carlos “Botong” Francisco, while Nemiranda Arthouse showcases the stunning works of famous painter and sculptor Nemesio “Nemiranda” Miranda Jr. The Blanco Family Museum is also a must-see for the amazing volume of works by Jose Blanco and his family. Even the street murals along Doña Aurora Street are a vibrant tribute to Botong Francisco. And did you know that the oldest known artworks in the Philippines are found here? Drop by the Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs for a peek at stone carvings dating back to the third millennium B.C.
Other must-visit galleries in Rizal include the uber-popular Pinto Art Museum in Antipolo and Rafael Pacheco Art Gallery in Morong.
Explore The Great Outdoors
Embraced by the Sierra Madre Mountain Range, Tanay is one of the best places near Metro Manila where nature lovers can get lost in the wilderness. Tinipak River , Mount Daraitan , Daranak Falls , and Calinawan Cave are only five of the popular outdoor attractions in Tanay—trust us, there are many, many more. And if you want to spend the night under the stars, there are a wide array of camping spots to choose from. As a no-hike peak, Treasure Mountain is a destination that suits all kinds of outdoor lovers. Here, you get to wake up to a breathtaking sea of clouds in the morning.
And of course, the rest of Rizal offers more natural gems: Mount Pamitinan and Wawa Dam in Montalban, Hinulugang Taktak in Antipolo, and Masungi Georeserve in Baras.

The Antipolo Cathedral is popular among many devout Catholics, but there are plenty of other significant churches in the province that are worth a visit, including St. Jerome Parish in Morong and St. Joseph Parish in Baras. In fact, a tour through these churches is a popular activity during Holy Week with many tourists even going all the way to Laguna and Quezon.

The Angono-Binangonan Petroglyphs are an important historic site because it is believed to be the oldest known artworks in the country. These ancient images were carved into a wall of solid rock in the mountainside of Angono and Binangonan.
They span 25 meters of the wall and measure up to 3.7 meters from the ground. The images depict 127 human and animal figures, which are said to be associated with magic and healing.
While archaeologists estimate that they were made during the Neolithic period, the petroglyphs were only discovered back in 1965 by the late National Artist of the Philippines, Carlos V. Francisco. He himself was a muralist and a native of Angono.
Following his breakthrough, the National Museum of the Philippines built a view deck where visitors could safely admire the ancient piece of art. Today, it is recognized as one of the Philippines' National Cultural Treasures.

Hinulugang Taktak is a 70-feet-tall waterfall that is nestled in Antipolo City. It is one of the nearest waterfalls from Manila and is about 84 feet in width. The stunning waterscape was named as such because a large bell (taktak) was dropped (hinulog) into it in the 15th or 16th century.
The bell was thrown there because locals disliked how loud it was when it was rung. In the following years, the area surrounding the falls has been designated as a protected area and a national park.
Though pollution in the 1990s made the water unsafe for recreational purposes such as swimming, visitors can still take a dip in the pool close to the falls. A cemented viewing deck has been built as well so tourists can get a better view of the falling water.
The whole park spans 3.2 hectares and also features attractions such as hanging bridges amid the canopy of trees in the park.
Wawa Dam is another spot that is beloved by locals for the cool water that falls from it. The dam is located in the Montalban Gorge along the Marikina River. It was originally built to provide water to Manila back in 1909 during the American colonial period.
However, it was eventually abandoned in 1968 after the Angat Dam was opened. Since then, it has become a popular spot for swimming and hiking.
The water rushing from the top of the dam also makes it look like a large waterfall and is a great attraction to take photos of. Travelers can also take a dip in the portion of the Marikina River near the dam to enjoy the cool waters.
After swimming, you can rent one of the bamboo cottages situated at the foot of the dam to have a meal while soaking your feet in the running water. Lush greens also surround the dam as it is part of Pamitinan Protected Landscape.

Once you set foot on the deck, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the cityscape. One of the best times to visit is in the late afternoon so you can watch the sunset.

On the rolling hills of Pililla sit 27 giant wind turbines that provide clean energy to Manila. Photo by Cyril Vidal (from Antipolo Cathedral's Facebook Page)
The Antipolo Cathedral sits atop a hill in Antipolo City from where visitors can get a panoramic view of the cityscape below. This church was completed in 1632 and has been a well-known destination for travelers since it houses the image of Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage.
Among the many visitors who paid respect to the wooden sculpture was our country's national hero, the late Jose Rizal, who came with his father back in 1868. Locals also go there to get their new cars blessed or before a long trip in hopes of getting to their destinations safely.
However, the cathedral also had its fair share of troubles and was destroyed during World War II. Following the war, architect Jose L. de Ocampo designed a new shrine that was completed in 1954.
One of the most important events that are celebrated here is the commemorative thanksgiving mass that takes place on the first Tuesday of May. This holy ceremony marks the start of the pilgrimage season and started back in 1947.

Pinto Art Museum is an open-air exhibition space that is located inside a two-hectare botanical garden in Antipolo City. As an avid advocate of the arts, Dr. Cuanang's collection features paintings and sculptures from Filipino artists such as Elmer Borlongan, Geraldine Javier, and Marina Cruz, among others. The museum also consists of artworks that date back to the Spanish colonial period in the Philippines.
The whole collection is also spread across various white buildings that resemble Mediterranean architecture. While you are free to roam around the museum, the staff also offers guided tours for those looking to dive deeper into the history of the pieces.
As you make your way through the various exhibits, you can also enjoy a delicious meal and a rich cup of coffee at the in-house coffee shop called Cafe Rizal. Travelers can also visit a minimalist chapel inside the museum grounds that contain unique statues.
The Masungi Georeserve is a nature conservation center situated in the Sierra Madre mountain range in Baras, Rizal. The complex features stunning limestone peaks, lush rainforests, and caves with stalactite and stalagmite formations.

From here, you can get a 360-degree view of the Sierra Madre mountain range and the Laguna de Bay. Travelers can also rest in an open-air bamboo house that sits in the middle of a long bridge and is suspended above tree crowns.
After exploring the diverse landscape, you can then look over the city skyline while enjoying a tasty meal at a hilltop glass hut inside the complex. To properly care for the natural landscape, the center only accepts a limited number of visitors per day, so make sure to call ahead to secure a spot.

Museong Pambayan ng Morong
Tourist Museong Pambayan ng Morong
The Museo was established for the people of Morong as well as for all Filipinos. The Museo showcases the rich history and culture of the Moronguenos who descended from the river people and lakeshore dwellers around the Laguna de Bay (now Laguna Lake) long before the Spaniards came to colonize our land. They had interacted with Chinese traders who left artefacts and wares that were later discovered buried by the mouth of the Morong River. Many of these wares have designs and markings typical of those made during the Sung and Ming Chinese Dynasties and are evidences of a fair sized thriving settlement with a presumably robust local economy, centuries ago, inferring that our forefathers dealt and intermingled with their Asian neighbors.
