  • Lord's Cricket Ground
  • London Tourism

The  Home Of Cricket  is high on most people's list of grounds to watch a test match, with an  Ashes Test Match at Lord's  at the top. Incomparable for cricket history and heroics, you don't need to see a match to feel and absorb the difference of watching cricket here. You can't do a   Lord's Cricket Ground Tour  during the Ashes Test Match , so create the time either side for an experience through the hallowed ground.

We are staying in west London, opposite Gloucester Road tube station, and close to our favoured Goat Tavern . There are very easy transport links to Lord's, along with dozens of dining & drinking options, and London's primary attractions such as Theatreland, galleries, gardens, museums, palaces & parks.

If you fly Qantas Airways to London, get on the Piccadilly Line at London Heathrow (tap on with your debit or credit card - you do not need an oyster card) and without needing to change, get off at Gloucester Road (Zone 1). You can save a few pounds by getting off at Earl's Court (Zone 2) and walking 15mins to the hotel. Radisson Blu Edwardian Vanderbilt is diagonally opposite the station. No simpler hotel to reach.

If you need extra nights before or after the test, let us know. Wimbledon Tennis Championships start the day after the Lord's Test, on July 3 so you may need 2 or 3 extra nights before going to Leed's, unless you're lining up overnight for tickets!

The pre-test match dinner on June 27 is at Park Plaza Westminster, with transfers from the hotel at 6pm (TBC). Dinner is included and hosted by Cricket Australia Travel Office.

With much to see and do in London, you can only wish for a 3 day game but you are there for the game, not the gardens. For a 'highlight' book a ticket for The Shard, where you can stay for as long as you want. For free sightseeing at altitude, book a ticket to the Sky Garden where you can look at people at The Shard that paid £30 to look at you.

Another little known London freebie is Sunday morning mass in the Chapel within the Tower of London. Even non-believers are welcome to this unique weekly ritual. With Day 5 starting at 11am, you'll have plenty of time to say your prayers before getting to the game.

Of course, London's West End is famed for its plays and musicals, and getting cheaper tickets on the day from TKTS in Leicester Square is a good bet. Otherwise, visit London Tourism for a 'footy record' of who's crooning where and when and how to book tickets. Keep in mind the game will finish at 6.30pm because we won't get 90 overs bowled by 6pm.

So speaking of the game, you can easily reach St John's Wood  by tube from Gloucester Road, but the hour's walk through Kensington Gardens, Paddington, and Little Venice, is a much nicer commute. With an 11am start (no early starts in the UK), you really can pace your morning.

If you are leaving us July 3, Gloucester Road tube station to London Heathrow is the easiest way out. If you are heading to Leeds by train for the 3rd Test, the tube to King's Cross St Pancras is where you need to go.

Schedule, venues confirmed for England WTC25 tour of New Zealand

New Zealand Cricket have announced dates and locations for the England Test series, beginning in late November.

Hagley Oval in Christchurch, the Basin Reserve in Wellington, and Seddon Park in Hamilton will host New Zealand's three Tests, all part of the ongoing 2023-2025 World Test Championship.

New Zealand Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink says the early announcement of England's Test tour comes after a surge in popularity in the long format, where seven of the eight days of the two Tests against Australia earlier this year were sold out.

“In the past, there’s often been a lot of talk in New Zealand about the popularity of Test cricket - without that translating into ticket sales or viewership numbers,” he said.

“The difference over the past summer, and in terms of the upcoming Tests against England, is that the interest is being converted to bums on seats and is driving record viewership numbers.

“We’re looking forward to that continuing over the upcoming summer, and to welcoming the England team and their fans to the Tests, and of course all the Kiwi-based supporters as well.”

New Zealand become WTC21 Champions – Day 6 Highlights

Winners of the first World Test Championship cycle in 2021, New Zealand sit in third on the 2023-2025 table, having collected 50% of possible points in their campaign thus far. The Black Caps claimed maximum points in their home series against South Africa and collected a win in their away two-match series with Bangladesh, before falling to a 2-0 series defeat to current defending World Test Champions Australia.

World Test Championship standings

Both Australia and Sri Lanka women’s teams, alongside the Sri Lanka and Pakistan men’s teams, will also be touring in the 2024/2025 summer.

The remainder of New Zealand's home international schedule will be announced later in the year.

LONDON (AP) — The England and Wales Cricket Board on Tuesday announced a three-test tour to New Zealand starting at Christchurch on Nov. 28.

After the series opener at Hagley Oval, the tour will move to the North Island for tests in Wellington from Dec. 6-10 and in Hamilton from Dec. 14-18.

The last time the test teams met in February and March of last year, they split a two-match series after England was on the verge of a 2-0 victory when skipper Ben Stokes enforced the follow-on. New Zealand won by one run — only the fourth team in history to win a test after following on — in the second test after England won the first by 267 runs.

The three matches at the end of this year form part of the World Test Championship, which New Zealand won in its inaugural edition before losing the title to Australia.

India, which has won six of nine tests in this edition, leads the WTC standings with Australia in second place and New Zealand in third. England is ninth ahead of home series against West Indies and Sri Lanka.

The top two teams will advance to a final at Lord’s in 2025.

New Zealand Cricket chief executive Scott Weenink said there were already indications that the three matches against Brendon McCullum's team would attract the same sort of bumper attendances witnessed for the two home tests against Australia in February and March.

The T20 World Cup takes place in the West Indies and United States in June, while England also have a five-match ODI series against Australia in September.

England are currently last in the World Test Championship table following a 4-1 series defeat to India at the start of the year.

Having won just three of their 10 matches since the 2023-25 edition of the competition began, England require a major turnaround to have a chance of reaching next year's final at Lord's.

"The difference over the past summer, and in terms of the upcoming Tests against England, is that the interest is being converted to bums on seats and is driving record viewership numbers. "We're looking forward to that continuing over the upcoming summer, and to welcoming the England team and their fans to the Tests, and of course all the Kiwi-based supporters as well." Winners of the first World Test Championship cycle in 2021, New Zealand sit in third on the 2023-2025 table, having collected 50% of possible points in their campaign thus far. The Black Caps claimed maximum points in their home series against South Africa and collected a win in their away two-match series with Bangladesh, before falling to a 2-0 series defeat to current defending World Test Champions Australia.

Both Australia and Sri Lanka women's teams, alongside Sri Lanka and Pakistan men's teams, will also be touring in the 2024/2025 summer. The remainder of New Zealand's home international schedule will be announced later.
