Would you recommend this to other mums?

The Chicco Urban Plus really does come with everything! In the box I received a car seat including base, colour pack, chassis plus a bassinet that transforms into the toddler seat. The chassis was sturdy and you get a little frame which can be clipped on and means the car seat can clip straight on to the pram. It folds down quite neatly and has a large storage basket.

How did this product make your life easier?

Being able to clip the car seat right on to the frame is a massive help, especially if you have a sleeping baby. I like that this travel system truly is just that by including the car seat in the price, superb value for money. The colour packs are a great idea as you can change them whenever you want and also makes it more versatile for a second baby of a different gender.

Would you choose this product to win?

I love that it comes with all the extras included in the price. The basket is HUGE so can easily fit all your shopping and bits in there without a worry. It collapses really easily and so compact, with a handle on the chassis for easy lifting.

What changes would you make to this product?

I found it really tricky to remove the car seat from the pram attachment, it took me several attempts so I think this could be improved. The mechanisms in general are quite stiff however I would hope that with continued use this would loosen up. I'm not a fan of the base for the car seat so if I were to purchase this pram I'd want to upgrade to an ISOFIX base.

The Chicco Urban Plus comes with the full shebang. Within the box, there was: a car seat with base, colour pack, chassis and carrycot that also changes in to the toddler seat. This pram is very firm which I liked and also folds down very neatly. An alternative to this is that you can also get a smaller frame which can be clipped on and means the car seat can attach straight to the pram which I thought was a good little extra.

As an active mum who is in and out of the car a lot, I found that the car seat to frame feature was a real hit and also is a massive help if the baby is asleep - baby is none the wiser that there has been any transfer so less drama. The basket is huge so its very handy for shopping and days out. It collapses very easy and very compact so no issue in and out of the boot with a handy handle - no fuss trying to get a good hold to lift.

The extras are brilliant and the fact is is a travel system always appeals to me. I also liked the idea of the colour packs as this means that if another baby comes along, it can be changed to fit if the baby is a different sex.

The one feature I would change on this Chicco Urban Plus would just be the design of removing the car seat from the pram attachment. I found this quite challenging. I would hope that maybe with time and wear and tear it would get easier but I really struggled with this. If that was improved, i would really struggle to find a fault with this pram.

This is an very good system and is excellent value for money. I was surprised to see that the Chicco Urban Plus also comes with a car seat and base. The car seat can be attached to the chassis of the pram by attaching a pram, which is also supplied. The pram is easy to put up and fold back down and it has a great-sized shopping basket.

The fact that the car seat can be attached directly to the chassis is very convenient. It made short trips out so much easier than having to take my son our of his car seat and put him into the pram each time. The adjustable handle is also a great touch and not something you find on all travel systems. This is something I would look for when purchasing a new pram and it makes pushing the pram more comfortable for daddy!

Whilst it is excellent value for money, I did find a few things that I didn't like about it. Compared to other travel systems, this wasn't the easiest to steer and it quite heavy for a compact pram. I also found the positioning of the brake quite cumbersome.

Whilst it is a bonus having the car seat and base included as part of the package, I personally would prefer that the car seat have an ISOFIX mechanism. The car seat was fiddly to detach from the pram too, the fixings were quite stiff. This could have been down to the fact that it was new but if not these could certainly be improved.

Urban pram and pushchair travel system  

The Urban travel system is a stylish addition to the Chicco range. Light and easy to transport, it is perfect for fashionistas who like to get out and about.

Stylish, beautiful colours and perfect for those who like to coordinate

This is pram is designed for the modern mummy with a lovely fresh look and feel, and some beautiful accessories. One of the big plus points of the pram is that you can get different colour accessory packs. For those ladies who like to coordinate, there are five different colours: Red Wave, Cherry, Anthracite, Beige and Emerald. This is also gives parents a choice to pick their favourite colour – my husband preferred the soothing Emerald cover over Red Wave.

The pack also provides a good quality pram apron that kept Rory nice and cosy. It is simple to fix the packs in and easy to string the straps through the soft padded reducer and the safety harness pads.  

The pram is light and easy to lift. It has different size wheels and the front swiveling wheels make the stroller more agile across different surfaces . When we came to an uneven path, we simply locked the wheels at the front and the journey wasn’t too bumpy for Rory. The one downside for us was the break seemed to be a bit too easy to hit accidentally as we walked (particularly for my husband). The break is very secure though and goes on first time, so very reassuring.

All in one – Adjustable

The Urban is much simpler than some other travel systems, with one seating/carrycot unit that can easily be converted from pram to stroller. This is great for storage at home.

Rory was a little too big for the carrycot when we first got the system, but I can see how this would make a comfortable pram for a newborn, with a soft lining for the bed configuration. The seating unit reclines easy, so good if your older baby just wants to take a bit of a rest too.

You can have baby facing you when they need the reassurance of seeing your face, but you can also turn it the other way when they want to see where they’re going.

The canopy is great for napping babies – we could pull it right over so when he was sleeping Rory wasn’t bothered by the sun.

Fits the Chicco Auto-Fix Fast car seat

There is a car seat adapter, which you use to attach the Chicco Auto-Fix Fast car seat to the stroller chassis. Great for when you don’t want to wake baby if they’ve fallen asleep in the car. The adapter was very light, so simple to put together and the car seat slotted in securely and quickly so as not to disturb Rory when he’s sleeping.

Transportable and compact

Something I really loved about this pram was how compact and light the system was. This was ideal especially as I still had some back pain following the c-section. It was very easy to place the car in the car boot and leaving lots of room for your shopping (even Rory’s uncle’s car boot which was already pretty full with his luggage).

Did it make us smile?

The look and feel of the Urban travel system, as well as it’s compact size and lightweight frame certainly made me smile. The colour packs makes it stand out – and I can only imagine how lovely it is for Rory to relax under the colourful hood.

Baby is almost 6 months but 2+m fits well for her.4+ is too much. But too much air bubbles get left over and teat becomes squashed if baby keeps drinking milk from it so need like a breather every 30seconds ish

Once upon a time, parents needed more than one stroller to accommodate their growing babies. The Chicco Urban 6-in-1 Modular Stroller does an excellent job of eliminating that need. The six “riding modes” accommodate the Chicco KeyFit Car Seat (an adapter is included, but the car seat is sold separately for $200), the infant bassinet and the toddler seat, each facing inward or outward. It converts from one mode to the next with relative ease—even for someone like me, who tends to be stumped by the most straightforward of instruction manuals.

The unique toddler seat quickly converts into an infant bassinet. Just press on each of the round side buttons on the center of the seat and rotate it back into a flat position, then undo the buckles underneath, which drops the bottom of the seat out. The padded insert is really plush and comfortable for baby. When the seat is back in toddler mode, it allows for three positions—upright, reclined and flat. Again, you just press on those side buttons to tip it back or forward. Additionally, the footrest has its own two side buttons you can press simultaneously to adjust to four positions.

Weighing 26 pounds, the Urban is about 10 pounds heavier than comparable multiuse strollers. It can carry children up to 50 pounds, with a storage basket that holds up to 10 pounds of diapers, sippy cups, toys and whatever else you need to temporarily stow away. The wheels can be locked/unlocked with the touch of just one foot button, which is located between the two rear wheels (another huge improvement on strollers I’ve used with my older children). The wheels can also be removed quickly for storage and travel, a useful feature for cramming the stroller in the back of an already-packed car, for example.

Performance

Since there isn’t an abundance of mysterious parts to piece together, assembling the Urban took my husband no more than 15 minutes from start to finish. Unlike strollers I’ve used in the past, which seemed to require an engineering degree to open and close, the frame isn’t hard to fold up with one hand.

Because my son was already over 20 pounds—not to mention sitting up on his own and crawling—when we got the Urban, we pretty much skipped the infant carriage phase and went straight to toddler mode. The seat insert is well-padded and soft, as are the shoulder and crotch pads, so he seemed perfectly comfortable right away in his new ride. Listed among the Urban’s official features is all-wheel suspension, which must be why the ride seemed especially smooth. My son fell fast asleep not 10 minutes into his first stroll—and any stroller that can put baby to sleep is a winner in my book. That said, front swivel wheels are also a touted feature of the Urban, which would suggest effortless steering, but navigation is actually the one area in which I feel like this stroller could use a little work. It tends to veer slightly off course, especially if the road is uneven.

The padded push handle very smoothly telescopes out to three different height positions at the push of a button in the center of the handlebar, which makes switching back and forth between users a snap. The stroller handles hills well: not too heavy going up, not too unwieldy going down. I also personally love that the seat can either face in or out, since my older children absolutely hated facing out in their strollers as babies, which usually resulted in some back-breaking babywearing for me.

A variety of Urban Stroller Color Packs (sold separately for $70 each) lets you change up your stroller’s look. There’s emerald, pink, red, blue, magenta, green, London (striped) and coal. I was personally happy to stick with the coal color—black hides a multitude of unsightly sins, as any parent who’s ever tried to scrub mushed banana and cereal crumbs out of stroller or car seat crevices can tell you.

Once folded, the stroller isn’t quite as compact as I hoped it would be, but I can’t expect such a full-service item to be especially streamlined. Still, with clean lines and a modern shape, the Urban is definitely a good looking stroller. It holds its own at the park among higher-end models (if that kind of thing matters to you) and is certainly much cooler than the fussier, frillier things I pushed my older kids around in.

As parents, anything that makes our lives a little bit easier is worth investing in, and the Chicco Urban 6-in-1 Stroller is without a doubt one of the easiest to use, most comprehensive stroller/car seat systems on the market, even if it’s not the smallest or lightest.
