Report: Washington State transfer Myles Rice planning IU visit this weekend
- Alex Bozich
- 04/11/2024 4:03 pm in
Washington State guard Myles Rice, one of the top available guards in the transfer portal, is reportedly planning to visit Indiana this weekend.
Jeff Rabjohns of Peegs.com reported the news of Rice’s visit to Indiana , but did not specify a date.
Earlier Thursday, it was reported that Rice would not take a visit to Auburn, which was considered to be one of the schools he was considering.
The Pac-12 freshman of the year last season, Rice averaged 14.8 points, 3.8 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game last season for the Cougars.
In 33.2 minutes per game, he shot 43.9 percent from the field, 27.5 percent on 3s, and 81.1 percent from the free-throw line.
Rice was named first-team All-Pac 12 and scored in double figures 27 times in his lone season in Pullman. He also won Pac-12 freshman of the week seven times.
It’s expected to be a busy weekend in Bloomington for visitors as Bradley’s Connor Hickman and Minnesota’s Pharrel Payne are scheduled to be on campus. Arizona transfer Oumar Ballo is scheduled to visit beginning Sunday.

Three-Star 2025 OL Jayden Clark Confirms Official Visit And Talks Spring Visit Recap
Clark is a 2025 prospect.
- Author: Caleb Sisk
In this story:
TUNNEL HILL — Cincinnati Bearcats long-term offensive line target Jayden Clark visited recently to see the campus, coaches, and atmosphere.
Clark is a 2025 offensive tackle prospect from Northmont High School. He is a three-star talent ranked 760th nationally and 48th among interior offensive lineman on 247Sports. He had good things to say about his visit.
“The visit was great! It was great because of how they expressed their want for me!" Clark said. "I like the style of practice Cincinnati had, everything was quick and concise and all was done that was needed. I most likely will be at an OV (official visit) June 7th-9th! Cincy is definitely a top in my recruitment as of now.”

Kamala Harris hammers Trump on abortion in Arizona visit
Vice President Kamala Harris on Friday went after former President Donald Trump in a visit to Arizona highlighting reproductive rights just days after the state's Supreme Court ruled that an 1864 near-total abortion ban is enforceable.
Harris slammed Trump over his record and rhetoric on abortion, calling him the “architect of this healthcare crisis,” as the court ruling brings the vital swing state to the forefront of abortion politics .
“President Donald Trump hand-picked three members of the United States Supreme Court because he intended for them to overturn Roe, and as he intended they did,” she said in Tucson.
Harris also pointed to Trump's previous comments about how women who seek abortions should be punished .
"Joe Biden and I trust women to know what is in their own best interest," the vice president said. "And women trust all of us, to fight to protect their most fundamental freedoms. So Arizona, this November, up and down the ballot, reproductive freedom is at stake and you have the power to protect it with your vote."
Harris previously blamed Trump for the court’s ruling.
“This even more extreme and dangerous ban criminalizes almost all abortion care in the state and puts women’s lives at risk. It provides no exceptions for rape, incest, or health,” Harris said in a statement Tuesday. “It’s a reality because of Donald Trump, who brags about being ‘proudly the person responsible’ for overturning Roe v. Wade , and made it possible for states to enforce cruel bans.”
On Friday, she spoke alongside state and local officials, including Rep. Ruben Gallego, who is running for the Senate .
Harris has taken a lead role in the administration’s approach to reproductive rights, traveling across the country during her “Fight for Reproductive Freedoms” tour, which had stops in Wisconsin, Arizona, Michigan, Georgia and other critical swing states. In March, she became, it is believed, the first president or vice president to visit a clinic that provides abortion services.
Harris and President Joe Biden frequently highlight protecting abortion access as a centerpiece of their re-election campaign, pointing to Trump's bragging about being able to "kill" Roe v. Wade through his Supreme Court nominations.
During a visit to Phoenix last month, Harris discussed abortion, which has proven to be a particularly mobilizing issue for Democrats.
Since the Arizona Supreme Court decision, the Biden campaign and the Democratic National Committee have highlighted Trump’s abortion politics in a series of new advertisements. On Thursday, the Biden campaign launched a seven-figure ad buy in Arizona about reproductive rights. The DNC also announced a new Arizona billboard campaign slamming Trump’s abortion position.
“Abortion is banned in Arizona thanks to Donald Trump,” the billboard design says. “He won’t stop until it’s banned nationwide. #TrumpsAbortionBan.”
Biden narrowly won Arizona in 2020 with just over 10,000 more votes than Trump, flipping the state blue.
And Arizonans appear to be widely in favor of abortion rights. An NBC News 2022 midterm exit poll found that 62% of Arizona voters said abortion should be legal in all or most cases.
But Trump has indicated he may be taking a softer stance on abortion bans ahead of the 2024 election, when the question of abortion access will be on the ballot in several states. He said Wednesday that the Arizona Supreme Court went too far in its ruling, and he said Monday that abortion decisions should be left to the states.
Abortion access has become a potent political issue after the U.S. Supreme C ourt's 2022 decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization allowed abortion laws to be implemented at the state level. Even in red-leaning states like Ohio, Kansas and Kentucky, voters backed the pro-abortion-rights position when it was put to votes.
Florida, Maryland and New York will have abortion-related measures on the ballot in November, and proposed measures in eight more states, including Arizona, are seeking ballot status. The Biden campaign has said it now sees Florida as "winnable" in November, pointing to how previous elections have shown that "protecting abortion rights is mobilizing a diverse and growing segment of voters to help buoy Democrats up and down the ballot."
Biden has repeatedly said he aims to make the abortion protections afforded by Roe the law of the land. However, he would face a slew of challenges to usher national legislation through Congress.

President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida highlight their continued commitment to HEU minimization during Japan State Visit
WASHINGTON – President Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida welcomed news of the successful removal of all remaining highly enriched uranium (HEU) from the Japan Atomic Energy Agency (JAEA)’s Japan Materials Testing Reactor Critical Assembly (JMTRC). The announcement also highlighted their continued commitment to minimize the use of HEU in civilian applications and reported progress since President Biden’s state visit to Japan in May 2022.
In the two years since President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida announced the removal of HEU from three Japanese sites , the two countries also have removed all HEU from the Kyoto University Critical Assembly and committed to convert the Kindai University Teaching and Research Reactor , Japan’s last remaining HEU-fueled research reactor, to high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) and remove its remaining HEU to the United States.
In December 2023, the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA); Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT); and the JAEA transported the remaining HEU from the JMTRC to the United States. The removal fulfills a commitment made by NNSA Administrator Jill Hruby and MEXT former Deputy Minister Yanagi Takashi in November 2021 and was completed over two years ahead of schedule through the financial support of the Defense Threat Reduction Agency.
“This most recent removal highlights the shared commitment of the United States and Japan’s to minimize highly enriched uranium and the close partnership between our countries,” said Corey Hinderstein, Deputy Administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation. “The Defense Threat Reduction Agency helped our teams achieve this milestone years earlier than would have otherwise been possible.”
The majority of the facility’s HEU was repatriated to the United States between 2003 and 2009 following its decommissioning in 1996. The removal represents years of coordination between NNSA, MEXT, JAEA, and the Y-12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, which provided U.S. technical support for the project and received the HEU upon its arrival in the United States. The HEU will be downblended to low-enriched uranium.
NNSA’s Office of Material Management and Minimization works with partner countries and international institutions around the world to eliminate the need for, presence of, or production of weapons-usable nuclear material. To date, the office has worked jointly with domestic and international partners and successfully converted or verified as shut down 109 research reactors and medical isotope production facilities and removed or confirmed the disposition of over 7,340 kilograms of weapons-usable nuclear material—enough for approximately 328 nuclear weapons.

Today, before a packed auditorium at Moscow State University, Vice President Biden delivered a powerful speech to U.S. and Russian students and business leaders. Echoing messages conveyed during his earlier meetings with Russian President Dimitry Medvedev and Prime Minister Vladimir Putin over the course of his three-day visit, Vice President Biden hailed the successful “reset” of U.S.-Russian relations and reiterated his call for broader economic cooperation between the two countries.

Issuing the strongest support yet for Russia’s entry into the World Trade Organization, the Vice President said,“it’s better for Americans and better for Russians to be able to trade with each other under predictable and transparent rules.”
On the issue of human rights and the status of democracy and the rule of law in Russia – a topic discussed at length in meetings with Russian civil society and political opposition leaders earlier today, the Vice President said: “History showsthat in industrialized societies, economic modernization and political modernization must go hand and hand.”

Yesterday, the Vice President and Dr. Biden visited the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the Alexander Garden. As a military honor guard looked on, the Vice President observed a moment of silence in recognition of the Russian soldiers who died in World War II and ceremonially placed a wreath that read “To those who fell in the fight against fascism, from the American people.”

Later, the Vice President attended a signing ceremony for the sale of Boeing 777 jets to Aeroflot – which will support more than 10,000 jobs at home - in the impressive building of the Moscow School of Management at Skolkovo, an area that Moscow hopes to develop into the Russian equivalent of Silicon Valley. Afterwards, he and Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov led a roundtable discussion with Russian and American business leaders. The Vice President added that beyond negotiations between our governments, the U.S. is also relying on the growing connections between Russian and American business leaders and leaders in civil society to build a comprehensive relationship between the U.S. and Russia.
