Baltic Sea Cruise Highlights

Castles & palaces.

The countries along the Baltic Sea are brimming with historic castles and palaces. Revel in the romance and splendor of these opulent landmarks.

Outdoor Escapes

Kayak the Finnish archipelago surrounding Helsinki, or explore the scenic countryside of Porvoo. Venture to the Malusi islands off the coast of Estonia to spot seals in their natural habitat.

Urban Exploration

The extraordinary cities you’ll visit on a Baltic Sea cruise are brimming with culture, history, and excitement at every turn. Admire the quintessential rust-colored roofs of Tallinn. Denmark Typical Smorrebrod Sandwich

Cured for Hunger

For a tasty lunch in Denmark, you won't have to look far to get a smorrebrod, an open-face sandwich served on one slice of bread rather than two. Sink your teeth into dark-brown, hearty rye bread with savoury slices of cured ham or smoked salmon, with horseradish for an added kick.

Sweden Gooey Chocolate Cake Kladdkaka

Scandinavian Sweets

Enjoy one of the many Scandinavian pastries or desserts: try Sweden's gooey chocolate cake kladdkaka and the Norwegian cinnamon bun kanelboller. Keep an eye out for ice cream flavoured with cloudberries, a local wild berry with a slightly tart bite and a floral sweetness.

Baltic Sea Luxury Cruises

Stockholm. copenhagen. helsinki. tallinn … these fab five trip off the tongue like a who’s who of baltic beauty..

Think cobbled streets filled with jumbles of bicycles, ornate palaces that date back centuries and untamed beauty as far as the eye can see. But more than anything, think of a region where the countries may be close but the cultures a miles apart. Whether you want cathedrals or countryside, our Baltic sea cruises will captivate you.

Cruise calls to Baltic Sea’s eastern ports expected to rise in 2024

The predicted increase was made as part of Cruise Baltic’s newly published Market Review 2024

Cruise calls to Baltic Sea’s eastern ports expected to rise in 2024

Jemina Sormunen

By Laura Hyde | 01 March 2024

Cruise calls to ports in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea region are expected to rise in 2024, according to Cruise Baltic’s Market Review 2024.

Cruise Baltic, a network of 32 ports in the Baltic Sea region, reports the Russia-Ukraine war caused a decrease in the number of calls in the eastern ports, while visits to the western part of the region have increased. In 2024, however, destinations in the eastern Baltic are expecting visits to significantly increase, with Klaipeda Port in Lithuania anticipating the number of calls to grow by 41 per cent, the Port of Gdansk in Poland by 90 per cent and the Port of Turku in Finland by 133 per cent, among others.

“Last year’s situation called for a new and strengthened narrative for our region,” said Klaus Bondam, director of Cruise Baltic. “This, combined with our new strategy, enabled us to redefine and retell the story of the Baltic Sea region. The aim of our work is to support our members and push the positive development in the region in every way we can.”

Cruise Baltic member countries

Cruise Baltic

Cruise Baltic is made up of 32 ports in the Baltic Sea region

Cruise Baltic ports anticipate a four per cent increase in the total number of calls to the region in 2024, with 1,926 cruise calls expected, compared with 2023’s 1,853 calls.

“We’re very pleased with this development and to see the growing interest in several of our destinations,” said Bondam. “Cruise guests are, like all other travellers, on the lookout for new and unique experiences, and by promoting new aspects of our region towards the cruise lines, we stay relevant among our target group.”
