Luke Bryan Announces 2019 Farm Tour Dates

By Joseph Hudak

Joseph Hudak

Luke Bryan will once again bring his live show to small farming communities. The country music star and American Idol judge for the past two seasons has announced dates and towns for his 2019 Farm Tour. The annual fall run will play six cities, kicking off September 26th in Marshall, Wisconsin, at the Statz Bros. Farm. He’ll also visit Richland, Michigan; Pleasantville, Ohio; Louisburg, Kansas; Douglass, Kansas; and Norman, Oklahoma. Opening acts for the tour should be announced in the coming weeks.

The “Knockin’ Boots” singer began Farm Tour in 2009 as a way to raise money and awareness for farmers and farm towns. A portion of the trek’s proceeds typically go toward a college scholarship awarded to students from agricultural families or those who are studying agriculture in school.

The Farm Tour dates are woven in between Bryan’s Sunset Repeat Tour, which plays throughout the summer and wraps up October 25th at Ford Field in Detroit. In 2016 Bryan released the Farm Tour five-song EP Farm Tour … Here’s to the Farmer .

Here are the dates and towns for Luke Bryan’s 2019 Farm Tour. According to a Bryan Instagram post, tickets go on sale next week. September 26 — Marshall, WI @ Statz Bros. Farm September 27 — Richland, MI @ Stafford Farms September 28 — Pleasantville, OH @ Miller Family Farms October 3 — Louisburg, KS @ MC Farms October 4 — Douglass, KS @ Flying B Ranch October 5 — Norman, OK @ Adkins Farm

About Jon Langston    Loganville, GA native, singer-songwriter Jon Langston grew up on music like his heroes Alan Jackson and the Eagles. And once multiple concussions ended his Division I football career, he worked to develop his own style and sound while drawing from that variety of influences. Luke Bryan Announces 2019 Farm Tour Dates

Luke Bryan has announced plans for his 2019 Farm Tour. Once again, the country superstar will perform in rural areas in late September and early October, in between his other 2019 tour stops.

According to an Instagram post from Bryan, his 2019 Farm Tour will begin on Sept. 26 in Marshall, Wisc. Six dates are planned between then and Oct. 5, when the trek will wrap up in Norman, Okla. A full list of stops is below; Bryan has never played at any of the farms he'll visit on this year's tour.

Bryan's Instagram post reports that his 2019 Farm Tour stops will go on sale on June 6 at 10AM local time. Pre-sale tickets will be available for Nut House fan club members and those with Bryan's smartphone app beginning on June 3.

Bryan's Farm Tour celebrated its 10th year in 2018. Since its inception in 2009, the short tour has brought Bryan's big show to small-town fans, and helped the country singer award more than 50 students from farming families in those communities with college scholarships. Bryan himself comes from a farming family.

“The idea behind this tour is to bring full production concerts to small towns that would not see larger scale shows,” Bryan says in a press release. “Growing up in rural Georgia we had to drive to larger cities to see concerts. It is so exciting to watch each of these shows being built like a small city in itself in the empty pasture land of these farms. We can feel the pride from the people in these towns as well as the farmers and it takes everyone coming together to pull them off!!”

In addition to his 2019 Farm Tour shows, Bryan will be on the road this summer and fall for his 2019 Sunset Repeat Tour . The trek features supporting acts  Cole Swindell  and  Jon Langston , along with DJ Rock, and will begin on May 31 in Philadelphia, Pa.

RICHLAND, MI — Thousands of country music fans returned to the small Kalamazoo County community of Richland Thursday, Oct. 24, for a rescheduled concert as part of Luke Bryan's Farm Tour.

The original Sept. 27 show was called off early due to severe weather. Refunds were offered, but many fans instead opted to return to Stafford Farms in Richland Township for a rescheduled date Thursday, Oct. 24.

Many concertgoers gathered to tailgate before opening act Mitchell Tenpenny took the stage.

When it came time for the evening's headliner, Bryan offered a special treat to those returning for the rescheduled show. He played "What She Wants Tonight," a new single released earlier the same day.

He told the crowd, estimated at 16,000 by organizers, that it was a “little gift" to the fans who returned to see him.

One of the biggest stars in country music, Bryan is known for hits "County Girl," "Drunk on You" and "Rain is a Good Thing." His annual Farm Tour shows , first launched in 2009, have drawn more than 100,000 fans.

Luke Bryan Announces Farm Tour 2019 Opening Acts

By Gayle Thompson - July 9, 2019 01:09 pm EDT

Luke Bryan just announced the opening acts for his upcoming Farm Tour, and plenty of fans had correct guesses about which singers would set the stage for Bryan. The Georgia native announced that Cole Swindell , Mitchell Tenpenny , the Peach Pickers and DJ Rock will serve as his opening acts for the tour, which kicks off on Sept. 26.

Bryan teased the announcement on social media, sharing just the silhouette of who would be opening the shows for him, with fans quickly guessing Swindell, Tenpenny and the Peach Pickers.

Bryan had the idea for the Farm Tour, now in its 11th year, when he realized that many people in rural towns didn't have access to the same kind of concerts that fans in big cities did.

"The idea behind this tour is to bring full production concerts to small towns that would not see larger scale shows," Bryan previously said about launching the Farm Tour. "Growing up in rural Georgia we had to drive to larger cities to see concerts. It is so exciting to watch each of these shows being built like a small city in itself in the empty pasture land of these farms. We can feel the pride from the people in these towns as well as the farmers and it takes everyone coming together to pull them off!!"

Bryan definitely has enough on his plate without adding the Farm Tour, but he insists it's too important of a cause for him to skip.

"Farm Tour is just fun to me, and it's something that anytime you can start something that starts small and grow it," said the singer . "We never want to make it this really ginormous thing that we can't control, but we want to make sure it's on our terms and we love doing it. And then we want to make sure that the communities that we partner up with from the sheriff's office to the highway patrol guys to the colleges to the college kids, we want to make sure it's a positive thing at the end of the day for the communities.

"Therefore, that's why we do the scholarships and we hope that we leave these places better than we found 'em, and we hope people continue to want us back," he continued. "And we hope we feel like we're a positive thing for the local economies for these small towns, which wouldn't necessarily have 15, 20-thousand people converging on 'em. I hope it's a positive thing for 'em and not a negative. I enjoy being out there [performing in] the field and playing for the fans."

Proceeds from the Farm Tour go to awarding college scholarships to students from farming families who are attending local colleges or universities in cities near the tour stops. In addition, Bayer is partnering once again with the Farm Tour, with their #HerestotheFarmer campaign. For every hashtag share, Bayer will donate a meal to a hungry American through Feeding America.

Luke Bryan talks Beyoncé, Cowboy Carter and country music's crossover appeal

Luke Bryan is as much a chart-topping country star as he is a steward of Nashville's massive socio-economic boom.

Both his success and Music City's rise to America's next great city-as-homage to the power of the American dollar are driven by a seemingly non-stop party that, at its root, is inspired by either the actuality of or claiming association with the notion that blue-collar labor (or being attached to its stereotypes) is deserving of wild celebration.

The five-time Entertainer of the Year, awarded by the Academy of Country Music and Country Music Association, has released two singles in the first quarter of 2024. There's the Jon Pardi collaboration "Cowboys and Plowboys," plus his solo track "Love You, Miss You, Mean It."

Start the day smarter. Get all the news you need in your inbox each morning.

He spoke with The Tennessean on April 1.

Success breeds opportunity

A decade ago, he achieved a success level similar to Luke Combs via 13 consecutive No. 1 singles on country radio. Fascinatingly, the decade between 2013 and 2023 marks an era when Bryan and Combs' dominance bridged the era between the marketing and selling of physical units and the surge in streaming as the defining success in country music.

Combs, via his Category 10 honky-tonk on Lower Broadway, is at the place that Bryan arrived at after his run of 13 No. 1s in 2019, which led to the opening of his 32 Bridge establishment.

About 32 Bridge's connection to the recent passing of  University of Missouri student Riley Strain , who was found dead on March 22 in the Cumberland River, Bryan maintains his statement from March 14 that the incident was "scary," and the official statement shared one day later by the venue's owners, TC Restaurant Group,

Bryan, however, has surged forward in a manner proportional to the stunning level of pop ubiquity country music stars like Morgan Wallen have achieved via a new level of hit-making prowess — what Luke Bryan did in five years and Luke Combs achieved in three, Wallen has almost matched in 18 months.

"Historically, country music's appeal has been built on hard-working artists humbly making songs that tell their stories to country then, hopefully, mainstream audiences, in the most honest manner possible," Bryan says. "Over the past 20 years, the country and mainstream music industries have recognized that stereotyping the types of artists who (humbly make country songs) limits us in a space where a relevant artist can look and sound like a rapper, Luke Combs, Lainey Wilson, Conway Twitty or Morgan Wallen."

'Country Girl''s impact

He offers a fascinating perspective on country's slow desire to accept mainstream culture's surge into its ranks.

It took three years for his 2011-released single "Country Girl (Shake it for Me)" to become one of the top-five best-selling songs of all time by a male country music solo artist. Given that Nashville is a city famed for adapting to and overcorrecting for mirror trends, the idea that the next three years for Nashville would include the "TomatoGate" scandal, wherein a country radio executive referred to women as the garnishes to the genre's radio formats-as-salad makes sense.

Bryan is willing to accept that country's executives must work harder to broaden the genre again in the fallout from his own rise.

For Bryan, that broadening, including Beyoncé's just-released "Cowboy Carter" album, is "amazing and great."

He doubles down by identifying that artists from outside the genre's stereotypes and traditions, like Jelly Roll and Post Malone, are more in tune with how society interacts with music in a world where streaming's commercial and social impact grows daily.

"The quicker we (as artists and creatives) can intersect, intermingle and work together, stereotypes get removed and we grow and progress as a culture, industry and society," he says.

Maintaining a tireless work ethic

Almost 100 years after economist John Maynard Keynes estimated that technological change and productivity improvements would make a 15-hour, four-day workweek possible, Bryan is perhaps the best person to prove that notion true.

"My kids see me on television, on tours, or before I go fishing and play golf," he says. "They don't understand that meetings, phone calls and Zoom calls are me at work and not just knocking around the house during the day. (My career) is all still very confusing to them."

In 2025, Bryan's "Crash My Playa" festival in Quintana Roo, Mexico, will turn 10 years old, while his "Farm Tour" concept, which aims to create scholarships for students from farming families to attend local community colleges, will have granted almost 100 scholarships in nearly 15 years.

He's entering his third consecutive year hosting the CMA Awards (twice alongside NFL Hall of Famer Peyton Manning). He's also in his seventh season as a celebrity judge on ABC's "American Idol."

Notably, 2021 "Idol" winner Chayce Beckham has been incubated as a mainstream country talent, opening for Bryan for the past three years. That work has led to Beckham's nearly 3-year-old single "23" finally topping country's radio charts.

Beckham joins Carrie Underwood as an "American Idol"-winning country star who achieved chart-topping success on their mainstream debuts after their victories.

"As long as the show feels like it's fresh, fun and reinventing itself, plus developing artists who can break into music successfully, then I won't feel like I'm spinning my wheels by remaining" on ('American Idol')," Bryan says.

Not entirely content there, an afternoon spent golfing with emerging country star ERNEST and joking about the performer's friendship with unlikely breakout crossover star Jelly Roll earned him a songwriting credit — and music video appearance — in ERNEST and Jelly Roll's duet "I Went to College / I Went to Jail."

Maintaining relevancy

Bryan is also keenly aware that an era that saw him and Jason Aldean achieve nearly 60 No. 1 singles in 20 years has evolved. Now, the music industry's broad democratization allows artists to be mainstream, underground and almost solely radio, streaming, or touring-friendly in their approach to success.

"Gaining the eyeballs to make people take notice of your artistry," as Bryan says, is a much more difficult road than ever before.

But it's also one that, for Bryan, feels very familiar and why he became an artist in the first place.

Bryan is now a 47-year-old father of teenagers with similarly aged nieces and nephews. Notably, the artists he's championing on the road include 20-something country artists like Ashley Cooke, the previously mentioned Beckham, Jackson Dean, Kameron Marlowe and Alana Springsteen.

"I'm nurturing where younger artists are at in the infancy of their careers and helping them navigate the anticipation of watching a single go up the charts," says Bryan, who fondly recalls his days opening for Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney and Tim McGraw almost 20 years ago.

"Paying it forward is pretty special stuff," Bryan says. "Diving in there and getting artists ready to hopefully mirror the type of success I've had as classy and savvy artists with integrity is important."

He then pauses as his career and what's next come into a full-circle focus.

"Just like I did when I was a teenager, my son thinks he's sneaking off and listening to rap songs," Bryan says, "but just like I did, those songs, along with say Alan Jackson songs, are the songs that speak most directly to who I am uniquely, living my life. No matter how country music develops, it's a genre that can, by being built on authentic, natural songs, break molds and make people mad. But it also welcomes so many more people who want to smile and have fun.

"I wasn't a naturally gifted performer. I've grown from being all over the map, from being a singer in bars in Statesboro, Georgia, to being a focused, high-level professional recording artist. Because of that focus, I've been able to avoid un-inventing and reinventing (my art and brand). I still feel as inspired and relevant to everything happening at all levels of the music industry as I've ever been."

Luke Bryan has revealed the real reason is eyes often look red , and it’s got nothing to do with “smoking pot.”

While appearing on Audacy’s  Totally Private , the American Idol judge opened up about his unique allergy to bass, which has often led people to assume he’s been dabbling with marijuana. “Just so we know, if I do interviews and I look like I’ve been smoking pot, that’s not true. I’ve been catching bass,” he said, noting that he’d done so the day of the interview. The allergy, which he’s dealt with his whole life, is particularly inconvenient for Bryan, as fishing is one of his main passions.

“If I touch a bass, my eyes will get red, my hands will swell if I have to take the hook out,” he explained. Despite the discomfort he experiences, Bryan does not let the allergy stop him from doing what he loves. “I’ll get in front of it. I’m like, ‘I know I’m going to fish today,’ so I’ll take an Allegra in the morning,” he added.

The country star grew up fishing with his dad in Leesburg, Georgia, but didn’t realize he had an allergy to bass until he was an adult. “My dad would take me on these fishing trips, and I would be in the back of the boat like wheezing, maybe in need of an EpiPen,” he recalled. “My Dad was just like, [‘Suck it up,’] we just thought it was allergies [to] like, the trees, but it’s actually touching the bass.” Bryan also noted that his allergy is to all sunfish, which includes bass, shellcrackers, breams and other types of fish native to North America. “Any of those things, they wipe me out pretty good,” he said of the fishes that trigger an allergic reaction.

Fishing is something Bryan now does with his own sons, Thomas “Bo” Boyer and Tatum “Tate” Christopher. The “One Margarita” singer frequently posts about their father-son fishing trips on social media and has spoken about their shared passion at length. While appearing on Audacy’s  Rob + Holly  podcast in January 2024, Bryan revealed that his sons want to follow in his footsteps and go on an Amazon fishing trip, which the singer has taken by himself.

“It’s all about including the family on these things too. I’ve got a lot of crazy little things that we’ll try to check off the list as a family. I’ve done a really, really great job of brainwashing [my] children into doing exactly what I like to do,” he said.

Both Bo and Tate have caught 10 pound fishes, an accomplishment the proud dad has boasted about on Instagram. “Took me 45 years to break 10 pounds. Tate did it in 12,” Bryan wrote alongside a February 2023 video of Tate jumping up and down in excitement after his fish was weighed. Bryan posted about his eldest son Bo’s feat in May 2023, captioning a photo of the two of them holding Bo’s fish: “Bo Bryan. Welcome to the 10 pound club.”

Between his fishing trips and American Idol, which he’s served as a judge on since 2018, Bryan is very busy. He still makes time for his music, though, and will be hitting the road for his Mind of a Country Boy Tour on April 17. The tour runs until September and will feature a handful of special guests, including Bailey Zimmerman, Chayce Beckham, Kameron Marlowe, Tracy Lawrence, Alana Springsteen, Chase Matthew, Dillon Carmichael, DJ Rock and Ella Langley, among many others.

Season 22 of American Idol airs on Sundays on ABC at 8 p.m. EST and streams on Hulu .

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom

<p>Pop singer Katy Perry joined as an <em>American Idol</em> judge when the show was rebooted in March 2018 on ABC. Perry is currently engaged to <em>Pirates of the Caribbean</em> actor Orlando Bloom. The couple met at the Golden Globes in 2016 and got engaged three years later in 2019.  “It was very sweet,” Perry said about the engagement to Jimmy Kimmel, according to <em><a href="https://people.com/music/katy-perry-reveals-details-orlando-bloom-proposal/" target="_blank">People</a></em>. “It was Valentine’s Day … we went to dinner and I thought we were going to go see some art after dinner but we pulled up to a helicopter.”</p> <p>Although the pair had to postpone their nuptials because of the COVID pandemic, in August 2020, Perry and Bloom became first-time parents when they welcomed their baby girl, Daisy Dove Bloom, into the world.</p>

Luke Bryan and Caroline Bryan

<p>Bryan also became a judge on <em>American Idol</em> for the ABC reboot in 2018. The country singer has been married to his wife, Caroline Bryan, for almost two decades. The couple met at Georgia Southern University and tied the knot in 2006. “Happy 17 years together love. I love you @linabryan3,” Bryan <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/C0mWidXrOsM/?hl=en" target="_blank">captioned his reel</a> on Instagram, which is set to the track “(I’ve Had) the Time of My Life” by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes.</p> <p>Luke and Caroline are the proud parents to their sons Tate (age 13) and Bo (age 15). In the singer’s <em>People’s</em> August 2023 <a href="https://people.com/luke-bryan-proud-of-his-climb-success-exclusive-7571501" target="_blank">cover story</a>, he gave fans an inside scoop on their family life. “Our house is full of a lot of energy and a lot of people coming in and out and friends and family. My wife’s brother and his two young children are in the pool every day, learning to swim,” he said. “My wife and I are always looking out the window going, ‘Whose vehicle is that driving through the farm?’”</p>

Lionel Richie and Lisa Parigi

<p>Luke Bryan and Perry, Lionel Richie also became an <em>American Idol</em> judge in 2018. The singer-songwriter and producer was formerly married to his high school sweetheart  Brenda Harvey-Richie from 1975 to 1993, with whom he adopted his daughter, actress and fashion designer Nicole Richie. Richie remarried in 1995 to actress Diane Alexander. Their marriage lasted nine years, and the couple welcomed their kids, Sofia Richie and Miles Richie. However, Richie and Alexander’s marriage also ended in divorce in 2004.</p> <p>The music vet is currently in a relationship with his longtime girlfriend, Lisa Parigi, who is 40 years his junior. “I’m a man who’s been through the ups and the downs, the ins and the outs of love,” Richie told <a href="https://people.com/music/lionel-richie-talks-girlfriend-lisa-parigi/" target="_blank"><em>People</em></a>, adding that he is still a “hopeless romantic.” As for Parigi, he said: “She’s extremely beautiful, but most importantly she’s smart and helps me deal with my crazy world.”</p>

Simon Cowell and Lauren Silverman

<p>As one of <em>American Idol’s</em> original judges, Simon Cowell was on the panel from seasons one through eight. The British record executive (who created the <em>Got Talent </em>franchise) has been with his now-fiancé Lauren Silverman since 2013. The couple share a 10-year-old son, Eric, and got engaged in December 2021. In an April 2022 interview with <em><a href="https://www.thesun.co.uk/tv/18211470/simon-cowell-married-bored/">The Sun</a></em>, Cowell revealed that Eric was part of the reason why he proposed to Silverman. </p> <p>“I’ve kind of felt myself engaged for a long time, if I’m really being honest,” he said. “Lockdown and COVID were probably make or break for many relationships. We were in the same house for over a year and I thought, ‘Well, actually, we get on really, really well.’” He continued, “And for Eric, as he gets older, he will be asked more and more about his parents, and I thought it was the right thing to do for him.”</p>

Paula Abdul and JT Torregiani

<p>Singer and dancer Paula Abdul acted as an <em>American Idol</em> judge for seven years alongside Simon Cowell and Randy Jackson. The “Opposites Attract” singer’s first marriage was to actor Emilio Estevez (<em>The Breakfast Club, The Mighty Ducks</em>). The couple were married from 1992 until their divorce in 1994. Two years later, Abdul tied the knot with businessman Brad Beckerman in 1998, but their marriage lasted only 16 months.</p> <p>The former <em>Idol</em> judge was last linked romantically to her on-again-off-again boyfriend, restaurateur JT Torregiani. The pair first started dating back in 2007. “She is more nurturing than most women I know, let alone women I have dated. She has such a big heart and even with her crazy work schedule, she always makes time for me,” Torregian said in an interview with <a href="https://okmagazine.com/news/ok-exclusive-jt-torregiani-gushes-about-girlfriend-paula-abdul/" target="_blank"><em>OK! Magazine</em></a> at the time. Abdul’s relationship with JT ended soon after, and he dated former <em>Dancing With the Stars</em> dancer Cheryl Burke. However, he and Paula reportedly started seeing each other again toward the end of 2020.</p>

Randy Jackson and Simone

<p>Randy Jackson was a judge on <em>American Idol</em> from Season 1 until his exit after Season 12 in 2013. The music executive’s first marriage was to Elizabeth Jackson, but their relationship ended in 1990 (they have one daughter named Taylor). </p> <p>Jackson’s second marriage to Erika Riker lasted 18 years, but their relationship also ended in divorce. In 2014, Riker filed to divorce the <em>American Idol</em> judge, citing “irreconcilable differences.” They share two children together: Zoe and Jordan. “Randy is bummed out,” a source told <a href="https://people.com/music/randy-jackson-settles-divorce-four-years-later-erika-riker/" target="_blank"><em>People</em></a> when their divorce was finalized. “It’s not the way he wanted it to happen or end.”</p> <p>In 2019, Jackson stepped out with his <a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-6608393/Randy-Jackson-62-makes-appearance-musician-girlfriend-Simone-27.html" target="_blank">reported</a> musician girlfriend, Simone, after finalizing his divorce from his ex-wife. It’s unknown whether Jackson and Simone are still seeing each other.</p>

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

<p>Jennifer Lopez was a judge in the singing competition from Season 10 and Season 11, then again from Seasons 13 to 15. Lopez was previously married to Ojani Noa from 1997 to 1998, Cris Judd from 2001 to 2003 and Marc Anthony, with whom she shares twins Max and Emme, from 2004 to 2014. The pop icon was also engaged to Alex Rodriguez in 2019 before they ended their relationship in 2021.</p> <p>J.Lo’s most recent marriage is with actor Ben Affleck (with whom she was previously engaged from 2002 to 2004). In May 2023, Affleck and Lopez started seeing each other, and <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/ben-affleck-jennifer-lopez-full-on-dating-after-reunion/" target="_blank"><em>Us Magazine</em></a> confirmed that the pair were back together. The couple became engaged for the second time in April 2022 and wed in July 2022 in Las Vegas.</p> <p>The couple followed their Las Vegas nuptials with a three-day wedding at Affleck’s estate in Riceboro, Georgia. “The sun broke free and cast its rays like little diamonds dancing across the river behind the makeshift altar in our backyard,” Lopez recalled about her wedding day in her “On The J Lo” newsletter, per <a href="https://www.elle.com/uk/life-and-culture/culture/a40636562/jennifer-lopez-ben-affleck-wedding-las-vegas/"><em>Elle UK</em></a>. “’I started my walk down the stairs that would become the aisle that would lead me toward the rest of my life. Ahhhhh…it was actually happening…”</p>

Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman

<p>Keith Urban judged <em>American Idol</em> from Seasons 12 to 15. He’s married to Australian actress Nicole Kidman. The beloved pair first met at a gala in 2005 and tied the knot the following year in a candlelit ceremony at St. Patrick’s Estate in Sydney, Australia. “She’s just the one,” Urban said on Dax Shepard’s podcast, <a href="https://armchairexpertpod.com/pods/keith-urban" target="_blank"><em>Armchair Expert</em></a>. “She’s the one that I was searching for my whole life, and everything not only changed but had to change in me if I was gonna go that road.” The pair have two daughters, Sunday Rose (age 15) and Faith (age 13).</p> <p>In 2018, Kidman shared the secret of her and Keith’s long-lasting marriage. “I think it’s knowing that you have to keep contributing to what we call the ‘us.’ You go, ‘Does this work for us?’” the <em>Big Little Lies</em> actress told <a href="https://people.com/movies/nicole-kidman-reveals-secret-12-year-marriage-keith-urban/" target="_blank"><em>People</em></a> in 2018. “When you make an us, it’s yours together — that’s what you create. Nobody else has that. It’s just between the two of you.”</p>

Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty

<p>Nicki Minaj was on the judging panel in Season 12 of <em>American Idol</em> alongside Mariah Carey, Keith Urban, and Randy Jackson. The rapper is married to Kenneth Petty; the pair met when they were students in high school but lost touch before reconnecting in 2018. The two welcomed their first child (nicknamed Papa Bear) nearly a year after they tied the knot in October 2019. </p> <p>“He understands her as a person,” said Derrick Milano, Minaj’s friend and musician, to <a href="https://people.com/music/who-is-kenneth-petty-nicki-minaj-husband/#:~:text=Minaj%20and%20Petty%20wed%20in,told%20PEOPLE%20in%20October%202019." target="_blank"><em>People</em></a> in October 2019. “I think that’s what the connection really is with them — it’s that he really knows her. It’s a different type of connection. He’s not famous, he doesn’t want to be on Instagram. Like, that’s not his M.O. He’s really focused on her.”</p>

Steven Tyler

<p>The Aerosmith singer was a judge of <em>American Idol</em> in Seasons 10 and 11. His first wife was model Cyrinda Foxe, whom he married in 1978 after kicking off with Aerosmith. The couple had their daughter, Mia Tyler, in 1978. Their marriage ended in 1987 (Cyrinda passed away from a brain tumor in 2002). Tyler was married again to Teresa Barrick in 1988 and had their daughter, Chelsea Tyler, one year after, as well as their son, Taj Tyler, in 1991. The couple divorced in 2005.</p> <p>Tyler is currently dating his girlfriend, Aimee Preston, who is 39 years younger than the rock star. Preston started as his personal assistant in 2012, but they made their relationship official at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Oscar viewing party in 2016. “I guess Mother Nature had other plans for us today…so ❤️ Happy Valentining ❤️ from us to you! @iamstevent,” Preston <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Bt39Sf8hjSe/?hl=en" target="_blank">captioned</a> her Valentine’s Day post with the singer in 2019.</p>

Kara DioGuardi and Mike McCuddy

<p>Songwriter and music publisher Kara DioGuardi served as a judge of <em>American Idol</em> in Seasons 8 and 9 of the singing competition. DioGuardi started dating her husband Mike McCuddy, a teacher-turned-general contractor, in 2007 while he was working on a home near her property in Maine. The pair got engaged in December 2008 and married in July 2009 in Prospect Harbor, Maine.</p> <p>The music exec and her husband had their son, Greyson James Carroll McCuddy, via surrogate in January 2013. The exciting news of their son’s birth followed years of miscarriages and failed IVF attempts. “She’s given us an incredible gift,” DioGuardi told <em><a href="https://people.com/parents/american-idol-kara-dioguardi-welcomes-son/" target="_blank">People</a> </em>at the time.</p>

Ellen DeGeneres and Portia De Ross

<p>Comedian and talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres judged only one season of <em>American Idol</em> in 2010. DeGeneres is married to her longtime wife, Portia De Rossi. The pair tied the knot at their Beverly Hills estate in 2008 and celebrated their 15th wedding anniversary in August 2023.</p> <p>Ellen penned a sweet tribute to her wife on Instagram. “To my wife of 15 years I fall more in love with you every day,” she <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/CwApYg4rElL/" target="_blank">captioned the post</a>. “My life is blessed because you’re in it. Happy anniversary.” De Rossi also surprised DeGenerous with a vow renewal earlier this year; Brandi Carlile sang and Kris Jenner officiated the ceremony.</p>

Mariah Carey and Bryan Tanaka

<p>Mariah Carey also served as a judge for only one season of the singing show, Season 12. The “All I Want For Christmas Is You” singer has been married twice. Her first husband was music executive Tommy Mottola. The pair married in 1993 when Carey was 23 years old, but split five years later.</p> <p>She walked down the aisle again in 2008 when the pop star married actor and comedian Nick Cannon. Carey and Cannon welcomed twins Moroccan and Monroe in 2011 and separated in December 2014. Their divorce was finalized in 2016.</p> <p>The <em>Butterfly </em>artist was last romantically linked to her ex-boyfriend Bryan Tanaka. Carey and Tanaka dated on and off for seven years before breaking up for good in December 2023. “Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared,” Tanaka wrote via Instagram, according to <a href="https://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/bryan-tanaka-confirms-split-from-mariah-carey-after-7-years/" target="_blank"><em>Us Weekly</em></a>. “The memories we’ve created and the artistic collaborations are etched in my heart forever.”</p>

Katy Perry Reveals "Amazing" Singer She Wants to Replace Her on American Idol

As katy perry wraps up her final season on american idol , she exclusively told e news who she'd like to replace her at the judges' table alongside luke bryan and lionel richie..

Dim the lights, Katy Perry  has a pitch for American Idol .

The "Firework" singer, who is set to leave the ABC competition series after this season, recently revealed who she'd like to see join Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan at the judges' table.

"I gotta say Jelly Roll  was crazy when he came on the show," Katy told E! News  after American Idol 's April 15 live show. "I was convinced at anything he said. He could run for president, he could be my pastor, I might go back to church for him. He could sell me anything."

"So I love him," she noted of the "Wild Ones" artist, who recently appeared on the April 8 episode of Idol . "And to have any of these guys plus Jelly on the show would be amazing. I love you, Jelly!" (For more Idol interviews, watch E! News April 16.)

When it comes down to it, Perry just wants her replacement to speak their mind.

"I want a truth teller," she added. "I want someone that is not afraid to tell the truth in a graceful way."

Plus, the future judge needs to be someone who "doesn't read the comments" from haters online.

As the "Hot N Cold" artist knows all too well, "Unfortunately, when you're a woman and you have an opinion or you're a boss, sometimes you're also considered a B-I-T-C-[H]…so just someone that has a strong sense of self, that listens to their intuition."

And check out American Idol Sunday, April 21, at 8 p.m. on ABC.

—Reporting by Monica Fink

The mom of River and Remy has come a long way since experiencing a moment like this on the inaugural season of American Idol  in 2002. The New York resident has collected three Grammys and counting (with her latest disc, Chemistry , up for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 2024 Grammys ), notched three No. 1 hits, starred on NBC's The Voice as a judge and is now hosting her own award-winning daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show .

The season two runner-up made two big reveals in September 2008—annoucing that the birth of his son Parker (with his close friend, music produer Jaymes Foster ) inspired him to come out. "I can't raise a kid and teach him how to lie, teach him to hide things," he reasoned on Good Morning America . "And at the same time, I also don't ever want to raise him in an environment where it's not OK for him to be exactly who he is, no matter what." Since then, the famous red-head switched from music to politics, even making a run for Congress in 2016. After losing in the election, the singer released a documentary about his journey. But he hasn't totally left music in the rearview, announcing his plans to tour with season two champ Ruben Studdard in 2024.

Before being dumped by his record label (along with season five champ Taylor Hicks ) in early 2008, the Velvet Teddy Bear scored a Grammy nomination and released a handful of successful albums. Then, in 2013, the singer starred as one of the contestants on The Biggest Loser  and quickly became a fan-favorite. He was eliminated twice , but took away valuable lessons from the show. And while he and Clay remain tight, he found his forever partner in wife Kristin , who will welcome their second child in 2024.

Truth is, the season three champion is grateful for every step of her journey. "We go through things, you fall, you get back up," she shared with E! News in December. And though she's weathered some tough moments, "For me, losing everything twice, having to fight to get back here, it feels good."  Her latest high notes include welcoming daughter Keziah with husband Kendall Taylor in 2021 and receiving a Golden Globe nod for The Color Purple remake. Said the North Carolina native, also mom to 22-year-old daughter Zion , "I want to enjoy this and know that I worked hard to get here."

She may not have won season three, but we are telling you the musician made up for it: First an Oscar for 2006's Dreamgirls , then a Grammy for her performance The Color Purple musical adaption in 2017, plus a stint as a judge on The Voice . The latest project for the mom to David , 14: Her own eponymous talk show .

From the moment she stepped onto the Idol stage, Underwood cemented her place in pop culture. Sure enough, not only did she win season four, but she's also gone on to become country music's reigning princess. She went on to co-host the CMA Awards for more than 10 years with fellow artist, Brad Paisley . And between balancing her music career with her hosting duties, the "Jesus Take The Wheel Singer" is a mom to her two sons with retired NHL center Mike Fisher .

The season four runner-up is now married with three boys and a girl . Despite suffering serious health problems in 2006, the Southern rocker has released three hit albums since his stint on Idol.

Constantine Maroulis

With his big hair and even bigger voice (who can forget his rousing rendition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" during season four?), Constantine was a perfect fit for Broadway's  Rock of Ages , for which he earned a Tony nom. Currently touring with his single "Comeback," the dad to 13-year-old  Malena is also starring in Broadway's Rock & Roll Man .

After his season-five victory, the silver fox's eponymous album went platinum and he starred in a Broadway production of Grease . In more recent years, he has made the switch from music to TV as a host of a show called  State-Plate , which focuses on the premise of farm-to-table eating. Though he remains committed to his first love, with a slate of tour dates set for January 2024.

Long before Bieber fever, there was McPheever, which has helped Katharine land both singing and acting work, most notably in the Broadway-inspired show Smash and the drama Scorpion . Wed to David Foster since 2019, she is now mom to musically-inclined son Rennie . "I would love for him to follow in his dad's footsteps and just be really well-versed in all different types of musical instruments," Katharine told E! News . "Obviously, he's 2-and-a-half. We're not pushing him. We're just letting him do his thing. But, I would love for him to have a working understanding of all instruments a lot like his dad. I think he's on his way—that's for sure."

Elliott Yamin

After  American Idol , the season five finalist, who had a hit with the song "Wait for You," went to Angola where he worked alongside former Idol judge Kara DioGuardi to raise awareness for Malaria No More. Elliott also made news in 2010 after experiencing Chile's earthquake and living to tweet about it. Still making music, he shares daughter Camilla , 3, with Karen Cruz .

While the country music singer finished sixth on the fifth season of American Idol , she has starred in Hallmark's Christmas in Graceland and earned three Daytime Emmy nods for her TV show Pickler & Ben . Following husband Kyle Jacobs death by suicide in February 2023, she's been reflecting on their years together. "One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don't know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,'" Pickler told  People in an interview published this past August. "I have chosen to heed his advice."

As the youngest ever winner, the season six champ set off some serious, well, sparks in 2007. Her Battlefield tour took her to 35 cities around the U.S., and (if that wasn't enough), she made her Broadway debut in 2010, starring in the musical In the Heights . Her success and good fortune has continued, with the star giving birth  to her first son with husband Dana Isaiah in May of 2018.  In the years since, she made an emotional return to Idol and competed on the 31st season of Dancing With the Stars .

The season seven winner's big hit "Time of My Life" may reflect his singing success, but the title could just as easily apply to his endeavors offstage. David visited Ethiopia in 2010 on behalf of the United Nations' efforts to empower women in that country. He also ran in the Race for Hope in D.C. to raise money for brain cancer research in honor of his brother Adam , who lost his fight with the disease in 2009. Married to Racheal Stump since 2015, the still-touring musician released his latest single "TABOS" in 2022.

After finishing in second place to his fellow David on season seven, the singer embarked on a two-year mission for the Church of the Latter Day Saint's in Chile. Since his  return in 2014  he has continued performing. He came out as member of the LGBTQ+ community in June 2021. "It’s been a beautiful journey learning to accept myself," he shared on Instagram in October, "and I hope just by living my life now I can encourage many of you out there to do the same."

Nearly eclipsed in the media spotlight by his runner-up, Adam Lambert , the season eight champ has enjoyed quiet success with his self-titled second album. Released in November 2009, it debuted at no. 11 on the Billboard 200, and one of its singles, "I Need to Know," was featured on an episode of The Vampire Diaries.  In the meantime, the star has been growing his family, having welcomed three children with his high school sweetheart  Katy O'Connell .

If publicity were a prize, the eighth season's controversial runner-up is a grand-slam winner. Since his time on the reality show, he's released several albums, headlined tours, received countless nominations (including a Grammy nod), followed in Freddie Mercury 's footsteps touring as the frontman for Queen and has even starred in Fox's remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show . Not to forget that he briefly filled in as a guest judge on  Idol . The singer also helped open up the 2019 Oscars with a performance of "We Will Rock You" and "We Are the Champions."

After season 8 of American Idol ,   Gokey got married to his now-wife Leyicet Peralta in 2012, and the pair have four children together.

As a three-time Grammy nominee, he released a Christian music album titled Jesus People in 2021. He also has an eyewear brand named Danny Gokey Eyewear.

After joining the top 10 finalists' summer tour in 2010, the season nine winner launched his solo music career . Lee also married model-actress   Jonna Walsh in 2012 after they met on the set of his first music video following Idol . Nowadays, the star is a well-established singer-songwriter , with his tracks making it onto shows like  The Walking Dead .

Crystal Bowersox

Runner-up to Lee DeWyze in season nine, the Janis Joplin -esque rocker married musician Brian Walker and released her first album, Farmer's Daughter , in December 2010. She lost her label deal when RCA disbanded Arista, J Records and Jive Records, but she made her acting debut on the second season of ABC's Body of Proof . In May 2013, the singer split from her husband. After her divorce she told  The Boot   that her second album All That For Thi s was "the next chapter of my life." The mom of two has since released 2017's Alive and 2022's HitchHiker .

Scotty McCreery

The season 10 winner was the first Idol champ since Ruben to have his first album, Clear as Day , debut at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. He was named New Artist of the Year at the 2011 American Country Awards and sang the national anthem before Game 1 of the World Series that same year. In June 2018, the "This Is It" and "Five More Minutes" singer married longtime girlfriend  Gabi Dugal . They welcomed son Avery in October 2022.

The country darling finished second to Scotty, but she got her record deal and released her studio debut, Wildflower , in October 2011. Following her time on Idol , the singer presented with Scotty at the 2011 CMT Music Awards, made her Grand Ole Opry debut and even performed with Martina McBride at the CMA Music Festival. In 2017, she got her first nod from the CMAs when she was nominated for Best New Artist following her success with her album, Road Less Traveled . She even made her move to the big screen when she starred in a film of the same name. The "Thicc As Thieves" singer revealed her engagement to Cam Arnold while performing at the Grand Ole Opry in November 2022.

The season 10 contestant only finished sixth—and that was partly because the judges used their one save of the season five weeks beforehand—but he was a cult fave. He performed on the Idols Live tour, cut a cover of "Baby, It's Cold Outside" with fellow finalist (and rumored flame) Haley Reinhart , and ultimately signed with jazz label Concord. His self-titled debut album was released in 2012, and was followed by 2018's I Put A Spell On You and 2019's Jazz .

Sure, he was cut before the live voting rounds in season 10, but Allen has since released two consecutive No. 1 hits with 2018's "Best Shot" and "Make Me Want To" and won the 2021 Country Music Association Award for New Artist of the Year. In April 2023, he and wife Alexis Allen announced that they were expecting their third child and ending their two-year marriage. Nearly a month later, Jimmie was accused of sexual assault and abuse by his former manager in a lawsuit. Though the musician admitted to being unfaithful, publicly apologizing to Alexis "for humiliating her with my affair," he denied the sexual misconduct allegations and said the relationship with his former manager was a "consensual" one.  Shortly after welcoming son Cohen Ace James in September, the couple revealed they were trying to repair their union .

After his season 11 win, the musician rose to the top of the charts with his hit single, "Home," which also served as a theme song for NBC's coverage of the 2012 Summer Olympics. He released his latest album, Drift Back this past June. In 2015, he married his girlfriend,  Hannah Blackwell , in a small ceremony while surrounded by his family and friends. Four years later, they welcomed their first child together, a son named Patch .

Maddie Poppe

"There is a lot of different sounding songs on the album," the season 16 winner teased to E! News ahead of releasing the appropriately named Whirlwind in 2019, a year after her Idol victory. "I can't pick just one [sound] to stick with because I really love them all so much and it's hard to stay in one vein."  Her latest single, 2023's "SOS I'm In Love" has a strong POV, though. Because she is, by the way, revealing her romance with musician Gabe Burdulis after her split from season 16 runner-up Caleb Lee Hutchinson .

Caleb Lee Hutchinson

Since becoming the runner-up of season 16, the singer has focused on releasing new music and enjoying life's opportunities that come with appearing on the ABC series. "I've always loved music and I've always wanted to be an artist," Caleb Lee shared with E! News. "But I learned so much about entertainment. I got to go to Luke Bryan 's last show for his tour and I got to come out and sing a song with him." He released his latest disc, Southern Galactic in November.

After coming in third on season 16 of Idol , the "I Hope" country singer focused on finishing her album. "I'm excited to play Stagecoach. And touring with Brad Paisley is the cherry on top to everything," she told E! News. "It's crazy to go on tour with him." Nearly two years after she and fellow alum Cade Foehner welcomed their first baby together , daughter Baylah , they added son Augustine to the mix in October 2022. This past August, she revealed she was expecting their third child .

Luke Combs crushes 2024 stadium concert tour kickoff at Milwaukee's American Family Field

luke bryan tour 2019

Luke Combs took to the stage in Milwaukee Friday like a bear roaring out of hibernation.

"First show back in five months — here we go," the country superstar cheered after the third song for the kickoff of his "Growin' Up and Gettin' Old Tour" at American Family Field. The tour's second show, for the only the second time in the city's stadium concert history, includes another night at the Milwaukee Brewers' ballpark Saturday.

Combs clearly relished being back in tour mode, roaming all over the stage and runways, crooning and belting until his face turned heirloom-tomato red for show starters "Must've Never Met You," "She Got the Best of Me" and "Lovin' On You" — the latter two among 13 No. 1 Billboard Country Airplay chart-toppers that made Friday's 27-song setlist.

But I'd wager there were a whole lot of Combs fans in Milwaukee Friday who were more excited for this show than he was.

The full-volume singalongs were Exhibit A in that argument, but some historical context is important.

Milwaukee is spoiled by the sheer volume of country A-listers who routinely come to town (Dan + Shay were here last week, and Tim McGraw is going to be here next week). Combs, too, came through early in his career for three shows at the Rave and the late Northern Lights Theater; he also opened for Blake Shelton at Summerfest in 2018 and made a Farm Aid appearance at Alpine Valley Music Theatre in 2019.

But that's it. As his trophy case filled up, as the hits kept coming, as he moved on up to stadium headliner status, Combs — very much still at the top of the A-list with a leading eight ACM Award nominations announced this week — had yet to do a major Milwaukee headlining show.

Until this weekend, when he rewarded Milwaukee fans' patience with an impassioned, hits-loaded show and a couple of custom nods to the city — from the blue Brewers ballcap that served as the signature piece of his humble concert ensemble to the lyrical swaps of "Milwaukee" into a handful of songs. That didn't quite work as a sub for Panama as he sang about deep sea fishing for "When It Rains It Pours" Friday — but the cheering crowd made it clear the gesture was appreciated.

And the Milwaukee fans adored the beer-centric portion of Friday's program. Fans got to vote for one of three songs via text to make the setlist Friday, and "Beer Can" beat out "Don't Tempt Me" and "Memories Are Made Of." He paid his respects to hometown favorite Miller Brewing — possibly displeasing any American Family Insurance execs in the crowd when he suggested he still thought of the Milwaukee Brewers stadium as Miller Park — and shotgunned a can of Miller Lite during "1, 2 Many."

And of all the big hits Combs played Friday night, "Beer Never Broke My Heart" had one of the most heartfelt singalongs.

That, and his cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car." The biggest hit of his career, Combs' take is pretty straightforward, letting Chapman's beautiful lyrics and melodies lead the way. But there's still clearly something special about his version, isn't there?

It's the same thing, Friday's show indicated, that has made Combs' such a superstar.

As a songwriter, as a storyteller, he's as polished as any of his peers in heavy rotation on country radio. But there's more soul and vulnerability in his voice, with just a touch of grit, than most of his centrist country star contemporaries.

So Combs, a back-to-back CMA Awards Entertainer of the Year recipient, was as expected a likable, stadium-electrifying party host.

But his ability to make the stadium filled with 41,000 to 44,000 feel small, to make songs feel personal in that space, that was his greatest strength Friday — whether he was crooning "This One's for You" alone on electric guitar while his seven-piece band took a breather, or tenderly belting "Better Together" accompanied by pretty melodies on a piano.

But the most intimate and moving stretch of the night included "Love You Anyway," "Forever After All" and "Beautiful Crazy," which Combs said were inspired by his wife Nicole Hocking, who was in attendance Friday. Combs prefaced the song singing her praises, including how she helped him with his daily anxieties — and expressed remorse for missing the birth of their second son last year while he was on tour in Australia. Calling it the best and worst day of his life, Combs choked up, took a beat, and wiped tears from his eyes. And then he poured all the emotion, all the gratitude that he felt in that highly vulnerable moment into those songs.

As the show hit the hour-and-50-minute mark Friday, and Combs more than earned the right to head backstage for some family time, he struggled to peel himself away from the stage.

Nine minutes after Combs sang the final lyrics of the night's final song, "The Kind of Love We Make," the seats across the stadium were largely empty. But the pit was still full of fans, and Combs was still on that stage, signing autograph after autograph after autograph.

Cody Jinks, Charles Wesley Godwin and the Wilder Blue opened Friday night's Luke Combs concert

Cody Jinks was a standout at the Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival in Veterans Park last summer , fueled by a hellbent desire to win over the crowd as the event’s lone country act. As the primary opener Friday at a big ol' country show, that kind of pressure was off. And, consequently, Jinks’ fire didn’t burn as brightly, despite solid renditions of tunes like “Fast Hand” and “Mamma Song” aided by a honky-tonk-tuned band.

Immediately winning points with a customized Brew Crew jersey, singer-songwriter Charles Wesley Godwin turned out to be the most animated of Friday's openers, storming the catwalk and banging his head for “Hardwood Floors.” But even in “stadium mode,” Godwin brought intimacy and tenderness to tearjerkers like “Miner Imperfections,” which he dedicated to his father. Godwin may not be at the level of his good friend Zach Bryan yet ( who he opened for at Summerfest last year ), with stadiums full of people mesmerized by every word, but Friday’s set suggested it could be in the cards. Next up for Godwin in Milwaukee: a headlining set at Summerfest’s Briggs & Stratton Big Backyard June 28, which could prove to be too small a stage for his fanbase.

Alt-country act the Wilder Blue started off the night with a gentle but effective rendition of the national anthem, then kept things mellow for Eagles cover “Seven Bridges Road” and “I’m Your Man,” a new single out Friday that, played live, was more blue-cool than red-hot swagger. The polite but understandably sleepy crowd would have to wait for something, well, wilder.

6 takeaways from Luke Combs' Milwaukee concert Friday

  • At the risk of ruining this for everyone catching a concert at American Family Field in the future (including myself): I once again followed Journal Sentinel reporter Claire Reid's traffic-avoiding tips and drove into the stadium lots from Blue Mound Road. I first hit the brakes at 5:28 p.m., and I was parked by 5:41 p.m. The Journal Sentinel splurged on premium parking this time out, so that cut down on my parking time, but I still was shocked at how quickly I got in. But getting out, there's really nothing drivers can do to avoid that headache. People started filing out in large numbers around 10:50 p.m., but the drive out of the lots around me didn't really clear up until about 12:10 a.m.
  • A friend texted me a photo from his seats at Friday's show — with a massive, suspended speaker stack blocking a good portion of the stage, even though his tickets weren't classified as "obstructed view." He debated with customer service to no avail and embraced a positive attitude, and I gathered he was still able to see Combs on the screens clearly and when he'd walk the stage. But given the complications getting to the show and the cost, it's too bad my friend and others seated near him had to deal with that.
  • Beyond "Fast Car," there were other covers Friday, including a stirring take of Ed Sheeran's "Dive," a rendition of Brooks & Dunn's "Brand New Man," and a medley of three songs with a few of Combs' bandmates taking lead vocals: Shania Twain's "Whose Bed Have Your Boots Been Under?," Train's "Drops of Jupiter" and Dierks Bentley's "What Was I Thinkin'?"
  • Combs covered a whole lot of hits, but not every one of his Billboard Country Airplay chart-toppers made the setlist. Left out Friday: "Even Though I'm Leaving," "Does to Me" and "Doin' This." But it was worth cutting one of those to make sure he added unreleased fatherly love song "The Man He Sees in Me" Friday.
  • A head's up: Combs’ openers Friday won’t be the same openers Saturday. Expect a more country radio vibe with (in order of appearance) Colby Acuff, Drew Parker, Mitchell Tenpenny and Jordan Davis. And if you get to the lots by 3 p.m., you can see two more acts — Ryan Larkins and Graham Barham — at the Third Base Plaza at American Family Field.
  • Most interesting conversation from the pit: A woman near the stage yelled at a security guard, “Next time I have to pee you’re coming with. That was (expletive) brutal coming back in here.” Understandably, the security guard looked horrified.
