Springsteen announced the dates for his 2023 European tour in May, explaining on SiriusXM’s E Street Radio that after nearly five years off the road it was time for him to get the band back together. “It’s kind of mind boggling to be honest with you… IT doesn’t feel that long, but, you know, we stayed busy over that time, but still it’s, I’m really, I’ve got the Jones to play live very badly at this point,” Springsteen said of getting back at it with the band for the first time since they recorded 2020’s Letter to You album. “So, I’m deeply looking forward to getting out there in front of our fans.”
The group is gearing up to hit the road for the first time since the conclusion of their 14-month global River Tour, which kicked off in 2016. According to a release announcing the new dates, since the 2023 European dates were announced in May more than 1.2 million tickets have already been sold. After the end of the European run — scheduled for April-July 2023 — the band will begin a second as-yet-unannounced string of North American shows in August; tour dates in the UK are also slated for next year, with the details to be announced soon.

The music of JOURNEY along with the music of TOTO is an example of 'certain music' during 'uncertain times'."
Very special guest TOTO , who have collectively streamed more than 3.3 billion plays on Spotify alone based on hits including "Rosanna" , "Africa" and "Hold The Line" , will join JOURNEY on all dates.
TOTO 's Steve Lukather shares: "'On behalf of myself and the band, we are very honored and excited to do this tour with our old and dear friends JOURNEY . Gonna be a great night of music, and as all the guys are lifelong friends... a blast off stage as well."

JOURNEY and TOTO previously joined forces for an early 2022 U.S. arena tour.
JOURNEY is continuing to promote its latest album, "Freedom" , which was released in July via BMG . The LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Current Rock chart.
The members of JOURNEY celebrated the album's release by kicking off a residency featuring special symphony orchestra performances at the new, state-of-the-art Resorts World Casino in Las Vegas.
As JOURNEY 's legend continues to grow larger and their touring gets bigger, "Freedom" is the band’s first album of new material to be released in eleven years, since 2011's "Eclipse" , and in addition to Schon , along with longtime keyboard player and primary lyricist Cain and Pineda , one more member was recruited for the LP — bassist extraordinaire Randy Jackson , who had played on JOURNEY 's 1986 album "Raised On Radio" .
Inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017, JOURNEY has 25 gold and platinum albums, with total sales adding up to over 100 million albums worldwide, earning the band two Diamond Awards with a third on the way for the "Frontiers" album. JOURNEY has also surpassed one billion streams on Spotify .

The Eagles Announce “The Long Goodbye” The Band’s Final Tour
Tickets On Sale Friday, July 14 at 10:00 Local Time
High-res photos HERE
LOS ANGELES , July 6, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — After more than 50 years of touring, and consistently selling out arenas and stadiums worldwide, the Eagles announced today that their upcoming “The Long Goodbye” will be the band’s final tour.
Thirteen shows will be initially announced. The first set of dates will begin September 7, 2023 , in New York .
The Eagles’ long-time contemporaries and fellow Hall of Famers, Steely Dan, will be joining these historic shows and commemorating their own 50+ year career.
Presale tickets and VIP packages will be available starting Wednesday, July 12 for all announced shows. The general on-sale will start Friday, July 14 at 10:00 AM local time.
During “The Long Goodbye,” the Eagles – Don Henley , Joe Walsh , Timothy B. Schmit , with Vince Gill and Deacon Frey – will perform as many shows in each market as their audience demands. The tour is expected to continue into 2025.
Over the band’s more than 50 years of touring, the Eagles have performed more than 1,000 concerts around the world, accounting for more than 15 million tickets. Eagles’ tours have consistently ranked in the Top 10 of both concert industry publications, Billboard and Pollstar .
In the Fall of 1971, the Eagles formed, pioneered, and personified a uniquely American musical style blending country, folk, R&B, rock, and pop sensibilities, and would go onto become one of the most creatively and commercially successful bands of all time. In today’s faddish, fractured, rock landscape, the Eagles retain an appeal that transcends both generation and genre, cementing the band’s role as enduring musical icons.
The Eagles have sold more than 150 million albums worldwide, scored six #1 albums, and topped the singles charts five times. They earned six GRAMMY Awards, were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, in their very first year of eligibility, and received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2016.
The band’s Greatest Hits 1971-1977 is the best-selling album in history, with the RIAA certifying the collection at 38-times Platinum. Hotel California is the third best-selling U.S. album in history, certified 26-times Platinum. After its release in 1976, it topped the charts and earned two GRAMMY Awards for “New Kid In Town” and “Hotel California.”
The “Long Goodbye” tour is proudly presented by Live Nation.

Cannot wait for Toronto! I live in Buffalo NY but there was no date for that. Toronto is only a 2 hour drive!
World Tour? More like local tour; where are the Mexico dates man?
They tour all over the world and they have been for yearssss. They usually tour outside of the US and usually go to Mexico, Canada, and basically any European country. It might not be to late to buy tickets for Mexico if they haven't already been there.
I didn't notice a Chicagoland date! Please come back to St. Charles, IL!

I'm a Brazilian journalist who always loved Classic Rock and Heavy Metal music. That passion inspired me to create Rock and Roll Garage over 6 years ago. Music has always been a part of my life, helping me through tough times and being a support to celebrate the good ones. When I became a journalist, I knew I wanted to write about my passions. After graduating in journalism from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais, I pursued a postgraduate degree in digital communication at the same institution. The studies and experience in the field helped me improve the website and always bring the best of classic rock to the world! MTB: 0021377/MG

X @ THE Annual Music Masters™ Oct 21st 2016
The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Case Western Reserve University will honor one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, Johnny Cash, during the 21st Annual Music Masters™ series, presented by Klipsch Audio.
The “Man in Black,” who influenced not only his fellow country musicians, but also rockers from Bob Dylan to Trent Reznor, was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1992. The week-long celebration, October 17 - 22, will include the Annual Music Masters concert on Friday, October 21 at Playhouse Square’s State Theater, with Mike Ness of Social Distortion, singer-songwriter Eilen Jewell, legendary L.A. punk band X, and others who were influenced by the “Man in Black.”

Legendary rock band announces new tour dates after singer’s injury

A fractured larynx and vocal cord damage are no joke for a hard-rock singer to recover from. Especially a 76-year-old frontman with a still-big voice, like Steven Tyler .
Nearly a year after Aerosmith put the brakes on a long-gestating farewell tour just a few shows in after Tyler injured his voice during a Sept. 9, 2023 show at a New York arena, the band’s about to be, ahem, back in the saddle.
The “Peace Out Tour” will resume September 20 in Pittsburgh. The 40-date arena tour runs through February 26 in Buffalo and includes a New Year’s Eve show in the band’s hometown of Boston. Complete list of tour dates at aerosmith.com .
Aerosmith’s decades of hits include “Dream On,” “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Back in the Saddle,” “Janie’s Got A Gun,” “Crazy” and “I Don’t Want To Miss A Thing.”
The band features Tyler, guitarists Joe Perry and Brad Whitford and bassist Tom Hamilton.
Unlike many classic rock groups, Aerosmith’s original lineup remained intact through most of their history. However in recent years, original drummer Joey Kramer has been replaced onstage by John Douglas, Kramer’s former drum tech. Buck Johnson , an Alabama native who also tours with Brother Cane and Hollywood Vampires, is Aerosmith’s touring keyboardist/backing vocalist .
Blues-rockers The Black Crowes , known for ‘90s hits like “Jealous Again” and “Remedy,” are the support act for all dates of Aerosmith’s “Peace Out Tour.”
The Black Crowes previously opened for Aerosmith on the Crowes’ first-ever big tour, back in 1990. Led by brothers Chris and Rich Robinson , on vocals and guitar, respectively, Black Crowes recently released “Happiness Bastards,” their first album of all-original songs in 15 years .
Aerosmith’s classic albums include their 1973 self-titled debut, 1975′s “Toys in the Attic,” 1976 release “Rocks,” 1987 comeback LP “Permanent Vacation” and ‘93 mega-seller “Get a Grip.” Aerosmith’s most recent album was “Music from Another Dimension” from 2012.

Aerosmith announces rescheduled ‘Peace Out’ tour dates as Steven Tyler recovers from vocal chord injury

(CNN) — Nearly seven months after Aerosmith was forced to postpone their “Peace Out” farewell tour, the band is heading back out on the road this fall.
The rockers wrote that they’re “thrilled” to announce the rescheduled dates for the tour in an Instagram post on the band’s official page on Wednesday.
The tour will kick off in Pittsburgh, PA on September 20 and will run through February 26 of next year, when they’ll play their final show in Buffalo, NY. The Black Crowes will return as Aerosmith’s special guests along the tour.
In September 2023, the band announced that Steven Tyler, Aerosmith’s famed lead singer, has suffered a vocal chord injury in a statement posted to Aerosmith’s Facebook page. As a result, they postponed the rest of their 2023 “Peace Out” farewell tour dates after playing only three shows.
“To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care,” the statement read.
“I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world,” Tyler wrote in a personal note to his fans at the time. “I promise we will be back as soon as we can!”
The rescheduled 40-date North American tour is billed as both a celebration of Aerosmith’s 50 years together and as the band’s final touring farewell.
All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled shows, according to the band’s post on Wednesday, and tickets will go on sale on Friday at 10 a.m. in the purchaser’s timezone.

Deep Purple announces 2024 tour with Yes. Get tickets today
In 1972, Deep Purple released the iconic “Smoke On The Water.”
Now, 52 years (!) later, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will celebrate their mega hit on their ‘1 More Time Tour’ with fellow Rock Hall inductees Yes all summer long.
Along the way, Ian Gillan and co. are scheduled to make five New York and New Jersey stops.
First, the heavy hitmakers drop into Camden, NJ’s Freedom Mortgage Pavilion on Friday, Aug. 30.
After that, the London natives swoop into Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Aug. 31, Wantagh, NY’s Jones Beach Theater on Sept. 1 and Saratoga Springs, NY’s Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Sept. 4.
Deep Purple closes their NY run at Bethel’s Bethel Woods Center For The Arts on Sept. 6.
For fans that can’t wait to rock out to “Hush,” “Highway Star,” “Space Truckin'” — and of course “Smoke On The Water” — tickets for all North American concerts can be picked up as soon as today.
Although inventory isn’t available on Ticketmaster until Friday, April 12, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.
Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.
They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.
A complete calendar including all North American tour dates, venues and links to buy tickets can be found below.
The band closed the North American leg of their 2023 tour in Orlando on Feb. 21.
According to Set List FM , here’s what Deep Purple performed — including guitar, keyboard and bass solos — that evening:
01.) “Highway Star”
02.) “Pictures of Home”
03.) “No Need to Shout”
04.) “Nothing at All”
05.) “Guitar Solo”
06.) “Uncommon Man”
07.) “Lazy”
08.) “When a Blind Man Cries”
09.) “Anya”
10.) “Keyboard Solo”
11.) “Perfect Strangers”
12.) “Space Truckin'”
13.) “Smoke on the Water”
14.) “Hush” (Joe South cover)
15.) “Bass Solo”
16.) “Black Night”
Being together for 56 years doesn’t mean Deep Purple doesn’t have more to give to the world.
In 2022, the band reached deep into their archives and dug out “ Extras: The Infinite B Sides and Bonus Songs” which is a must for any Purple superfan.
However, what we found most interesting was the band’s latest record of original music, 2021’s bluesy, New Orleans-y “Turning To Crime.”
Featuring epic rock (“7 and 7 Is”) as well as lively party startin’ tunes (“Rockin’ Pneumonia and the Boogie Woogie Flu”) and covers from B.B. King (“Let the Good Times Roll”) and Cream (“White Room”), the album is certainly a departure from the hard rockers’ heavy fare they’re famous for.
Still, for our money, the best track on the record is the Southern-fried rock and roll number “Oh Well.”
We’ve been listening to it on repeat all day.
You can hear the jubilant “Turning To Crime” album in its entirety here .
After over 50 years together — they formed in 1968 — the core of Deep Purple remains the same.
Should you attend a show, here’s who you’ll likely see take the stage:
Ian Gillan lead vocals, harmonica, percussion (1969–1973, 1984–1989, 1992–present)
Roger Glover bass, keyboards, occasional backing vocals (1969–1973, 1984–present)
Ian Paice drums (1968–1976, 1984–present)
Don Airey keyboards (2002–present)
Simon McBride guitars, backing vocals (2022–present)
This tour is a twofer.
Joining Deep Purple on the road are fellow Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Yes.
The long-running prog band is known for their hits like “Owner of A Lonely Heart,” “Roundabout,” “I’ve Seen All Good People” and many, many more.
If you want to dive into their deep catalog, you can find all of Yes’ music here .
It’s hard to believe the ’60s were over 50 years ago now.
Still, many acts that defined the sound of the groundbreaking musical era are still kicking it and on the road this year.
Here are just five of our favorite acts that have been rocking out since Nixon was in office that you can see live in the next few months.
• Rolling Stones
• Robert Plant with Allison Krauss
• Bob Dylan with Willie Nelson
• Ringo Starr
• Graham Nash

The five-man group, fronted by singer Jesús Ortiz Paz, will also play dates in San Diego, Phoenix, Seattle, San Jose, Las Vegas, San Antonio and Palm Desert. Peso Pluma knows you know who he is. How the 24-year-old Grammy winner put Mexican music on the map.
Jesús Ortiz Paz of Fuerza Regida talks Mexican music's global rise
Fuerza Regida's upcoming nationwide tour follows a 2023 full of major accomplishments for the group.
In October, the group released its biggest album to date, "Pa Las Baby's Y Belikeada," which peaked at No. 2 on Billboard's Latin Albums chart and reached the Top 15 of the Billboard 200. Standout hits from the album include "TQM," "Sabor Fresa" and "Harley Quinn," which each charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "Harley Quinn," a collaboration with Marshmello, became the band's first-ever No. 1 hit on the Latin Airplay chart.
"Pa Las Baby's Y Belikeada" also earned Fuerza Regida a pair of awards — Top Duo/Group and Top Latin Duo/Group — at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards in November.
In a 2023 interview with USA TODAY, Paz spoke about Fuerza Regida leading the movement in expanding the global reach of Mexican music.
"We got into this business six years ago, and there was nothing like it," he said. "So, we're pioneers of this too. It took six years for us because everyone has a different career, but for us, to see Mexican music go global — there are no words. We're up with the rappers, the reggaetoneros. Mexican music's No. 1 right now."
Most recently, the band released its EP, "Dolido Pero No Arrepentido." The album debuted at No. 2 on Billboard's Regional Mexican Albums chart.
"The goal is to keep on staying on top, and like they say, 'Hard work beats talent.' So, we just don't stop working," Paz added. "And hopefully in the next six years, we're still on top, making global hits and still selling out stadiums and arenas — that's what we wish for, and hopefully it goes down."
When do Fuerza Regida tickets go on sale?
Tickets will go on sale Friday at 10 a.m. local time at livenation.com

90s rock legends announce new farewell tour dates after frontman’s ‘serious’ injury
Share this with
A globally renowned rock group who dominated the charts in the 1990s have announced fresh dates for their farewell tour, after they were forced to postpone shows .
Aerosmith announced their Peace Out tour would be their last after over 50 years in music in May 2023, with gigs set to start last September.
The band, who have sold over 150 million records worldwide and are the best-selling American hard rock group of all time, have a back catalogue boasting songs including Walk this Way, Love in an Elevator, Dream On and Young Lust.
However, they were then forced to postpone their 2023 dates after their frontman Steven Tyler sustained a ‘serious’ injury – but now they will resume shows this September instead.
The 76-year-old damaged his vocal cords, which led to ‘bleeding’, just days into their world tour.
Aerosmith initially pushed back six gigs as Tyler revealed he was ‘heartbroken’ to have been given ‘strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next 30 days’.
However, the I Don’t Wanna Miss A Thing stars later had to make the decision to suspend all of their show dates after it became apparent Tyler had fractured his larynx.
‘To our fans: Unfortunately, Steven’s vocal injury is more serious than initially thought. His doctor has confirmed that in addition to the damage to his vocal cords, he fractured his larynx which requires ongoing care,’ a statement Aerosmith released at the time on Instagram read.
‘He is receiving the best medical treatment available to ensure his recovery is swift, but given the nature of a fracture, he is being told patience is essential.
‘As a result, all the currently scheduled PEACE OUT shows must be postponed to sometime in 2024, with new dates to be announced as soon as we know more.’
Tyler added in a separate message: ‘I am heartbroken to not be out there with Aerosmith, my brothers and the incredible Black Crowes, rocking with the best fans in the world. I promise we will be back as soon as we can!’
Now, those dates have been confirmed as kicking off again on September 20 in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and travelling extensively throughout the United Sates and Canada until February 26, when they play Buffalo, New York.
‘We’re thrilled to announce new dates for our 2024 PEACE OUT Tour with special guests @theblackcrowes!’, Aerosmith announced on X, adding: ‘All previously purchased tickets will be honoured for the rescheduled shows – you’ll receive more info via email.

Aerosmith was formed in late 1970 and comprises of Tyler, lead guitarist Joe Perry, bass player Tom Hamilton, drummer Joey Kramer and guitar player Brad Whitford.
Kramer, however, is not participating in the world tour with the band announcing he is ‘focus[ing] his full attention on his family and health’.
Touring member Buck Johnson will be participating as well.
In February, a lawsuit filed against singer Tyler by a woman accusing him of sexually assaulting her twice in one day when she was 17 was dismissed.
US District Judge Lewis Kaplan stated that former child model Jeanne Bellino had waited too long to sue the 75-year-old rock star, as reported by Reuters.
The judge said Bellino did not qualify for a two-year window to pursue claims that would otherwise extend beyond statutes of limitations, because she did not allege that Tyler’s conduct posed a ‘serious risk of physical injury’.
Rocker Tyler had previously ‘vehemently’ denied her allegations.
Tyler has also defended against a lawsuit in Los Angeles, where another woman, Julia Misley, claimed he sexually assaulted her in 1973 when she was 16 and he was 25.
He has denied the claims and insisted that Julia Misley, formerly known as Julia Holcomb, consented to their relationship.

Russian IADS Redux Part-7: The Effectors
In the next part of our series on Russia’s strategic integrated air defence system, we look at the kinetic ground-based air defence systems it deploys.
In part-6 of our series on Russia’s strategic Integrated Air Defence System (IADS) we examined the command and control architecture it depends upon. The IADS’ role is ultimately to provide a response to air threats approaching or entering Russian airspace. In Russian air defence doctrine this response is provided using kinetic and/or electronic effects.
The kinetic side of the IADS depends on the Russian Aerospace Force’s (RASF’s) fighters and Surface-to-Air Missile (SAM) systems. Sources have shared with Armada that both the fighter and SAM force would be deployed in wartime to protect key Russian strategic targets. Typically, these could include politico-military targets like the Kremlin, the seat of the Russian government in Moscow. Other potential strategic targets include hardened facilities believed to be earmarked for use by the Russian leadership in wartime. One of these facilities is thought to be located at Mount Yamantau, southwest Russia. A back-up facility may exist at Mount Kosvinsky Kaman, western Russia. Russia’s industrial city of Elektrostal, on the eastern outskirts of Moscow, was one of the first locations where the RASF deployed its S-400 (NATO reporting name SA-21 Growler) high-altitude, long-range SAM systems in 2010.
The SAM Systems
Moscow itself is ring-fenced by the RASF’s 53T6 (ABM-3 Gazelle) anti-ballistic missile system. The 53T6 employs SAMs equipped with a ten kiloton (one kiloton is equal to 1,000 tonnes of conventional explosive) nuclear warhead. These missiles would detonate at altitude in proximity to incoming salvos of ballistic missile warheads or formations of hostile aircraft. The logic is that this ‘shotgun’ approach will vaporise, or at least badly damage, these targets.
The S-400 is the mainstay of the RASF SAM force. A typical S-400 battalion includes two batteries. A battery comprises between eight and twelve individual launch vehicles, each equipped with four missile tubes. Thus, an S-400 regiment could have between 56 and 84 individual missiles ready to launch if fully loaded. Each battery has a command post, a 91N6 (Big Bird) S-band (2.3 gigahertz/GHz to 2.5GHz/2.7GHz to 3.7GHz) 324 nautical mile/nm (600 kilometre/km) range surveillance and tracking radar. The 91N6 is joined by a 96L6E (Cheese Board) C-band (5.25GHz to 5.925GHz) early warning and target acquisition radar. This radar has a range of up to 162nm (300km). A plethora of SAMs can be launched by the S-400 with an array of engagement ranges from 21.6nm (40km) using the active radar homing 9M96E missile. Engagement ranges can reach up to 216nm (400km) using the 40N6E missile which has a reported engagement altitude of 98,425 feet/ft (30,000 metres/m).
Legacy systems used by the RASF include the S-300PS (SA-10B Grumble-B) and S-300PM (SA-10D/E Grumble) which have subtle differences. An S-300PS battery has three Maz-543 launch vehicles each with four launch tubes. The battery is also equipped with a single 5N63S (Flap Lid-B) X-band (8.5GHz to 10.68GHz) fire control radar. An S-300PM battery has a single 36N6E (Flap Lid) X-band/Ku-band (13.4GHz to 14GHz/15.7GHz to 17.7GHz) fire control radar with a 162nm (300km) range. Joining the 36N6E is a 76N6 (Clam Shell) X-band (8.5GHz to 10.68GHz) search and track radar with a 70nm (120km) range. The rest of the battery is comprised of up to eight Kraz-260 launch vehicles each with four tubes. Both the S-300PS/PM are thought to deploy 48N6/E SAMs which have a reported 81nm (150km) range. The S-300PS/PM’s 5V55R missile has an engagement range of up to 48.6nm (90km).
Sources have shared with Armada that RASF SAM batteries are not routinely deployed but may deploy from time-to-time to support exercises or training. The batteries would only be deployed in anger to protect key strategic targets like those discussed above. The sources continued that the task of the SAM units is to provide a protective ‘bubble’ above these targets. Air defence coverage up to 54 nautical miles/nm (100 kilometres/km) altitude and a range radius of 189nm (350km) around the target would be provided. The SAM units would work to attrit any incoming air attack as much as possible. Russian air defence doctrine focuses on safeguarding as many strategic targets as possible in anticipation of an eventual counterattack.
One crucial part of the RASF’s SAM force is its 96K6 Pantsir-S1 (SA-22 Greyhound) combined medium-range SAM and anti-aircraft artillery systems. 96K6 units would deploy with S-300 and S-400 batteries. Their role would be to destroy air-launched weapons like anti-radiation missiles or attack helicopters engaging the batteries Armada’s sources added.
Over the longer term, the RASF is looking to introduce new SAM systems to enhance the strategic IADS in the form of the S-350E and S-500 Prometey long-range, high-altitude SAM systems. The S-350E is mooted as a replacement for the RASF’s S-300PS/PM batteries. Open sources state that a S-350E battery has one 50N6A X-band ground-based air surveillance radar with a range of 215nm (400km). The 50N6A is joined by a single 50K6A mobile command post and up to eight 50P6 launch vehicles. Each launch vehicle can fire 9M96/E or 9M100 SAMs with engagement ranges and altitudes of up to 65nm (120km) and 98,000ft (30,000m) respectively. It was reported in January 2020 that the first S-350E battery had entered service, although a developmental system may have been deployed to support Russia’s military presence in Syria. The VKS could receive twelve S-350E batteries by 2027.
The S-500 is mooted to have a longer engagement range than the S-350E. The S-500 ensemble includes a 91N6A(M) air surveillance and battle management radar. This radar is an enhanced version of the 91N6A radar accompanying the S-400. The S-500’s 96L6TSP target acquisition radar is an enhanced variant of the S-400’s 96L6E. These two systems are accompanied by the 76T6 multimode fire control radar, itself thought to be a derivative of the 92N6. Also forming part of the S-500 ensemble is the 77T6 anti-ballistic missile engagement radar the capabilities of which remain largely unknown in the public domain.
Open sources say that missiles equipping the S-500 could hit targets at ranges of up to 270nm (500km). Russian sources have claimed that the S-500 could engage targets at up to 656,168ft (200,000m) altitude. Russian media, seldom the most reliable source, claim that the first S-500 regiment went on combat duty in October 2021.
The long-term prognosis for the S-500 and S-350E systems remains uncertain. As documented by the Royal United Services Institute, a London-based thinktank, the Russian defence industry is dependent on clandestinely-sourced Western microelectronics for sophisticated weapons systems. Will Western efforts to clamp down on Russia’s access to such technology have an impact on the fortunes of the S-350E and S-500?
Stay tuned for more analysis on Russia’s strategic air defence capabilities in the next instalment of our Russian IADS Redux series.
